They were quick to understand how the changes they made impacted their end product. My class all looked forward to taste-testing their creation, even if they didn't always enjoy the taste.

This was a great kit. The students were highly engaged and enjoyed the hands-on learning. It made science easy for me to teach, meaning I could cover more chemistry learning than I would have otherwise. I did have to buy a lot of extra food to make it work which was expensive. Next time it could be cool at all some key learning posters/ prompts to refer back to such as a poster on healthy eating or chemical/ physical reactions.

How can the learning in the kit go beyond the classroom to improve whānau wellbeing? by using the base recipe at home with whatever vegetables are around.
What barriers do your students face to access healthy eating? not many
We enjoyed the maths and science behind the Make a Vege Cake kit. Learning how to make a base cake recipe was great and some children went home and tried this for themselves. The instructions could have been clearer, with a little more explanation needed around added ingredients or where the baking powder comes in or whether it replaces something or is in addition to. I felt a lot of the initial instructions were inferential. Overall, it was good and I will definitely do this again.
