I joined 1st Central before being told by my car dealer that my car had complimentary insurance. So before I collected my new car I called 1st Central on their rip off 0843 (43p/min) number to cancel my 9 hour old policy! I was put on hold many times and was finally refunded my policy amount minus £50 admin charge. The 21 min call cost me over £9. So basically a policy which I didn't need or use cost me nearly £60. AVOID this company as they use every way they can to extract extra funds from you. Very Unfair.

Thw system was hard to navigate. Every time I got to the payment page it said please wait and was like that continuously. In the end ended up having duplicate policies with money taken out of my bank account twice. I now have to bear the brunt of the 2% surchage on a policy i did not take out in the first place!!!

I took out a policy on 19th March and 2 hours later cancelled the policy because I found a cheaper quote elsewhere. Unfortunately, I was told the policy couldn't be cancelled because they of an error. I was told a note would be left on the system. I wasn't happy so called the following day and the person I spoke to didn't have the note and therefore I had to try and cancel again. There was an error again and they couldn't cancel the policy. I was told to wait but asked to be called back, this never happened, so I called again on 24th March and was assured the policy would be cancelled plus someone would call me back to discuss the error/problem. Not had a call/email to discuss... It's now the 26th March! Overall very poor system and service.

Had to claim for total loss of my car. They sent a cheque for far less than the car was worth. I phoned to complain and the lady I spoke to said it was a interim payment and that I would get more if I was not happy. I realised that this was probably a trick to get me to bank the cheque so posted it back and the second phone conversation I had with first central was told that that was not the case and it was the full and final offer. Do not use this company, they play dirty tricks and there service is appalling. Currently seeking advice from the ombudsman. Use a decent company like Aviva who I now use. Had to make a claim on my travel insurance and they were excellent.

I had an accident in my car, and this resulted in the car been written off. Since the accident I have experienced very bad customer service. I have had to call on a number off occasion to find out what was happened with the claim. I then was told I was offered a payout, which I excepted. I was then told from this amount excess and the remainder of the years insurance would be deducted, I was pleased with this and waited for the cheque. This took longer than expected even though after a several calls was told the cheque was on its way. I finally received the cheque. 2 months later I purchased a new car. I contacted them to change the details on my policy as I was still insured with them. On my call I was told I had to pay over £100 outstanding balance. When I explained there was no outstanding balance as my insurance was paid up in full they would not let me insure the new car until I agreed to pay this and set up a direct debit each month over £100 I called customer service to try and sort this mistake out and was advised to call the claims department as this is something they need to sort out. I called the claims department to be told they don't deal with this side of things and I need to call customer services. After many many calls about £200 in calls witch I will be looking to claim back. I am still no further forward to hawing this sorted out. I have cancelled my direct debit as I do not need to be paying a monthly amount as I am paid up until the end of my insurance policy runs out. I have never experienced as much bad customer services as I have at 1stcentral. I will never recommend this company to any of my friends and family. Stay away from them.

Too many departments, too little communication between all their departments. They all say something different. My claim with them was handled very badly from beginning to finish.

At the time tried to cancel my policy within the 14 day period, was very hard to do. Was passed from person to person, very poor communication between 1st Central.

It was easy to set up the insurance and the price was lower than most of the other companies however even after calling and being told a second time that my documents were going to be emailed to me, I am yet to receive them. Some people feel a lot more comfortable with written proof of insurance. Not Impressed.
