About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“I never write reviews, but I am for Chilton. Our bed frames are beautifully made - high quality and stunning in person. Staff helped me to make a few adjustments to the height of each to fit my mattresses, they kept me in the loop through the process, delivery was fantastic and timely. I really couldn't be happier and plan to order more furniture (dresser, etc.) in the future. Thank you so much to everyone at Chilton. Best!”

“I purchased a cherry hall table with a single drawer. It was delivered this week and is lovely. Working with the sales team was a bit of a process, however, eventually we were able to reach an agreement as to price. We are very happy with the table. It looks lovely in our hallway.”

“The night table is as advertised. It is sturdily constructed and beautifully finished, precisely as advertised. I would add the approach you have taken with your showroom is ideal for displaying your furniture. The minimal (almost zero) decorations, rugs, and such permits focused attention on the gorgeous furniture only. It allowed us to browse unencumbered by decorations which might otherwise steal one's attention. Next Summer, we'll be back for a desk and chairs. Finally, the gentlemen staffing the Freeport showroom the day we were there, Sunday, August 30, were great to meet (Zach & Co.) and converse with. Gregg”

“Last year we made a substantial purchase of a bedroom furniture and living room furniture. This time there were just a couple items we wanted to fill out our furnishings in our new home. Chilton’s treated us with the same attention and respect as you would expect if you were buying tens of thousands of dollars worth of furniture. The bookshelf and mirror we purchased is beautiful and rounds out our decor wonderfully.”

“This is perhaps our 5th purchase from chiltons. Each time we have been very satisfied with the furniture that we have bought. We have worked with them and their craftspeople to add small modifications and wood species changes to suit our asthetic. They have always been kind and professional and the quality of the products is great with a good price point.”

“Each step of the way, our experience with Chilton was great, beginning with our purchase at the Freeport Store, then coordinating with the delivery staff to get our furniture delivered on a small barge to Chebeague Island. Delivery team was experienced, assembled furniture as needed, and made it back to the pier to put their delivery truck back on the next barge, as scheduled.”

“We bought a shaker dresser and king platform bed for our new home on an island off the Maine coast. We knew that due to the location Chilton would only be able to deliver it to a delivery service that comes out here, which we completely understand, and they went out of their way to coordinate dropping them off around the delivery services scheduled island trips. They were well wrapped and arrived in perfect condition. We were so happy with the appearance and quality that we just took advantage of their most recent sale to buy two more bed frames and another dresser for guest rooms, and are equally happy with those. We appreciate the king and queen beds being strong enough to not need the usual 5th leg in the middle, it’s so much easier to clean underneath without it. All the pieces were done on schedule or earlier, and Chilton’s was happy to keep them in their warehouse until we were ready for them. One of our contractors saw the first bed and dresser and immediately recognized where they were from, he and his wife love their dining room table and chairs. We’re already talking about asking them to make a shallow cupboard for an awkward space in our entrance way, we know it would be lovely. We can’t say enough about how pleased we are with our purchases.”

“We bought a king size shaker bed with matching shaker nightstands. They are beautiful and exceeded our expectations. As beautiful as they are, the service we received was even better. The store manager in Freeport treated us like we were his only customer and went above and beyond in every interaction. I will buy from Chilton's again and would recommend them to anyone!”

“Bench was exceptional quality and gorgeous. Only issue was we were quoted 4-6 weeks "since it was only a bench" per sales person in Portland and it took 18-19 weeks, which seemed outrageous.”
