This was a fun kit and the students were super engaged. Loved how it all linked to so much learning across the curriculum, especially mathematics. There was a lot of physical resources that really excited the students.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It was a very integrated topic across several curriculum areas. It helped the students recognise that learning happens in all areas of life and it felt very meaningful to them.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Being able to follow a formula/process Clear writing of instructions Measurement and statistics ideas Creating new tasks which can be tested/compared More work around the concept of superlatives

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? There was lots of thinking around following a statistical inquiry cycle- collecting data accurately and analysing it. There was also a big measurement component.

This was a fantastic school kit. The concept of world records really appealed to the students and followed on well from the Commonwealth Games which we investigated at the start of the term Our students loved being able to come up with their own world record challenges and following the "secret formula"gave them a good criteria to work to. They learned a great deal about writing clear instructions, undertsanding the meaning of words like "superlative", measurable, doable, breakable etc. AND it was a whole lot of fun!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Social skills were well developed as they explained, negotiated, and problem solved together. They also had to learn how to fill out the form correctly.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? To further understand measuring time, length, and form filling.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? It developed counting, measuring distance, measuring time.

My year 1-3 students loved doing this. At times it felt a little chaotic with so many kids doing so many different things. But there was a lot of good learning and social skills being used. Some good measuring and maths too.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Students were very keen to extend their interests to literacy e.g. looking for books and reading up on articles about previous record holders

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Students were especially encouraged to develop their estimation skills and seeing real life results that they were able to measure themselves

We found that students were needing to use their writing knowledge as well as reading. Having the cards as prompts to help with creation of the

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Students used different mathematical areas, including measurement: time and distance, statistics: tally marks and comparing data. Numeracy strategies and knowledge.

Our class loved doing the different world records that we came up with. We are a multilevel class of year 0-3. Our records needed to be inclusive of all the different ages and abilities. We enjoyed making different records and adding that little bit of silly. We would highly recommend this kit and think other children would love them as much as we did.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Challenged them to think about physical activity in different ways. They loved investigating crazy world records that are out there and thinking outside the box to create their own. We were able to link reading and writing also.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We linked this to our inquiry unit and asked students to reflect on world record holders and the attributes or dispositions they may need to be able to achieve this. Students have completed a journal throughout the term as a way to reflect on their own go

Fit with our term theme of 'If you believe you can or can't, you're right'. Students loved finding out about World Records, but also the creative and mathematical side of them also. The kit came with everything that was needed and the support material was great.
