How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? We completed along side our measurement and Add/sub units. The tie in was great.

The year 4 children of R12 loved this interactive kit. THey enjoyed the freedom of choosing their own ideas around what records they would like to break/make. I will definitely be doing this kit again.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Students always like to try new out of the box things especially with one another. They were all able to show leadership qualities through out.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will definitly be using this kit again so have saved cards to come up with more records

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The kids enjoyed using this across reading and they explored other records that other students or other people in the world have made, they wrote about it. This encouraged them to get active as this was often a good way to make a new record.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The kits are wanting to create new games or activities that other students can get involved in. Not only in our class but across the school

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? They had to think about how to measure their records and how to do this accurately and fairly. They needed to be able to repeat this measurement, so accuracy was important.
How successful was this kit in encouraging physical activity in your class?

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Students were inspired to demonstrate their many physical skills. It also encouraged them to see maths in the real world, so their basic facts and computations knowledge was used authentically.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Students are keen to continue trying to break more world records, with some even designing Christmas Day activities for the whole family.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Everyone loved the colourful minute-timers, measuring tapes and posters, filling in their cards with weird and wacky additions to their world-record hopes.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We used a lot of social contexts to discover why people might want to make world records. Looking at the different parts of the world and why some of the records are only possible in certain places
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are looking forward to future Olympic years and the world competitions as there was a lot of talking around this, especially because the women's rugby world cup occurred whilst we were investigating this unit. It sparked a lot of interest in the events

Our motto is "owning our future, owning our learning"and our tamariki definitely did both things with this kit. The kit was well equipped and the equipment was really colourful The planning was easy to follow, especially given this kit was used during term 4.

This was an engaging and entertaining kit that the class used, creating activities that were a little odd, helping those out-of-the-box thinkers! It was fun for everyone to practice and think about how they could improve their time, balance, accuracy, and how records need to be specific in order to make it different and achievable.
