Thank you for this great kit. It was really fun the way the children had to come up with their own ideas for creating their cake. It allowed for a lot of experimentation and discussion around why some were more successful and tastier than others. It also showed the children that healthy ingredients can make for a delicious treat.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 1. I didn't think that any of the vegetables and fruit were going to be good to use in a cupcake. Maybe the apple, but it turned out ok. I don't think chickpeas made a difference. 2. My group was the only one to use betroot in the first round of baking, I love betroot. I couldn't taste it but turned our cupcakes into a nice pink colour. On the next round of baking everyone wanted to use betroot!
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The scales - Using scales for measuring allowed them to predict and weigh their ingredients.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The science project had them baking in the kitchen three times, transforming the classroom into a different space.
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy food in your classroom? After discovering that various combinations of vegetables worked, they felt confident taking more risks in the second round of baking. However, for some, it turned out to be too risky.
What learning from this kit can students take home to impact their family's wellness and health? Most of the class was unfamiliar with baking using vegetables. Now, they've learned which vegetables work well and which ones don't. They particularly enjoyed using beetroot for its color.

How can the learning in the kit go beyond the classroom to improve whānau wellbeing? Children are sharing their experiences and what they've learned during these three baking sessions with their whānau.
What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating? They are not familiar with some of the vegetables, and financial constraints are the barriers they encounter.
It was a fantastic way to tie in our topic on Solids, Liquids, and Matter. The kids enjoyed learning about the role of each core ingredient. In their first attempt at the recipe, they played it safe and got a good result. The second time, they took risks with the vegetable ingredients to enhance their recipe, but it led to flat and oddly textured cupcakes, some even inedible. The toolkit was well-equipped, and the kids had a great time with it!
