My class really enjoyed this kit, it was something different too anything that we had done before. The logistics were quite tricky but we got there and had some great success.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them We added too much sugar and it exploded like a volcano. I didn't know you could cook with butter and eggs.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? baking a cake with vegetables, children were super suprised that this worked.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? experiment with cooking and it doesn't matter if it does not work
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy food in your classroom? It had little impact on healthy food eating. Healthy eatingis controlled by what families buy. To improve this we need to get the big food companies to change.

What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating? Healthy eating is controlled by the family knowledge on food. The barrier is the knowledge in the family adn the family budget.
This was a fantastic resource. I was however disappointed at the value of the shopping card. I was not able to get all the supplies needed to fulfill the requirements of the kit I had to add at least $30 and supplement some of the ingredients from home. The children however loved the experience that they got out of finding out what they could substitute and how important measuring was and doing things in order.

What learning from this kit can students take home to impact their family's wellness and health? The children made different recipes and shared them at home. Baking that was done with families was shared on Seesaw back to the school.

Great unit that tied in nicely to our learning around sustainability and science. We were changing states of matter with cooking and this unit was perfect for it.

What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating? Parents not realising what is healthy and just continuing to supply unhealthy food as they are easy and the kids want them.
It is at first very confusing to work your way through all the info as a teacher. Where do you start? What is the aim? There are no chronological steps to follow. The teacher's one-sheet info is helpful and that is what I used to gather my thoughts and work out a strategy. The science part as well as videos are aimed at Year 7 and older. I adjusted what I looked at to suit my Year 5s and 6s. My students enjoyed the baking and choosing part. We are going to continue to see what we can make with substitutes. Also, as our students are planning a veggie garden, what recipes we can design to go with our veggies. And... we are also designing recipes to use with the leftover fruit we have in school like apple pancakes, etc. So we are on a roll now. Thanks to this kit! Thank you.

The children really enjoyed this kit. The lesson guide was super helpful and the videos supported this module perfectly. The children's reflections on their cakes were honest, where some were very successful and some were not. The scoring 'vocabulary' - ie structure was helpful in getting the children to be specific with their reflections.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I loved trying the different cakes. They were fun to make in our teams. (year 6) My cake was yummy and we got to change some of the ingredients out. Hopefully we can make more. (year 5)
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The handouts were great because they were full of information and gaves the children a focus.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That baking and science go hand in hand with math.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Many commented on not knowing you could make a cake without eggs. One child in particular was really excited as they were able to develop a recipe that they could make for their mum (special dietary restrictions).
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The visual posters that showed the options to swap out - visual was really helpful for the kids to understand.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Experiments can yeld amazing new discoveries!

What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating? They often aren't the ones purchasing it. Parents don't want to spend money on things that might not be eaten.
This was another great kit that got us experimenting and thinking differently. This was an idea that most of the students had not had experience with before so it was great to have the planning to support this concept.
