Students had no idea how much sugar is hidden in everyday products. They now know how it is concealed in different names and they check nutritional labels on food. They also have continued to reduce the amount of sugar they use when baking.

The digital scales were fantastic for checking the accuracy of their estimates.

They will remember this learning and apply it to making better food choices and to consider using alternative, healthier ingredients when baking.

Very effective, lots of students tried different vegetables and legumes especially chickpeas, pumpkin, kumara because it was hidden in a cupcake.

They will be able to give advice when at the supermarket and make better choices with the food they have in their lunches at school.
