What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It was great to see the library being used for researching records, instead of just googling. The physical activities were a highlight, plus that aspect of competition was exciting.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Ongoing interest in world records (normal and whacky). Would look at repeating again next year with my new class.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Yes, it tied in veery well with the measurement and stats strands. Great to have practical hands on activities.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I will re-use this kit with my parents and tie it in with Olympics Learning

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? This kit helped my students apply mathematical thinking and concepts in a hand-on way. This help some concepts really click for some of my struggling students.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It worked for everyone - those kids who love to be outside could be, those ones who wanted to work on their own could. It allowed the children to follow their interst and passion.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Haven't finished yet so not quite there :)

As we were doing athletics at the same time this was perfect to link in with, we did more measuring and tracking of distances and a warm up to making own records as these were records too. What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have set up a good system for setting goals for athletics with measures. Going to use for water safety in the pool, treading water, lie on back etc The class - who I teach for around 3 years have discussed how we can do this for reading next year, doi

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Timing and length. Looking at accuracy when measuring and different ways to measure. Split seconds was interesting for them to explore.

A super interactive kit. The class enjoyed looking at real records in amazement and then being able to make their own up. Lots of good structure so the kids could test and change ideas, narrow them down a bit.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The class loved writing their World Record Challenges and sharing those with the class before competing against each other to set the records. This gave them the opportunity to critically evaluate how to do things and develop strategies.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have shared the idea of creating World Records with other classes in the school and this has been really cool to have to lead and explain the project for the students.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? It got the class thinking about how to record data and how to make sure that they were specific in setting the parameters for what they needed to record.

The class loved doing the World Record challenges! It was easy to navigate the online site and provide the clear guidelines to the class. The class then presented what they were working on to the school in assembly and got other students interested in it, which was really cool.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Students enjoyed (and were grossed out) by other weird world records they were keen to do further research into world records, this in turn made them very excited for creating their own world records.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Lots of decimal number thinking when looking at parts of a centimetre and parts of a second as students worked hard to be precise with their measurements. Exploring superlatives was a great segway into some writing that included superlatives. Students als

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Measuring and Statistics were key aspects of this learning. Bringing in the 'officials' helped to keep this serious and accurate.

This was a fun and active way to get into some practical mathematics skills. Students loved the concept of adding the 'something silly but I did have to reign this in a bit as they came up with unreasonable ideas that were funny but not safe or practical - great to see their imaginations in play!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We had a wide range of topics, skill sets covered in all these 'created' records. It was really great to see tamariki creating records around their interests and skills.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Social emotional skills. We found the whole 'official' thing very interesting and the injustices, unfairness, boy v girl dynamics quite interesting.

This was a really engaging kit! The tamariki loved the activities at the start and were hugely motivated to create their own records! A great activity for the end of the year!
