My mother who is 90 got Phonak hearing aids from Boots at Broughton Park Chester last year at a cost of over £2000. These are the bronze level aids, the advantages of silver and gold aids were explained but as she doesn’t use a mobile phone or watch much tv or do much socialising in noisy environments it was considered that this level would meet her requirements. I have to say we are disappointed with the outcome as she still frequently asks us to repeat things. I went back with her today and saw the original audiologist. I explained that, for example, on the way there with just the two of us in the car she couldn’t hear what I was saying. The audiologist said this was due to the acoustics in the car and when I said it also happens at home she said the aids were really only suitable for one to one face to face conversations. She then said she would turn them up and that was it. We were in and out in 7 minutes. I don’t think my mother has gained much advantage by spending a lot of money on these hearing aids over the free NHS version. I would be interested in your response to this and if you have had other similar complaints.

I cannot complain about the initial service and my hearing aids.. my problem has been the aids constantly popping out..and lost one more than once but found again. Lost one completely and was quoted £1185 for a replacement..and they fitted a plastic retainer to the existing one..why they hadn’t suggested this when I originally bought them I don’t know. I am trying to manage with the remaining aid because the cost of replacing the lost one is more than a months pension for me…..

I lost my left hearing aid whilst on holiday, it was prone to slipping out which sadly it did. As this will involve having a new impression being carried out (the reason for the aid slipping out in the first place) a 45 minute appointment was required. The only appointment available was May 13th 2022, This is a long time to be without good hearing, not a good service!

One hearing aid has stopped functioning. I phoned the help line only to be told that there no available appointments in any of the shops 20 plus miles or more away from my location until May which will be some 7 weeks or worse. An absolute disgrace. I can however post it to Wales 1st class recorded delivery at me expense. How about I stop paying until I get the service I was promised 😡

I find the after care of Boots hearing eids totally unsatisfactory. My hearing aid disconnected from my phone. This happened on the 25 March I was given the 15 th April as nearest appointment. I was also told I could go to Boots and see if they would see me. Unable to see me. Today phone call to cancel today and earliest May!! What is happening to the aftercare service?

I went for my first hearing test at Boots Hearingcare, Canterbury. The audiologist I saw was really friendly, informative and professional. However, in the room where you have your hearing test, above you is a really noisy fan! I struggled to listen for the sounds as all I could hear was the noise of the fan. I did ask if it could be switched off but apparently it couldn't due to the store policy. I will have to try and book another test elsewhere as I'm not convinced how reliable the results of the test were.

Rubbish customer service. Lost one hearing aid. Rang the next day. Got a "quote" over 2 weeks later - in the meantime had a hearing test, replacement aids from elsewhere at a much reduced price & excellent service & product
