I really like the board! The board is working really well for me and it's a great experience in itself. There are a few problems I have with the app. 1. It is not obvious how I can set up and play from a custom position on it 2. I do not like that I have to only play such wide ratings ranges on Lichess (+-500 elo). This makes it feel harder to get a game closer to my skill range 3. I would love chess.com compatibility because it is where I prefer to play. 4. I am getting a bug where it is not showing that my opponent has resigned 5. I get a bug where it says I am receiving assistance. This happens after I check my opponent's rating in the app during a game

The chessboard is excellent, I am having trouble creating an account and adding the firmware to the board.

Occasionally the board will not allow you to move and get stuck. Sometimes resetting the last piece moved helps, but I find myself sometimes having to shutdown and restart mid game. (I did calibrate my board each time before playing.) Also on online games via lichess the board doesn’t recognize resigning from the opponent. You have to resign yourself and hope your opponent actually resigned. Beyond these few minor issues, I really love the board, and can’t wait to teach my daughter how to play on it. I hope the lessons grow to include opening theory training. Right now all of the lessons are beginner level.

The board is great, minor issues with registering touches that aren't happening, but recalibrating (though an inconvenience because you have to clear the board and set back up) seems to fix those issues. I do wish that higher levels could be chosen without the app since the app is so buggy. Speaking of the app, it crashes when I try to load the game, it doesn't retrieve games played on the board that weren't initiated through the app, and if I do start a game in the app to play against AI, it crashes about half of the time. Not to mention there are a lot of features that were advertised that aren't part of the app/board yet. Add those features and fix the app and I will recommend this board to everyone I know, but as it currently stands I would recommend that people hold on to their money and hope that the issues are fixed and promised features added.

Board is awesome. Pieces are high quality. Once the Android app is complete and the features promised are available, also the board and pieces have lasted 5ish years, then ChessUp will have earned and delivered 5 stars. Keep it up Bryght Labs, we believe in you!

I have a lot of respect for your team having to work through all the supply chain issues and android issues while maintaining a positive attitude. Not an easy task. I was very happy with the board and pieces. The professional packaging set a high bar. The only issues are the lack of a complete Android solution and the lack gambit openings. I can't seem to force a King's Gambit on any setting. The board AI seems a little weak but the app compensates for it. Hope the built-in AI gets stronger over time. Still waiting for my checkers to ship.

While the product meets and exceeds my initial expectations, the software side of the board has been greatly hindering my ability to play at all. The firmware updates have never finished for my board and the ChessUp App seems to crash and bug out consistently. Hopefully they can fix it sooner than later before I forget that I own the board.

Your chessboard has such a pungent chemical smell that we could not keep it in the house. I would like to return it if possible. Thanks

It works better than expected. I'm excited for the app to update more to try out puzzles and the lessons. Only complaint which isn't that big of a deal is I like to leave my chess board out with the pieces already placed. Unfortunately with the board it doesn't calibrate when you turn it on like that have to be a clear board then place the pieced. Either way great board have been enjoying chess more than ever with it pieces and board feel solid and high quality all of my friends also ate really impressed by it and they don't play but the board is changing that. This is the future of chess

I love my ChessUp board! The app (Android) has some teething issues that I know the team will resolve in the coming months, but the quality of the board itself is outstanding and it functions so well. I look forward to many games of chess on my ChessUp board!

I absolutely love what Bryght Labs did with the chess board. I've been using it everyday since it arrived to my house. And I am rating it 5 stars because it's just an amazing way to spend my time practicing my chess in my own time by myself while I'm not using my computer or tablet to play online. Interface is so much fun to adjust my AI's level of difficulty whenever I want to play a nice chill game of chess after work, or when I just want to play more competively on other days by ramping up the AI difficulty. I Love the customizability on this board to adjust my assistance and the feature that the sqaures light up after picking up my pieces just makes this board 10x more fun than any other board I've ever owned or played on. Thank you Bryght Labs for making my chess experience much more fun to play on! This is alot of fun to use everyday. I'm rating it 5 stars because of that!

So far the board is really buggy. The first game I tried to play with my son, the board got very confused thinking we had moved pieces we didn't or not recognizing pieces we had moved. It seemed to get confused most often if we touched a piece (thinking of moving it) and then chose another piece instead. I hope a firmware update can fix things or else I'll be trying to get my money back. Edit: Support worked with me and things are working much better now. Hope it continues to work. Upped the rating to 4/5.

Haven’t tried the board yet but I did get it. I’ll wait until the app is fully functional to try it out until then.

I must say I'm incredibly pleased with the chess board at the moment. It's still in its infancy, but I'm excited at prospective features like chess lessons from professional players, analyzing my games, and greater app-to-board integration for Android. Even just as is, without all the bells and whistles that first enticed me, I've really enjoyed playing family and students that aren't as familiar with chess or it's principles. It's been a blast so far))

Absolutely love it! Still learning all the functions the board is programmed with; however, I saw the twinkle in my kids eyes when I showed them a taste of what can be done. We waited a long time to have it delivered but it was worth the wait.

Really nice quality board, Really nice quality pieces, The app is just uh... Not quite ready. Bluetooth only stays connected while the app is open, and not yet able to play online or reliably run a firmware update without something crashing. Despite the app being almost unusable for me at the moment though I still say this is worth the 4 stars, since the only existing issues are things that will theoretically/hopefully fixed in the future. I really don't want to have to try to keep forcing my phone to stay open on one app to keep a game going (when games are actually playable that is) so that's definitely a major thing I hope gets changed, because it almost feels like it's not actually using a Bluetooth service at the moment.

I got checkmated by my 4 year old, lol. This is a great teaching tool for new comers into such an intimidating game. The android app is in the works , but the hardware itself is plug and play. Definitely worth the investment for yourself or a loved one. Five stars till the app gets working as an app should.
