I was surprised with how they tasted at the end especially the chickpeas! I really enjoyed working as a team and seeing what the colour and size of the other cakes came out like compared to ours.

The canned apples and I think the new foods like chickpeas and beetroot had the most impact

Trying new things, learning about how ingredients impact the outcome of the cake

It definitely introduced a couple of new foods such as beetroot and chickpeas to students who normally wouldn't have had them before.

Looking at alternatives and lessening our sugar in our food.

Definitely a discussion point for whānau and somewhere to get the conversation going. Also knowing that we can use alternatives for our cookings. Also we discussed allergies and why we might look at alternatives when it comes to cooking/baking.

Cost, have they been introduced to it before and something that they will actually eat?
