About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“We called the Freeport store to purchased a 6 peg hook rack and they didn't have it in stock. The salesman checked the inventory and identified one in Portland. He advised to call the store as they only had one in stock. The Portland had one and they arranged for it to be delivered to the Freeport store. We got a call from the Freeport store prior to the expected date. Every staff person that we talked with was friendly, professional and most helpful.”

“I spent several hours last summer waiting in the Portland airport, sitting in a very comfortable Chilton spindle rocker. When I was in Portland this year, I went to the Chilton showroom in Old Port to admire "my" chair again. The very helpful manager there referred me to their larger showroom in Freeport where I had a choice of several finishes. Now I am the very satisfied owner of a beautiful cherry spindle rocker, hand-built with classic dowel assembly and finishes. Thank you”

“Chilton Furniture gets a jumbo thumbs up from me!! From their customer service to the day of delivery, and pricing to quality, I highly recommend them! Most of all, I truly love my new pieces! A bed, armoire, and dining hutch all in shaker cherrywood are beautifully designed and crafted. A rare find and locally produced. Chefs kiss!”

“this purchase contained the 6th and 7th peice we have bought from Chilton Furniture. We have done this over several years. We love each piece and also the experience we have gotten each time. The staff is great from sales to delivery. This time we got our first bed from them and it is elegant and beautiful. I look forward to our next purchase.”

“The design and woodworking is lovely. My only reservation is with the design of the drawers- attached slides seem heavy and overbuilt, causing a sense of top heaviness that I am not used to. Most of our chest of drawers have regular wood slide drawers and there is no concern for falling forward - you recommend attaching the dresser to the wall for safety.”

“From showroom to delivery Chilton was a top performer. Customer service at the showroom was very helpful in choosing our desk and chair. Time line for delivery was accurate. The delivery process was easy to negotiate. Finally the two gentlelmen who delivered our desk and chair were extremely professional and protected our purchase. Highly recommend Chilton for their product quality and customer service. Definitely quality furniture that will last a lifetime or more.”

“The Chilton stools we bought have just arrived and the craftsmanship is beautiful. Customer service was very responsive as the had to hold the furniture for several months for us. Delivery folks were great. Furniture came as planned and we were given a heads up regarding time a week in advance. It was a pleasure buying furniture from Chilton!”

“I’m pleased with the walnut dining table I purchased was disappointed it was damaged during shipment. But more importantly I am disappointed with Chilton’s manager’s handling of the situation. Namely blaming me in part for buying what he described as an already damaged table. Unbelievable.”
