What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Many of my students chose to do running/jumping/skipping records. We ended up spending a lot of time outside completing the records. I also saw many of my students practicing their records during break times.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Next term we are doing a Science focus. I think having the previous knowledge of measuring and ensuring that something is completed the same each time (from the School Kit), will be good for our Science topic when we are needing to keep our experiements t

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? As a class we dreamt up our own records using the brainstorm cards. Learning about superlatives was new for most children.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children continue to practice the world records during the day.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Using the tape measures the children learnt how to measure accurately. They also learnt to read larger numbers through using the tape measures.

“As a Learning through Play junior classroom, we used the kit as a provocation. We introduced the children to the idea of world records and they made their own which prompted a discussion around what was measureable and what wasn't. The children loved trying out the records. Those who weren't immediately engaged often came and tried the record in their own time. We have seen equipment used in different ways after the world record attempts. A really fabulous kit.”

We did this as 'World Record Day' (though it spilled over a couple more days as we needed more time to complete the records), incorporating multiple curriculum areas. The kids seemed to like this, as they didn't even feel like they were doing 'school work

We slightly struggled coming up with some records, and adding the silly seemed to make it near impossible to measure - but we dialed it back a bit in order for our Year 4s to succeed.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We used the world record concept to look at other world record online news articles. We then pretended to interview the world record breakers in our class and wrote articles about them and their records.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have been offered a day at AUT Millenium through this school kit which is amazing!! We are going on September 20th. Thank you so much!
