“I had a new front door fitted in December 2019 and recently, I've found it doesn't lock. I had requested an engineer with no reply (within 24 hours), then emailed Anglian with no reply. The phone line was also ringing out with no message to inform me of offices being closed. When I managed to get through to someone via a different email address (almost immediately), I was told that ALL offices in Scotland had closed and no one would be able to come out. I told them this was a security and safety issue; they still couldn't help. What did they suggest? I asked them. Nothing, they can't help and definitely don't offer an emergency call out service as stated in the contract.
They stated that this was because of the Covid pandemic and I informed them that essential work was to be undertaken where health, safety and security were in jeopardy and having checked the government website, I copy and paste the easily accessible and open information below:
Examples of essential work may include:
- to carry out utility (including electricity, gas, water, telephone, broadband) safety checks, repairs, maintenance and installations (where those cannot be delayed).
- to carry out repairs and maintenance that would otherwise threaten the household’s health and safety.
- urgent repairs and maintenance - time critical repairs and maintenance that threaten the household’s health and safety
Anglian; get your facts right and provide the customer service that you heavily sold me on. I now cannot leave the house and have to sleep with the door unlocked because your policies are greatly flawed.
I am appalled.”
“I moved into my new property in November 2020. The previous owners had replaced windows and doors with Anglian in 2019.
We discovered the composite front door would not close properly hinges faulty. The door had to be forced open and close, scraping the frame each time and getting progressively worse.
I tried to place a service call only to be told the guarantee was with the previous owners and I had to pay to transfer in to my name. I did this and after placing service call, getting nowhere, phoning and venting, a manager came out in December, confirmed door and frame needed urgent attention. He could not repair but would get parts and send Engineer.
Engineer attended a few weeks later, it was pointless. He did the same, looked at the door said he could not repair, would order parts and be back as urgent.
I have not seen or heard from them since.
Today I contacted customer service department on live chat to enquire what was happening. Guess what!! I was sent a link to request a service engineer visit.
It is like groundhog day.
The longer this goes on the more damage is being caused to the door and frame.
I have yet again placed a call, what appalling customer service”
“ABSOLUTE COWBOYS
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
In 2019 Anglian lied to us about their ability to supply bespoke joinery that would match our existing windows. They took thousands of pounds from us, smashed our existing windows and then fitted assembly line frames that looked nothing like what we had ordered.
Their hideous, thick frames cut out 40% of the light in our kitchen and we now have to have the lights on all day.
We have been fighting them for two years. They even refused to refund the deposit on a living space they openly admitted that they couldn't supply. They told us we had to have an assembly-line conservatory instead. Not what was sold to us by the bully-boy salesman.
Whatever you do, do not use this company. Go onto Facebook and find the group 'Anglian Home Improvements Dissatisfied Customers' of over 800 customers who have been cheated out of their money.
Anglian trades on a reputation that is completely fake. Their brochures are full of lies. Do not use them under any circumstance.”
“Weird salesman arrived, everything was an issue or a negative. He definitely wasn't selling us his confidence because just the way he was behaving was off putting. Upon seeing shutters he was ohhh yeah that an issue hmm. Then upon asking for Georgian bar on top he was mmm yeah do u really want that. Also said we don't do sales we give u our one price and thats it we don't barter like years ago. Also said windows aren't what they used to be price wise, I said our builder we were looking at 8-10k he was ohhh no that was tonks ago and proceeded to tell us the guy up the road paid £36k another £24k. So we're already losing interest here. A few days later came back with a quote of £19000 for Windows on a 3 bed semi detached for which we were quoted between £9-12k elsewhere!!! What the hell! Emailed him to say we've had better quotes and he replied back saying okay thanks all the best. Lol yeah mate all the best with ur £19k wacko quote.”
“DO NOT SIGN UP ON YOUR FIRST CALL WITH ANGLIAN! They will drop 50%!
I spoke to Anglian to get a quote to get 5 windows in my property double-glazed and it was a complete and utter waste of my time. A 90 minute consultation with a babbling salesman giving the worst sales pitch of "Your clearly a very intelligent customer" nonsense resulted in a quote for.... £12,000! I got quotes from two other companies as a comparison and that were offering the exact same service for between £5-7k.
The salesmanship is truly inappropriate. Being told that the salesman is retired and using his special pension discount to get YOU just YOU such a low price because you're so special? Absolutely disgraceful and they're being reported.
This is their sales tactic, offer an insane price (£15k) then suddenly drop thousands as a "special discount" (£12k) while trying to talk up premium quality. Then the salesperson's manager will call you, and then someone else, each time the price will drop. A friend of mine did this over 3 months and his window price came down 50%.”
“Over priced, incompetent and very poor workmanship.
Fitters broke window frame and tried to hide the damage with a bodged repair job. Never got a FENSA certificate until 3years later! Never got an apology.
Also, they use contractor window fitters.....the same contractors used by Anglian’s cheaper competitors like safe style UK, ......SO WHY PAY MORE?”
“Hi i just like to say how bad this company is ,where to start so many places , firstly the windows were 1 year old when i purchest house. I had to pay to transfer warranty fine . When renovations started ie wall paper removed we noticed daylight coming in from different parts of the frames and a cold air !!!! 1 the window were fixed with spray foam no fixings . 2 the front door was about to fall out it was serious. I had to have someone to re render and fix windows . 2 i had two by different front door and i booked a service call 12/12/2019 no show iv tried to book 6 or 7 more no show its now boxing day 2020 still waiting i recon 2021 it may get done no date 1 year so far no show loads of excuses but no show trading standard soon . Stay clear of this company , very very very poor instalation and service , there's more but it upsetting so just take this warning.”
“Had my bifold doors fitted in June 2018. Ongoing problems, just cancelled for the 5th time. Can’t be bothered to sort out the problems.
DO NOT USE THEM , THEY DO NOT CARE”
“Awful company..... Pushy sales techniques....to the point of harassment. Still cold calling me now. Also tried ripping me off with inflated prices. Go local and feel better. Don't give these thieves your hard earned cash”
“Guarantee not worth the paper its written on!
Bought a property which had windows patio doors and front composite door fitted all round with guarantees in place. However will not transfer warranty over as they said it was over the transfer period of 28 days in contract small print! I am sure no one would be aware just after moving house seems like they will try to wriggle out of ant guarantee by defaulting to small print. I was less than 2 weeks over their stated transfer period and in that time my father died in hospital of covid after contacting it post hip fracture, no goodwill given or flexibility. Dont Buy Anglian”
“absolute daylight robbery...they are fraudsters because they say they are a company that fits doors etc but couldn't fit a light bulb! They run away with your money and get away with it...some one somewhere needs to slap a court order on this company to stop them trading. Please dont even let them in your home. They pretended they would install a front door, took my money and left me with a useless, dropping to bits, leaky mess. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!”
“I won't go into full details as it will be too lengthy but I had a poorly installed composite front door. Damage also caused to property at additional cost to myself. Anglian ignored communication after communication. 9 months after installation matters have almost been sorted out. I was offered £75 compensation on the proviso that I don't leave negative reviews on Social Media etc. I'm not poor enough to accept! The worst company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with in my 57 years.”
“Please believe me when you read this. A dreadful inadequate and woeful company who's after sales service does not exist. I have been waiting since 04.02.2020 for them to come back out and rectify a problem with the patio doors that they poorly installed. I have just had my third appointment cancelled till 11.03.2021. That's over 13 months away from my first arranged appointment and whose to say they will even turn up for that. When I asked if they deal with there sales with the same lack of urgency I was told that they could not answer that. Do yourself a favour and believe me you will thank me for it. Do not deal with these cowboys.”
“Had windows ,french doors fitted in August 19. Ever since 3 windows and french doors have been difficult to close, we were told by fitters they would wear in. November 20 they still haven’t, culminating in the french doors not locking.Called on Saturday 7th November to report doors not locking, they only work Monday-Friday so had to call again Monday.Couldn’t book over phone only online. I told Megan Barraclough at Anglian that this was a serious situation as I couldn’t lock my property therefore my home insurance wouldn’t be valid should I need to make a claim. Also I provide 24hr care on a Saturday and Sunday, leaving on a Monday morning for a cancer patient and whilst I understand that I would have to cancel that care for that weekend as I couldn’t leave the property insecure I fully expected it to be done by the following weekend Sat14-Sun15th)so I could then return to my care duties. I was told under the circumstances she was sure I’d be a priority and that when I made the service request online I must mark it as urgent.Anyway I’d still not heard anything so I emailed to ask what was been done. Can’t do anything until it’s filtered down to us but I’m sure we’ll get a reply today, guess what no reply. I was also informed that they weren’t a emergency service!!I never thought they were but I just wanted to make sure my house was secure. But thanks for the sarcasm.I got a call on Wednesday to say engineer will be here on Monday 16th between 8am-5pm. A great timescale !!Once again meaning that I couldn’t provide the 24hr care. Over weekend 14th,15th. So I stayed home Monday 16th also, and waited and waited for the engineer. At 5 pm I called as no one has materialised!! Waited in queue( must be a lot of disgruntled customers calling!) only to be cut off at 5.29 offices now closed. You guessed it this morning I called to ask what had happened and to express my annoyance with the fact that I had lost another weekends work and now a Monday as well. I’d had no call on Monday to let me know that the engineer wasn’t coming. I spoke to Joanne Potts at Anglian and was told the engineers wife was poorly so he had gone home, GREAT. Joanne the told me an engineer will be with me Friday morning, however I’ve received email saying between 8am-5pm! I told Joanne I was dissatisfied with the service and thought I should be due some recompense . Well I just don’t understand why you need to take Friday off when you told me weekends was when you did your care and when the problem was. That was the nonchalant answer I got. Well guess what I told her as I’m self employed I actually work 7 days a week at the moment as I offer a cleaning/ caring service.and There’s a lot of people needing help at this difficult time. Having a faulty locking door has so far cost me £980 lost revenue, not to mention the stress. But they were not bothered about that at all. Customer service at Anglian is dire, you don’t get helpfulness straight away. However you do receive sarcasm. The quality of the workmanship is dubious, along with the actual product . Any problems that arise on a weekend can’t be dealt with until the following week. Online help only as well.Choose another company if your looking for windows etc. These are terrible.”
“Anglian are a company to be avoided.
The installers that we were allocated were just awful .
They had no pride in their workmanship.
Anglian themselves were rude and uncommunicative.
The installers went awol for 10 days on a 5 day installation.
When they finally showed up again and we asked where they had been they said they had been sent on a different job.
No-one bothered to tell the customer.
They have no customer services .
We have emailed several of the directors over our problems but did not get a single response.
Who is running this company so badly ?
During installation our drive was left badly stained.
When we pointed this out to a supervisor we were told we take no responsibility, it is your word against ours ?
Unbelievable.
Avoid like the plague .”
“Had a large conservatory installed in 2017 which came with a 10 year guarantee. 3 years in and our roof is leaking substantially. I requested a repair under our guarantee but Anglian are claiming it is not valid based on a term that isn't even included in any of the Ts & Cs or small print!! Defaulting on a 10 year guarantee, just 3 years in, absolutely appalled! Now they want to charge us for an engineer to come out and inspect, plus the repair. I raised this as a complaint and didn't even receive an acknowledgement. I had to chase for a reply and then received a rude response stating it's company policy, but with no other explanation or justification. Zero customer service and zero aftercare!! Disgusted! I would not recommend Anglian to anyone.”
“We had a visit from a rather arrogant rep who pressurised us into putting down a large deposit for a future job. We soon realised that this was a mistake so cancelled the work before even seeing their surveyor and having measurements taken. However getting our deposit back is a total nightmare. We've had no replies to our emails, and no phone calls after leaving messages with customer care staff. This company is a total disgrace and should not be allowed to keep hold of our deposit when they won't be doing any work.”
“Following a visit from a rather arrogant rep, we were pressurised into making a large deposit for work to be done. When we realised that this was a mistake, we immediately cancelled the work (before even seeing their surveyor or having measurements taken etc) but are now having a nightmare trying to get our deposit back. There have been no replies to our emails and no-one has phoned us back after we've left numerous messages. This company are a total disgrace and should not be allowed to treat us like this and sit on our deposit which should be paid straight back.”
“This Company have tried to avoid refunding the cost of a defective door, so I have now gone down the MCOL (money claim online) route, quite happy for the court to hear just how bad they treat their customers.
Avoid at all costs, they are simply rubbish.”
