We didn't use all of the kits components - students enjoyed using digital timers so they could check in to see how much time had passed, it also proved a bit tricky for some more extravagant challenges - the egg timer wasn't long enough. Kit components were to a high quality 'Superlatives' might be pitched a bit high for junior students it required a lot of teacher input Worked really well as an idea for wet lunchtimes - students could compete and record results independently

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The Guiness Book of Word Records is one of the favourite books in the library, so we were able to use World Records as reading activities, as well as maths. Our unit this term focused on personal growth and development as part of the HPE curriculum area.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will continue to work on the measurement of time and distance.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? We used measurement of time, (and distance in some cases) in a meaningful way. We could have created graphs to record our attempts if we had more time.
How successful was this kit in encouraging physical activity in your class?

This kit was a great resource. We used it as part of a wider unit on challenges and personal growth. The students were excited about the resources, and motivated to be creative in setting their record. Everyone present on our world record day was successful in achieving their goal. They had so many unique and creative ideas!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? I loved the way it encouraged my students to think outside of the box when it came to creating their records. They were using all areas of the curriculum as well as making connections to their prior knowledge.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We can definitely work on becoming more accurate with our measurement skills as this was something we are still new to. We are also going to be continuing to develop social/teamwork skills such as the understanding of fairness and working together towards

The different ways of measuring each attempt (laps, seconds, songs, cm, inches and minutes) really supported their mathematical thinking. For some records we were looking for the fastest so had to go on the smallest result and were some we were looking fo

My class of year 1 and 2 students were very engaged with this resource. We spent a little bit time talking about possible records and brainstorming ideas that were sensible and manageable within the classroom setting. The creative nature of some of the records they created blew me away. My students had so much fun trying to beat each of these records. The children who wrote each one loved wearing the "official"tags and being the judges for each attempt. A great way to keep children engaged in their learning- thank you!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? There were many discussions around how this was not just maths, and how we needed other learning areas and equipment to complete the tasks we set ourselves. A great example of inquiry based learning for younger students.

The students have spoken at length of athletics and sports days, of pet day and markets, how we measure things and how we can change the parameters of expectations too. What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Children created reporting videos based on their world record attempts. They discussed the challenges they faced, the emotions they felt, and what they learned from this as part of a Health/P.E Inquiry.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? They have learned that if they put in the work and say they can or can't it's true.
