What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We linked this kit to our interest in the Commonwealth Games. We created world records that involved throwing and running. The children were then applying their desire to make the most to other areas in the classroom.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are now going to follow up with ordinal numbers. This has linked to our reporting system, with Parents hearing about the skills and dispositions that the students used. We are also visiting our local gym club and have talked about how we might measure

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Extended and enriched our oral language around measurement. Linked concepts to meaningful experiences. Children explored measuring, tally marks, writing numbers, ordinal numbers and explaining their ideas.

A highly engaging kit that had the children hooked from the very beginning. We linked this to the Commonwealth games and was perfect as we were learning about measurement. The children loved the resources and took their roles and record attempts very seriously! Our new entrant class has kept referring back to the world records daily, for example, I can read the most books in a week!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We could not get any consistency going with so many absences last term that I did not see the full potential of this kit.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Trying again! I'm really looking forward to giving it another go sometime.

We had a bit of trouble completing this kit. With Covid really effecting our school hard in Term 2 it was difficult to get any consistency going with it. It looks like an amazing kit which I am definitely keen to try again at a later date to it's full potential.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? The children where challenged to think, compare and measure. They had to think outside the box in some cases so that the records could be quantifiable

My students had great fun with this School Kit. They were a lot more creative than I had initially thought they might be and in the end, most of our activities where discussed within the framework of whether we could turn it into a world record. Thank you for providing a very engaging school kit which challenged as well as entertained the students

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? All of the records that we attempted were very physically based, such as most 3point basketball shots within a minute, how long can 2 people can keep 4 balloons up in the air etc
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? we have some exploratory time on Fridays were the children can follow a passion project and a group of children are now continuing on with the world records and have set up a tournament of records for other students to attempt to break.

This kit was absolutely amazing. Watching the youtube videos really sparked the interest of my students and then they came up with some great records on their own .

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Students have been inspired to practise their world records in their own outdoor play time. They are choosing to extend their records and involve others in the school.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As we move into more off the recording phase, we will focus on the math side and that statistical analysis of the data. We will also be encourage students to use their courage and have a go at records they think they will not be able to do.
How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? When designing records, students had to think about timing and what would be a decent amount of time to complete their record. They also had to thin about distance, so great for practising the strand maths concepts that we have been learning.

Amazing engagement once again. We are in the process of working through this kit. Currently we have written some records and had a few practise attempts. Recording will happen next term when we have time.

Lots of fun for all students to participate at their own skill level. Really happy with the way it allowed children to be challenged and extended for those who have high maths skills with problem solving.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We didn't do too much cross curricular - although we hosted an assembly and got parents involved in trying to beat records. It made for a really exciting assemby!
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have looked at seeing if we can actually make a 'proper' world record to attempt!

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? It was great as it linked into our measurement that we had been teaching at the time. The importance of "the most"or "biggest distance"or "fastest time"was great to bring into real life contexts.

Absolutely loved this kit. It was a great theme for the kids to get hooked into, as they already loved looking at all the 'weird' ones in the books that we have in the school library. To make their own ones, then for their peers to try and beat them - priceless! The most 'fun' kit that the kids can articulate too. One of the best - stacking glue sticks on top of eachother only using rulers!
