Buyer beware. Alamo uses shady business practices that has cost me hundreds of dollars in additional expenses. I arrived at Chicago Midway at 1:00 AM, virtually checked in for my rental car and headed to the remote rental car garage. Upon arrival I found the garage to be empty. A supervisor approached and said they were out of cars. The choices were to Uber to Ohare airport where there MAY be a rental car or Uber to a hotel and hope for a car in the morning. Ohare is an hour away and an additional hour out of my way. The supervisor said that no matter what we did the additional expenses would be covered. SHOCKER! Alamo does not want to cover any expenses. The "Escalation Supervisor" stated that a reservation does not guarantee a car. He stated that a reservation is to settle on pricing; to decide what size vehicle; and to set a time, date, and location. When I explained that the very definition of a reservation is to set something aside for one person and not give to another, he stated that is not how Alamo defines a reservation. What I am left with: $150 in Uber fees, $160 hotel cost, and additional $220 in fees incurred due to a last minute rental with another company, and an empty promise from a Alamo supervisor. What I have received: A comment from and agent that Alamo will cover nothing and that I have choices in rental car companies.

**Review:** I had a terrible experience with Alamo at Vancouver Airport. Despite booking and paying in advance, I waited over 3 hours for a car due to their car wash being down. The manager was rude and unhelpful, offering no solutions. The car I received was old and faulty, with no working phone charger, making navigation impossible. After wasting a day trying to swap the car at another location, I was stuck with the same vehicle for the entire week. Upon return, I was unfairly charged $800 for minor damage that wasn’t properly inspected when I picked up the car. Overall, the service was appalling, and the staff, particularly the manager, were unprofessional and dismissive. I will never use Alamo again.

I reserved a rental car at Milwaukee airport. I observed counter worker, Gayle wait on a white man and never asked him for a second piece of identification. I was confused when she asked me for a second piece of identification. I said, I did see you ask the gentleman in front of me for one. She said, well the RNC was here and there are a lot of bad people renting cars so we have required Milwaukee residents to provide a second ID. When I asked to see that in writing she said it was a new policy and wasn’t in writing. I said how can you enforce something that is not in writing. She said here is my supervisor. Akira, was extremely rude saying loudly that either I can give another form of ID or she would run my driver’s license through the DMV. I asked how long does that take. In a rude tone Akira said as long as it takes. My DOB, is 7/27 and my drivers license had expired on that date. I started to have my husband rent the car, but after the discriminatory treatment I received I canceled my reservation and chose to go elsewhere in the airport. The rental company we used never asked for any additional information and documents. When I called Alamo customer service and talked to Lisa, she was rude saying they make laws and policies every day, totally diminishing my complaint. After seeing how based on her comments and tone, she supported the racist acts and treatment of Gayle and Lisa, I chose to share my experience. calling Alamo’s racist practices out call! Enough!

I rented a car a the DFW (Dallas Fort-Worth airport). When I turned it in, it looked perfect to me (no damage) and the attendant that accepted the car didn't say anything. A month later I get a voice message saying the Alamo Claims Department had an outstanding claim against me. Apparently, the vehicle received some minor hail damage (at some point) and that damage was identified the day after I retuned the vehicle. When I explained to the claims person that there was no hail damage when I turned the vehicle in, she responded "There were weather reports of hail during your rental period"... So, apparently Alamo can accept the vehicle on a Sunday morning, not identify any damaged then on a Monday, a different Alamo inspector can identify hail damage and if there was hail Sunday afternoon and Sunday night and even Monday early morning (all when you don't have the vehicle) Alamo can just claim it was your responsibility. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE....

DO NOT rent a car from Alamo rental if you have any other options. We were charged an exorbitant amount of money to extend our rental for 2 days due to the IT debacle in July 2024 which was entirely out of our control. This company has no empathy and they will charge your card whatever amount even when the quoted price for the extension was half the amount charged. Even with phoning both the location and corporate no resolution to the situation.

When booking the rental online I put in a pick up and drop off location at YHZ international airport. When I got the confirmation the pick up location was a hour away in the opposite direction of where I would be going. When I called to change the location they told me I could not change or cancel the reservation. I called several times and no one would help me. They told me I would not get a refund and they can’t change the pick up location. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a car rental company. I am now out over 500 dollars I strongly advise people to not use Alamo Great way to start a vacation!!!!!!

I got robbed 120eur for extra insurance I did not purchase Billund, DENMARK. On website I paid for rental with basic cover(no extra insurance). At the pickup desk, guy asked me if I want extra full cover insurance, I said NO that was fine. Then he took my Credit card details for deposit, that was fine. Then I returned the car as per contract Billund, DENMARK May 2024 ! Three days later I get charged on my credit card for insurance cover I did not Purchased. Reply I got "We have your signature" type of bs.. Somebody here is robbing customers, so to speak. Stay away as far as you can!!! I had rented 20x in my life accross Europe from almost all major car rentals but never ever before was robbed like this.

Avoid at all costs. Booked and pre-paid for an SUV for 3 days in Southampton Central. I was 10mins away from collect the car when they called me said they didn't have that car despite I had pre-paid and asked if I could go to Southampton Airport. Which far away! They sent me there in an uber and left me for 2 1/2 hours because they wouldn't accept me paying the deposit over the phone, via tap and pay or bank transfer, their pay terminals weren't working at the airport. In the end they refused and left me to find my way home on a train and still haven't refunded me my money I had pre-paid. Very unhelpful service by Loise at Southampton Central and some graduate who was manning the airport shop.

we used this company via virgin holidays, we brought our own standalone insurance, we did not need anything else, we expected to get charged a airport fee which we were happy with, got home over $400 taken from card for things we didnt agree to, contacted alamo at miami airport who will not help, i have since read reviews on this company and theyve done things like this alot and are very sneeky so i advise you rent off another company, its discusting to take advantage of tired travellors, we have rented from them before and all was fine but now theyve ripped us off we wont be doing so again and we travel alot, BE VERY AWARE OF THIS COMPANY we did not sign anything to say we agree with all the charges now taking further

Easy to rebook our needs literally at the last minute on-line. The Hyundi i130 was excellent for the amount of driving we did from Bilbao, through Basque Country, Logrono, final destination Valencia, about 1200++ Kms. A very comfortable drive. Drop off wasn't so easy as entry into Valencia train station drop off point not so well marked, however office staff very helpful - drop off spot at opposite end of complex to the office. After years of renting cars in Europe, we stupidly forgot to refuel, even though a small amount, we were given the opportunity to refuel or be charge.
