Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I liked working out the different amounts of stuff we needed to make the cupcakes. I liked baking with my teacher and my friends.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The weighing machine and learning about measuring ingredients out and learning how different foods can be used to make tasty kai.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Wanting to experiment more. They are inspired to cook other things. We got our own little oven for our classroom to do extra cooking.
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy food in your classroom? Learning about new foods, and how they tasted before and after cooking them.
What learning from this kit can students take home to impact their family's wellness and health? Showing their whānau that you can make yummy kai out of almost anything and it doesn't have to cost heaps.

This has been a fun activity for my students. They have enjoyed being able to experiment and learn about various ways to make a cake without loads of sugar.

Students loved this interactive activity. It brought about lots of discussion around healthy alternatives and the science of baking. I used this kit as an LSC with a junior class and highly recommend it.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? electric scales - could be used for so many other things in the classroom outside this kit. the review sheets also helped kids arrange their thinking really well.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? On it's own, just excitement and some awareness of sugar, fat etc. Combined with other classroom learning, it was quite powerful for some.
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy food in your classroom? Pretty good in the short term. Lots of conversations happening around morning tea and lunch. However this did start to wear off in the long term.
What learning from this kit can students take home to impact their family's wellness and health? Just having the confidence to make things at home and experiment a little with the recipes.

How can the learning in the kit go beyond the classroom to improve whānau wellbeing? It was good to build their confidence in making things themselves. I heard from some whānau who said their kids had come home and tried something similar at home.
What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating? cost, whānau knowledge, exposure to what they can eat/buy
The kids were really pumped about this and keen to get amongst. It tied in really well with our sessions with the Heart Foundation around healthy eating and looking into what is actually in food. It was a lot of heavier thinking for my class which went over the heads of some of them - but they loved getting back into the kitchen.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The printouts where all children got a copy. It was easy for all to follow and saved me time as a teacher.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Hopefully the benefits of vegetables and how easy they are to use!

This was a fantastic, hugely engaging kit. The children loved experimenting with different vegetable combinations to create sakes. From a teacher's point of view, the resources were great, easy to follow and to implement in the classroom.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Using cupcakes containers, rather than one large one as many different options were made available.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The love of experiemtning with different foods in cooking. Our next one is vegetable stir fry.
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy food in your classroom? I think it has made an impact on the tamariki as they were in control of their cooking experience.
What learning from this kit can students take home to impact their family's wellness and health? That you can cook with food at home and not buy takeaways as much - one of their comments.

How can the learning in the kit go beyond the classroom to improve whānau wellbeing? Reducing takeaway consumption - tamariki keen to experiemtn with cooking at home (if they are allowed)
What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating? Cost of food - having the funds to purchase product from the supermarket - we are now growing more veges at school with this class to see how that helps.
Tamariki loved experimenting with the various methods they could mix and cook the ingredients. They and I were too busy to take photos which is a real shame - probably the biggest "down" over the whole challenge.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Apple made the cake nice and I want to make them at home with mum. I'm going to have healthy cakes now because I can take out the sugar.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The recipe review cards because they focused the students in on the aspects of the cakes.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That 40g of baking powder and 20g of baking soda won't make big yummy cakes. It will make a big reaction and then fall and taste gross.
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy food in your classroom? Average. They know and understand when talking about it but it didn't have an impact on what they are eating.
What learning from this kit can students take home to impact their family's wellness and health? That they don't need all of the sugar in baking.
