I was insured with them for my first year of driving at an extortionate rate. When my renewal came around they declined it and didn’t give me a good reason. (Seeing as my details had not changed other than 1 year no claims.) I then bought another car which had an extra 150 bhp than my previous car. They then decided to insure me on this for another year for another extortionate price. As before they declined my renewal with the same car when my insurance was coming to an end. I have decided to stay clear of them this time and stay with a company that has customer loyalty.

I haven’t had to claim and have only just taken a policy. However I am not filled with confidence. After finding these on a comparison site and signing up for my insurance. I noticed that all the things I requested on the comparison site were not included even though they we when I was diverted to the 1st central site. I contacted them and all I got was “you can still cancel” no apology for a misleading practice and advertising things they do not include. I needed the cheapest quote so I have had to stay but I pray I never have to claim.

I decided to insure my car with 1st Central because they gave me the cheapest quote. For the last 10 I have been trying to deal with their validation department as they have been asking for all sorts of documents, which I have never been asked before. If I knew I would have to go through this I would have never left my previous insurance provider, despite being slightly more expensive. Very bad start and I don't even want to think how it would be like if I had to deal with something serious.

cheap for first year , had a claim against me while i was renewing although i was fighting claim they took 4 years ncb off me almost doubled my insurance premium i then won claim had my 4 years ncb they had taken of me returned but they only refunded 6% premium after a blazing row over phone and threatening them with ombudsman. my advise avoid like the black death , if you look at other review sites you see they done this too many others as well.

Problem with my cancellation. THen has to spend an hour sorting this out and ended up having to pay more. Joke.

Avoid........1st Central want to charge more to cancel a policy then it would cost to just let it run for 8 months. Avoid at all costs........ basically you can't cancel a policy with out it costing you money.....

Hi I’ve been a customer with 1stcentral, I had an accident about 2 months ago they told me my car was a right off so I scrapped it, then they tell you they could fix it once it’s been scrapped, do not take insurance with this company they are all con artists, they take your money offer you high prices for insurance then find ways not to pay you out, customer service is also a disgrace, DO NOT TAKE INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY, I’ll be contacting the papers to let everyone no not to get coned of this company.

I took out a policy and it cost so much per month ... I changed the vehicle and the premium went up by nearly £20 a month. Nearly £200 over the year. I then did a fresh quote online to find that it would have been cheaper to cancel and start the policy again. I do not understand the difference in price!!! I expected a cost to change it, maybe an admin charge of £20 or so, but not a £194 charge!!! This I find very disappointing and when I have completed a year My business will go elsewhere.

Absolutely useless, you have done nothing to help sort out the problem, if anything you put obstacles in the way. I wouldn't recommend your company to anybody. Total waste of time.

I am existing customer and I am very disappointed. This is the worst insurance company I have been with. There fees for any changes are absolutely ridiculous. They charged me a £100 for changed my policy. The company make enough profit from someone like me who never had accident from 8 years!

CURRENT CUSTOMER - 2 Policies - WARNING: Absoloutley useless.Try every trick in the book to get you off the phone and lie to you. Other companies are much cheaper. IMPORTANT: Overcharged me for 1 year and I've been waiting over 3 months for the cheque. Theyre liars on the phone, did not process my complaint correctly and do not call you back when they say they will (I am currently still insured with them). I havent had to claim with them yet but lose sleep over the thought of the day they try and cheat me out of a car sized payout. I will never use them again and neither should you if you are reading this. At least 12 hours on the phone, months of waiting and a huge error on they're side which meant the payment to pay me the overpayment back didn't get processed and they offered me £50 (after the 1st £50 compensation cheque failed to ever materialise). BEWARE: The staff are VERY easily upset on the phone, will read a script back to you, threaten to end the call and will leave you on hold for 45 mins at a time while they think of a plan to get you off the phone (TIP: The plan is usually leaving you on hold for 45 minutes and telling you the person / department you need to speak with are busy or not there). POLICY: They offer 0 benefits of any worth with the insurance. I'm 25 and do not have automatic ability to drive 3rd party on other cars (unlike most insurers). SUMMARY: I purchased this policy in haste and in retrospect would rather have slammed my fingers in my car door then be tied in with this joke of an insurer in any way. I've paid them over £1000 to continue doing this to future customers. (Someone is supposed to be calling me on Tuesday as they told me they no longer want me as a customer because one of theyre contact centre staff are upset so I will follow up with any response they have made to this or if they bother calling me at all).

Very disappointed that I wanted to change my car over to a new car. I got a quote one day of £22 then the next day when I wanted to change it it went up to £58. I spoke to someone who said they work on a live system but this just seems ridiculous. I then went on line and got policy for the same car cheeper then if I changed it over. I only stayed with this company as they where the creepiest and I’m on a tight budget otherwise I would have moved. I think their loyalty is shocking!

Very poor customer service! After calling to change address, felt like i was speaking to a robot absolutely awful experience, no manners no friendliness, no help! Ended up having to cancel policy This is the worst insurance company I have been with. Be warned that if you make any changes, or be unlucky and have to use the policy it will be your worst nightmare! Please stay away from 1st central !

Took this policy out and made a mistake on the main driver section, paid in full and realised the mistake within a couple of hours. When I called to amend this (on the same day) I was told I had to pay £30 to change! This was a policy for my partner, I was already with 1st central for my own insurance, which the company had made an error with on their side by having my partner as policy holder which was not the case. So I had to get my partner to give authority for me to discuss my own policy, to be later told it was an error on the system. Didn’t want to pay to cancel but I will not be insuring with 1st central again!

This is the worst insurance company I have been with. They are cheap for a reason! be warned that if you make any changes, or be unlucky and have to use the policy it will be your worst nightmare! Please stay away from 1st central ! Poor customer service They don't read all scripts to advise you of fee's They all tell you something different

asked us to send confimation of documents i sent them and phoned up to queery policy amount going up said they would call back and noone has come bck to me, not what i call good policies for new customers, and then get an email asking to recommend them to other people

Hi there, I had very bad experience. Due to some personal reasons, I decided to cancel my car insurance after 31 days. I have been charged £50 for set up fee plus £50 for cancellation fee. They charged me total £100 for cancellation fee, it is double i expected. . Also they charged maximum interest from my first instalment, i mean they charged about £14 on £33, it was about 30% total interest of 11 instalments . Customer service was also very rude and not helping. My call was placed on hold or drop when I requested to transfer my call to manager or senior customer adviser. Very bad experience. I will not recommend any of my friend and family.
