How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? They now know that all art has a story behind it and that they need to be able to tell their story through the artwork
This kit helped us with understanding artists and their work. The students were able to experience with the stamp and using paint effectively. The students constructed their own be kind canvas, using what they had learnt in this kit to support their creations.

How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? The stamps were cool and we had fun with them. We made posters and wrote our own letters to our neighbours, showing how we can 'unteach' racism.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Using local (NZ) artists and looking further into the messages the art is conveying as a focus for further art lessons. Equipping students with the awareness of using the visual art as a way to share important messages.
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? Using art was powerful as it engages a diverse range of learners and showed them that art can convey important messages (instead of just through writing etc).

The idea of this kit worked in well with a schoolwide art exhibition that we were having. Kotahitanga is one of our school values, so it was a great connection for us.

It made the topic very real for the students and helped them to realise that we are all responsible

Even though it was developed out of Covid, it is a topic that is always important, and this made it easier for many of our kids to begin to explore what many see as a hard topi

Kids loved it and the printing blocks were so helpful. Some of our kids took it further and created their own printing blocks also.
