Electronic scales - so very helpful for the precise measurements - as 4 classes were working on this unit, we were able to pool our scales and each group could have a set for use when they were doing their cake trials. The recipe formula was a great foundation for innovating from.

Basic kitchen skills for some and opportunities to guide and lead for others. An. understanding of various sceintific components behind the making of cake as well as ways they can innovate with recipes - both this one and in other recipes after finding suitable substitutes.

It was great as students had to explore alternatives and with those alternatives - consider the nutritional benefits of them.
