“Very good feeling with the touch and the responsive board. The assistance in-board is a very nice feature. My daughter loves it. She is 5 years old. Honestly, this board makes me regret my previous purchase (square off pro).”

“Dear BryghtLabs, thank you so much for having delivered my ChessUp board before the Holidays. It's been a long time coming as delivery was first expected in July, but you did a fantastic job with the hardware. The board itself is amazing and works very well once you learn how to use it. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the ChessUp app. There's an unprofessional feel to it, and many features don't work such as "sign up by email" (I had to use Google authentication) and it seems that it's not possible to play games online on a ChessUp server. The "learning" section also needs a lot of work: for now only a few basic courses are offered. At first even "play against AI" would freeze on certain openings, such as with the AI playing White: 1. d4 c6 [freeze]. This last point seems to have been fixed lately. So while I'm enjoying the ChessUp board very much (using it standalone without the app for now), I strongly encourage you to invest in the human resources your team needs for app development.”

“This is one of the coolest and most well-executed concepts I've seen. I haven't played extensively yet (only against the AI so far), but I'm very impressed with my ChessUp board. It's responsive and works wonderfully!”

“The board quality is way above expectation! From the chess pieces to the board overall feel is of high end quality Had it for two weeks so far and still enjoying a lot with my son. On line play on lichess have been great so far and really looking forward to be able to play on chess.com with this board.”

“I have to say ChessUp is the best Kickstarter reward I have ever received. And I've backed many projects, some of which were epic fails. I have commissioned custom-made chess boards, and I have many sets: I adore craftsmanship and high-quality items. ChessUp doesn't disappoint! The packaging is retail quality, and something you'll want to keep. The physical hardware is quality, it's something to inspire you when you use it. If you've ever experienced the delight of unboxing an Apple product, I assure you that unboxing ChessUp will give you the same sense of delight. Out-of-the-box experience is great. Setup, connection, and calibration were a snap! This, again, is something you'd expect from an Apple product: it just works! Hopefully, others will improve their chess as I intend to do. I am sure you won't be disappointed with your purchase. It's a quality piece of kit.”

“I think I am going to enjoy this set and applications immensely. However, I am 84 years old and quite frustrated. The directions are so very incomplete. I have no idea what Fens is and how to download it along with other applications. I want complete directions. Very disappointing in this regard.”

“From the team that gave the world some of the best technologies in hand wearables, it would be criminal not to back their newest project that helps folks learn chess , one of the best mind games ever made. Apart from the quality of the equipment it was the vision of the team to marry AI with the game mechanics to make it a learning platform that really attracted me to the game. That and the fact that I could really now learn the nitty grottoes of the game and best my dad at it. Love the team, love the product they have created and the vision behind it.”

“Lousy directions. I tried to start a game. I looked at the startup file I was directed to. I couldn't figure it out. Why couldn't there have been a simple one-page sheet showing how to start a game against the board. I am sure once I figure it out, it will be simple, but I'm busy, and I don't really have the time to go looking all over the Internet for something that should have been included in the box, or at least a proper link to how to get this thing to work.”

You box should have a quick start guide which is essentially what is on this quick start page: https://playchessup.com/pages/start Touchsense technology requires some set up to work properly - it is just the nature of the beast. “The board and the pieces work amazingly. You barely touch a piece and the board will light up. The pieces are made with high quality. You can play without an app but if you want to take advantage of the full ai and assistance you'll need the app. The app is the only downfall of everything. Still needs a lot of work and chess.com integration, which they are working on. With more people buying the board, I have no doubt that they will fix the app and make it more user friendly.”

“I brought this at the company party and it was a blast! We tried all kinds of wacky combinations of AI and human levels. At some point, both sides were just executing moves for the AI level 1 and having fun at its blunders. On the technical side, a couple of times the board got in a strange state with several purple squares (it might have been our fault). It went away when we reset the pieces to the starting position.”
