The recipe we used was simple yet nutritious, incorporating vegetables like carrots and zucchini into a moist and delicious cake. The students were initially hesitant about the idea of vegetables in their dessert, but their skepticism quickly turned into excitement as they watched the ingredients come together and smelled the irresistible aroma filling the room. As they tasted the finished product, their faces lit up with surprise and delight, realizing that vegetables can indeed make for a scrumptious treat. Not only did they enjoy the process of baking, but they also learned the importance of incorporating more vegetables into their diet in a fun and enjoyable way. It was a great experience for the kids. It got them engaged because it involved food but also got the kids to think about ingredients and substitution. The previous year we had looked at sustainability and looking at how to grow micro greens in large scale production. This linked with this unit.

The students loved the hands on experience. We did in small groups which worked really with with cooperating and sharing the resourcers. I would love to do this again with my class this year or next year. I think the students have not had much experience with cooking at home so this definetly helped. Some then have shared photos of what they have gone on to make with their parents.
