What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Bringing in writing and reading in relation to it, using the book of world records books and getting them to write their own, the science of how things work
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Learning in relation to proability and estimations
How many DIY World Records did your class make?
How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Using estimation before testing it, to see how much they think they'll be able to do before testing. Then figuring out equations to solve the amount, graphing all the information gathered in the different attempts.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We made crossed curricular links with Mathematics - measurement as well as our inquiry focus of the Commonwealth Games, and PE movement and participation. Students were all very motivated to get involved and try and set a record!
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? A lot of interest in further investigating current world records and world record holders.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Measuring time and distance, as well as thinking about appropriate time restrictions and measurement requirements for their challenges.

My class loved this kit! They really enjoyed creating and running their own World Record Attempts. The badges were a particular hit! This was a perfect fit for our term's Commonwealth Games focus.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Respect, collaboration and cooperation. Literacy - recording and planing of the records Research skills (Inquiry) - when investigating existing world records and planning their own.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Research skills, organising similar events and activities, team games, working as a group. We would love to run the whole thing again as we had a lot of fun!
How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Measurement: timing, distance, counting numbers in a set amount of time. reading times and numbers as well as units of measurement.

We absolutely loved this School Kit, both investigating exisiting world records and then creating our own. The resources in the kit were very cool, the students loved having lanyards and being officials. This was so much fun and lots of physical activity and collaboration.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Measurement was a key mathematical concept. Concepts of accuracy and consistency were explored in an real and authentic context.

Awesome learning and understanding in a highly engaging context. Akongā built their understanding of what is necessary to create a Guiness World record and applied this to defining their own records. We had a great day where we ran our records and determined whether their records met the criteria in actuality.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? lots of our activities were P.E based and trying but also was able to link our activities into Maths and our measurement topic. creating tables and graphs to show our results.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continuing creating records is a easy way to keep students active and be able to link our activity to maths.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Having the tape measures was great for being able to measure distances. The time keepers were great for helping students to be able to record time.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? curiosity! Also lots of timing and measurement work during play can be seen happening

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Kids loved learning about World Records and having a go at some them in class to see if they could beat them - They also enjoyed researching about world record holders. Heaps of writing, reading, maths.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Understanding what 'measurable' means and how this makes it fair for everyone.

This was an excellent unit - really engaging for both teacher and students! We loved the activities and came up with some really funny AMS world records which we all had a go at. Fantastic unit for integrating across the curriculum. Thank you for all the hard work that went into this great resource.
