What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? A lot of the world record ideas the kids came up with were physical based. The kids were outside running, hopping, doing cartwheels and rollie pollies! We also did skipping and sprint races.

This is a fabulous kit! My year 1-2 class were fully engaged in making world records it was great to watch. The team work and problem solving that comes with creating and attempting a world record is amazing. I was very impressed with both the kit and my kids using this! They learnt a lot about measurement and counting throughout. The resources that come with the kit are also great and so beautiful! We will be continuing with this next term as the kids are asking for it each day and it is so much fun! I like that the kids can control the challenge level for there world record until they are comfortable to try something different.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? One student stopped dead in her tracks one day as she overheard me saying we were doing maths. How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? There were many discussions about measurement. How we would measure it, what were we actually measuring. Right from the moment the skateboarding dog came onto the screen I knew I had them hooked. The DIY World Records kit has many possible ways in which to explore measurement and statistics. You can go super prescriptive or open it right up. I opened it right up and allowed students to make plenty of mistakes so that they could figure out the concepts and problem solve as they went. There was much fun and laughter to go alongside the learning and every student took part and was engaged.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Students were able to understand what data is and how to collect it accurately, and analyse it appropriately. This strengthened their analysis/conclusion because they understood the idea of a piece of data related to an individual's world record attempt.

I work at a middle school and requested this kit for our lower level learners in Year 7. It was a fun, interactive way to engage students in statistical ideas. They learnt how to accurately collect and record data.

This was a fun kit that the students really enjoyed learning with. The activities were fun and engaging. The students loved watching the world record videos and coming up with questions that they would ask them. I will definitely use this resource again.
