About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“We well much enjoy the furniture from Chilton. All three pieces that we ordered are in excellent quality. We highly recommend purchasing of the media console that we order and the end tables. The delivery was onetime and the delivery people were courtesy and made sure the furniture was placed where we wanted in the den.”

“I’m very disappointed with the delivery timing. The date of purchase was September 24. I was quoted 10-12 weeks for delivery but verbally told at the time of purchase it would likely take much less time. The nightstand was supposed to be a Christmas present which was 13 weeks from purchase date. In late November, I touched base and was told that the builder was going to move order to the front of the line. Clearly they did not. I picked up the nightstand this week 18 weeks after I placed my order and more than 2 months after the order was moved to the “front of the line”. After posting my initial review, I communicated with the owner via email and phone. I learned the circumstances leading to the delayed delivery. The contract builder had recently changed ownership and the new owner experienced start up issues. Also, due to the delays, in January I was given a rebate on my purchase. Although I was disappointed in the delayed delivery, Chilton and its owners are committed to do right by their customers.”

Valued Customer, We are so sorry to hear about your negative experience with your nightstand, and we are particularly sorry to hear that you did not have it in time for Christmas. Our whole team feels terrible about it. As I mentioned in my email to you, your nightstand is being built by a relatively new builder for Chilton who has been having a little trouble getting getting up to speed. Frankly, we should have anticipated that there could be some start-up issues and we should have been more conservative in our lead time estimate. We are very sorry for that. We were pleased to share with you a summary of all of the initiatives we have taken over the past two years to reduce our lead times (we are making progress, but clearly there is more work to be done), and we were also pleased to offer something to you to help make up for your experience. “Quite some time ago we purchased a lift top coffee table with which we are extremely pleased. After roughly half a year one of the springs started making a minor noise and we contacted Chilton. The service we received was beyond fondest dreams. Easily the best service we have ever received from anyone. They even offered to replace the table although all that was needed was a minor spring change. Given the incredible quality of both their products and their service, we look forward to future purchases from Chilton”

“Our furniture arrived in immaculate condition at 10:30 in the morning on the 10th of January 2020. By noon it had been installed and by suppertime it was already in use. It looks absolutely great which both pleases us no end and confirms our good taste and superior design sense! It’s been quite an eventful experience from our first visit to the Chilton show rooms back in early September to our subsequent communications about international customs require-ments, brokers, packing, shipping arrangements and so on. Throughout we’ve enjoyed the support, encouragement, and sound advice of Helene McCrea of Mathers Logistics here in Dartmouth. Judy Sher and the folks at Sure Express did a superior job of crating and transporting our order. And Hoyt Movers, their Halifax/Dartmouth moving company did a very efficient job of unloading/unpacking, setting up all of our pieces. It took them about an hour in all, including clean-up. To Jill and Wanda and all the folks at the Chilton Furniture Co., thank you deeply and sincerely. Would that we could also thank the talented people who crafted our furniture pieces. Clearly we can’t but please do pass on to them our expressions of gratitude. Thank you again, Grant and Lorna Wanzel, 6158 Lawrence St., Halifax, NS, B3L 1J6, Canada. January 15, 2020.”

“Thanks to Chilton's excellent website (and extremely helpful showroom personnel), I picked out the Bethel Bookcase with drawer on line. Salespeople took additional photos for me and spent some extra time with my numerous questions and the final result is that I have a beautifully crafted and functional new piece of furniture delivered by a careful and very helpful delivery crew. More than I could have wished for in the actual piece of furniture and the people. Many thanks!”

“We had this 6-door piece built in hard maple with the limed oak finish. We could not be happier with how it turned out. We asked for some custom changes, and Herb could not have been more helpful and informative. This was not our first piece from Chilton, and it will certainly not be our last”
