The service I received from BPL solicitors was not what I had expected when choosing them to act on my behalf in the sale of my property. The whole process took 19 weeks to complete which was unacceptable. What was more frustrating was the lack of communication from my solicitor’s team to keep me updated which was non-existent at many times. On many occasions I had to chase for an update, especially towards the end where I had to raise a formal complaint to one of the directors which I believe helped in pushing my sale through. The staff, when replying to emails a few times, would confuse me as the buyer (when I am the seller!) which was frustrating and lacked professionalism in proof reading communications sent. This was further highlighted when in the 14th week I was sent another clients TR1 form to complete, which had all the client’s details (property they were selling, amount for, names and address (of both buyer and seller)), which had nothing to do with the sale of my property. I had to raise this as an issue as I became worried about my own personal data they have may be shared with parties that should not have access to. Overall poor experience and would not use again.

What a nightmare!! I've been trying to sell my leasehold property since march and haven't got a clue when we will complete! Extremely frustrating as I keep calling my conveyancer Emma Bevan end up talking to her assistant who then promises she will respond to my emails and still not getting any response! Really not pleased with the way my sale is being dealt with. If BPL can't deliver a satisfactory service can they refund me my money and I'll go elsewhere and find a serious and professional solicitor who can deal with my sale. Really tiring and disappointed! Worst experience I've had in dealing with a conveyancer and I've dealt with a few in the past! Still waiting on Emma to respond to my emails by the way..

If i knew at the start what i know now about the totally unprofessional level of service provided by BPL I would have gone elsewhere. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Seriously doubt the legitimacy of some of the positive reviews on here...

Terrible experience. Feel close to tears at the lack of progress being made on a cash property purchase. Searches back 4 weeks ago yet my solicitor hasn’t raised enquiries, won’t tell me when they will do it so I am helplessly waiting and can’t proceed. We are supposed to be on the same side. I feel like I have to plead, beg to get anywhere.

Pay the extra £200/300 and get a decent Solicitor to represent you. It's not worth the hassle and you will pay for it further down the line in delays. They are clearly understaffed and overworked and work the numbers game. Very poor Client care, seem more interested in responding to reviews on here then actually responding to queries.

Horrendous service. No communication, messages not responded to. Vague reasons given for delays. I have never been able to speak to the solicitor dealing with my case! The people I do speak to have no sense of urgency whatsoever. Bitterly regret going with these guys.

An absolute disgrace,ignore emails,ask for paperwork they already have been given.lied to me about buyer still overlooking paperwork when the buyer had still not instructed his solicitors.this is 3 months on while I duly sent paperwork and chased them for 3 weeks.needless to say I swiftly changed solicitors.avoid at all costs...

Worst solicitors i have ever dealt with. Quick to reply / call when they required documents but ignored emails / calls when asked for an update. Requested my bank statements for the 3rd day on the day of the exchange, even though this should have been checked 2 months earlier. 5 months since the offer has been accepted and still no completion date. Avoid at all costs

Avoid BPL at all costs! We had a chain of 2 who were all ready to move and who's solicitors were fabulous, it took us 16 weeks to complete and we had 4 agreed exchanged dates that kept being pushed back, we eventually managed to escalate our case through complaining to another solicitor who manged to get what we needed to be done sorted in 3 days!! They lied to us about answering emails and replying to queries. They only get back to you if you chase and pester, this made moving house 10x move stressful than its even been before! We thought it was all sorted and then a week after moving they told us that them missed some payments off the bill and we owed a significant amount of money, They do not care at all about there customers!

We chose BPL because they came in quite cheaply and had positive reviews... Once we instructed them however and paid the retainer, their client care went out of the window and we literally were left hanging in limbo and guessing at what progress was being made... My advice would be to find someone local or a referral from a friend of mortgage broker. If you use BPL just be prepared to wait 20+ weeks for the sale to go through and to be pulling your hair out constantly because you can never get through to them... they don't care!

Oh dear.... dont know where to start... Constant ignore... can not get through at all.. spoke with my case conveyancer only once in 2 months.. and she has been ignorant. Trying to get a completion date asap, and always lying that had not received this, had not received that... when i am 110 % sure that they have it... we have to push them every day to make things going forward! communication is via email only!!!no regular updates, we are just waiting and waiting and waiting... come on!!!!!!! Whatever takes one day to complete they take 2 weeks! If you have to much workload, please do not accept new clients as the service goes down and you have unhappy customers. If i would have known, i would AVOID this company. Never ever thought this will be such a nightmare.. i would rather choose small independant firm, not advertised as big company. VERY DISSAPOINTED.

Do not use them. I will seek compensation for over £4,000 for a very bad service which has cost this money in the delay of 15 weeks in the sale of a property. They do not answer their phone it is always in ansaphone and they do not get back to you. I will take this up with the Legal Ombudsman and Solicitors' Regulation Authority tomorrow and the cost and stress of this is quite frankly non repayable. It is beyond absurd!!!

Instructed as conveyancers through a third party, their service was good but I was disappointed that my final bill was 25% more than originally quoted even though I asked several times, via email, if there would be extra charges. They refunded about 1/2 the price on complaining but it wasn't the full amount and it's a shame I had to complain..I guess most people wouldn't bother and so they get away with it.

Awful service! I usually make a note of when I try to contact someone and I have a record of 15 times and dates I have tried to contact this company. They did respond 5 times on other occasions though. They do not even bother responding a few days later to apologise for the time delay. Absolutely nothing. I could not recommend! No Customer service. I would recommend they take no clients until they can look after them. Come on BPL get your act together. I still have no idea when things will move forward and am contemplating changing my conveyancing company mid way through. A frustrated client :(

I thought the whole process was simple in terms of everything was handled online. If I had a question, I would send an email and one of the team would get back to me within 24 hours. The most important thing that people will look for is value for money and I would definitely say I got that.

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID O MY O MY, It is my third month and I cannot complete the buy. Not sure what they doing but they are very very very very slow. They were coming cheaper in the price but if you put the rent that you paying due to them being slow, the price will go 3 times higher. I have provided to them the mortgage offer on 15th of May and they have checked it in 10 June. After 2 months they have requested me the statement of the bank to check whether i had the 10% for the buy of the property. They have done now a mess with their question and non-sense queries and have send my mortgage approval again for re - approval. On the other side the seller is fuming. On the same building another person sold the property with the same solicitors that my seller has in less than 2 months. I cant wait this nightmare ends and will take my time to escalate my complaint. Hopefully they wont stop to deal with my case now that I'm writing the review I am really stressed because of them AVOID AVOID AVOID

The average timescale for a transaction is 8 - 12 weeks for a freehold and longer when leasehold. We also act for a mortgage lender when a client takes a mortgage over a property and we must report matters to them as required.
