About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“The quality of the furniture is beautiful. The woods used are high end and crafted in a way to make the most of the beauty of the wood. The design is timeless so the furniture is relevant for generations. The delivery people are truly helpful and respectful. Very nice!”

“Bureau was delivered as promised, with good finish on the cherry, with no handling dings. Drawers were dovetailed, and on metal roller-slides so that they open easily. Flush-front drawers show good uniform gap evidencing good workmanship.”

“These are even more beautiful than we expected. Disappointed that the paint is already chipping off, however, but the kids are hard on the chairs. Would have given five stars, but for the fact that I had requested the leftover paint from Chilton's (paint that I custom ordered and purchased, myself) in anticipation of inevitable wear and tear, but never received it. So we have beautiful chairs that are solidly constructed, but will need to have them repainted before long.”

“I loved the piece. I wished the color had come out warmer, though. Maybe my fault because I didn't send a sample of what I was trying to match. It looks more blond in real life than the honey tones on the computer screen. Will probably try to get it refinished out here.”
