To be perfectly honest I found the customer contact really off putting. The lady in the shop who served us really was unfriendly although knowledgeable about the product we bought. Id asked also if there was going to be January sale discounts ( we went in on Black Friday weekend) I would have bought more as it was a modular piece ( the Alice I believe ) she told us there definitely wouldn't be any further discounts however only four weeks later the price went down further! The delivery team who delivered the item were beyond rude and very unhelpful our house is being renovated and they moaned about everything possible even telling me I was lucky that they could have refused to deliver it!!!1 bit much for a 5k sofa!!!!! its a shame as the products in the shop are fantastic quality and my sofa came within the allotted time.

What you see is not what you get ! We ordered a sofa and during the order, we asked if it includes the scattered cushions. The sales person told us "what you see is what you get" implying they are included as those cushions were on display as part of the sofa in the store. When the sofa arrived, those cushions didn't come. We queried the store and were told those cushions aren't included and have to pay extra. We are really annoyed and disappointed as during the price negotiation, we asked the question at least twice. My advice is to be careful when ordering from this company. Insist on putting it on the writing even if it's a trivial item.

We had identified the sofas we wanted through research on the internet. It was important for the furniture to have removable covers and Darlings were one of the few retailers to stock such furniture so we headed off to the Fulham store, where they were in the showroom to try them out for size, comfort, support etc.. The in store staff pointed us in the right direction and answered our questions. The sofas were comfortable and in the sale so we decided to order on the day. We were offered refreshments during the ordering process. We were told the lead time was six to eight weeks which was acceptable. After eight weeks I called to find how the order was going. The member of staff I spoke said she would look into it and get back to me. The following day I got an email saying the sofas were at the delivery partner. I arranged the delivery and all went well. The delivery staff were excellent in ensuring the sofas got into the house without damaging anything and even removing a gate to get entry (they put it back as well)!) I waited a week or so for the accidental damage insurance certificate to arrive but it didn't. So I phoned to ask where it was. I was told someone would look into and get back to me. A few days later I called again again and was told the certificate was showing as pending on the systems. A week later having still not got the certificate I called back and was told that they would look into it and would call me back. Later that day I got a scanned copy of the certificate - which included all the correct details including my name and address. In summary on the positive side the product is excellent, the showroom staff were knowledgeable and and the delivery staff were excellent. The problem was the fact that I had to chase Darlings for updates on delivery and the insurance certificates. It makes me feel that the staff were interested in the sale as once the sale was agreed the aftercare service didn't seem to matter. A few little changes and it would have been an excellent review.

"When l received my Harris tweed sofa costing over \u00a32000, l was shocked to see how soft the seat cushions were , lmade my complaint known, but was told this was normal for feathers l have had previous experience with this type of cushion but never like this, I was told as a gesture of good will they would send me an alternative filling which would be a little firmer, l agreed, was not told when they would be ready, until there was a knock on the door and without prior notice they arrived, foretunatly l was in,but l was surprised to find the filling exactly the same. So we are left with a sofa which is not comfortable.and l am not very happy."now after 6 months feathers coming out in handfuls our say it’s too late to do anything

We spent a long time looking at sofas and were adviced by the salesman that we could pick a sofa we liked and a material from a different manufacturer - which we duly did. We then found out 6 weeks later that the sofa manufacturer would not make the sofa with someone elses material. Surely this was something we should have been told before ordering? We then had to go through a lengthy process of receiving samples to pick a new material. When we did Darlings had the cheek of trying to charge us the full retail price for the new material choice which was hundreds of pounds more expensive than our original material choice (which, incidentally, we still preferred). After a few choice words they agreed to honour the original price and our new order was placed. The hassle and delay could have been avoided by knowing their suppliers better. We should never have been persuaded to order separate material and sofa manufacturers. The sofa was finally delivered (good delivery company) but the sofa was much, much firmer than the sample we sat on in the showroom. I was informed that it would soften after a month. Im half way into that and it's as rock hard as it was when it arrived, so Im skeptical about this. It very much feels like we have a different level of firmness in the sofa that was delivered than the one we tried out. One of the reasons we chose the sofa was because it was comfortable. The one we have delivered is not. We were never informed that it might come out harder or that it would take a month to soften (which I dont think is actually goign to happen anyway). All in all a fairly dissapointing experience. In part they did try to rectify the situation but I really think they could have done more and trying to charge me £hundreds for their error was the last straw!

Delivery was attempted by 2 men to lift 2 very heavy electric reclining sofas. They were barely able to lift the sofas off their Lorry, let alone anywhere else. They complained that they had the same problem the previous day with very heavy items to be lifted by just two guys. I just managed help them to get the sofas off their Lorry. However I now have to pay another company to carry the sofas into my flat!! No offer of any solution from Darlings!!

The sofa is beautiful and just what I ordered but the service around it was far from the level you'd expect when you pay £4k+ for something. The finance side was cumbersome with no follow up (they were waiting for my response but as I hadn't received the paper work I didn't know). The worst part was dealing with the delivery company. As I couldn't make the first date they bullied me (phoning, texting and emailing me to confirm and if I wanted to change I had to phone them but I only reached their answering machine) into accepting the second date which was far from convenient for me and I had to cancel an important client meeting to accommodate them. The guys delivering and assembling the sofa were quite sweet but far from the professional delivery people you'd expect from a company like Darlings. Finally, when I wrote to Darlings to raise my concern about their delivery company I received nothing back apart from this form a week later. How can they expect me to rate them higher than Poor..?
