Which kit components were the most impactful and why?
The basic components of making a cake, they wanted to be able to do this at home too. The swaps, a couple of the students looked up what else they could use instead of an egg and then went searching for banana.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners?
Loved the doing aspect of the kit and the taste testing was a hit. They were very empowered by being able to sample and compare. The taste test sheets were not too complex to fill in which meant they could get into the eating part
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy food in your classroom?
Chickpeas was very interesting for them as a canned product. Surprisingly, they weren't too keen on using the beetroot but I encouraged a group to use it. The corn and apple were safer as they were familiar with these products.
What learning from this kit can students take home to impact their family's wellness and health?
Substituting ingredients to reduce sugar intake. Binding foods and the components within a cake which could be replaced with healthier food options

They will share this learning at home, some students wanted to take the proportion sheet home with them
What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating?
Well I think canned food is a good option to be honest. Unfortunately fruit and vegetable prices are high and many people resort to buying convenience packaged foods
