“I would highly recommend an Eagle-Eye Tour. Our small trip to SW England "Birds and Gardens" ran anyway, despite the 3 of us and one guide. This is a tribute to Cam and Kerstin. Pre trip question availability was always there. Our young English Tour Guide was consistent, enthusiastic, able to deal- with humor and kindness- to guiding 3 women day after day- long days with wonderfully good weather- seeing 8 magnificent gardens and 140 bird species. Well done all of you!”
“Good company with good to great professional guides and good accommodations and food. I believe you get value for money and see a large variety of birds. The only issue I have would be with advertising. Some trips can be exhausting with physical challenges and a quick pace. This is fine but the best information on these potential challenges should be more openly disclosed. I have noticed other companies do disclose this information making trip planning a bit easier.”
“This was the first time I had travelled with Eagle-Eye tours and with a birding group, after travelling to Africa twice on luxury safaris and being a bit dissapointed fellow travellers only wanted to see big game and not the smaller, but equally important, creatures which I appreciate. On this Eagle-Eye tour I felt I finally found 'my people' - folks who wanted to see birds, lizards, frogs, butterflies, snakes, flowers, bugs, bats and lichens - really knowledgeable naturalists. And boy we saw it all. It was a glorious trip. Ernesto our guide was like a nature savant...he knew everything about everything aspect of nature. Once, crouched over with his eyes glued to a spotting scope trying to locate some wee bird in the dense forest he said 'a toucanet just flew overhead' - that's how good of a birder he is. He drew birds in to us often with his own calls - and he knew where to find any bird. He took two of us out on a night time frogging adventure which I hope I never forget (red eyed frogs, brilliant forest frog, hatching dragonflies, cat eyed snake, and bugs galore). If any trip you're considering has Ernesto as a guide - sign up immediately. Our driver Jorge was also great, a lovely man, and good birder himself, and together they made a great team. The accommodations were okay, not luxury (except for our last hotel...and honestly...are you really going for the hotel rooms, or for all the great nature encounters you'll have) and the meals were simple (but as a vegetarian there was always something for me). The rooms were clean and most importantly the hotels were located within great parks/areas for birding - and that's what's most important - I'd give up luxury for location any day. The tour overall was well organized and designed to take you trekking in multiple, safe habitats. The only improvement would be to include one stop for souvenir/artisan shopping - but I seemed to be the only one among my fellow travellers who cared about that, and that's okay. I am definitely considering travelling with Eagle-Eye again, and especially with Ernesto. This was a 5-star trip for me, and that was largely due to Ernesto.”
“Guide was superb. Locales was great. Only change would be to include dinners and have less financial restrictions on menu items and expenses. I understand it’s hard to do but similar type trips have made this part more seamless.”
“The trip was more arduous than I thought it would be but then I’m 73 and a lot were younger in my group. All 7 participants were a pleasure to be with. Our leader, Ernesto, I have upmost admiration for.....kind, so intelligent, he KNOWS the birds. The bus driver was excellent also, Jorge. The places we stayed I will always remember. I felt well taken care of. I highly rate this tour. My bird list has expanded exponentially!”
“We went on a 10-day birding tour of Belize and Guatemala with Eagle-Eye Tours and had a wonderful time! The guides were great and the birds were amazing. The company kept us informed and prepared at every step before the trip, and everything went smoothly during the trip. We recommend them without reservations!”
“Our guide tour is an amazing birder. He can spot things my binoculars can’t. You will discover the meaning of life even if you don’t get a Great Gray. Sometimes it is more important to discover yourself than to spot an owl. Experience the borealis forest and Rudolf.”
“Belize and Tikal with Eagle Eye was a wonderful trip and I would certainly recommend the company again. Our guide Yousif was great and made each outing full of adventure, new sightings, lots of humour, and everything ran pretty smoothly. His photos and synopsis of our trip is something I will enjoy reading many times. Certainly my expectations of seeing many new species was surpassed and getting lots of walking in was great. I was looking forward to the 2nd location having a pool, but due to a booking mix up that did not happen for us. That was a bit of a disappointment, but short lived as the Ruins were fantastic to see.”
“We had a wonderful, relaxed tour that allowed us to see all the birds (and there were a lot!) while also enjoying the scenery of the places we visited.”
“We thoroughly enjoyed our birding trip with Skye Haas. He is an amazing professional ornithologist and very personable young man. He made every effort to assure all participants saw each species. He provided boundless information about the species we saw, their natural history, current population status and current distribution. Skye made our trip very informative and enjoyable. His enthusiasm for birding was infectious and we all were willing to put in long hours to see all the birds we possibly could find. This allowed us to document over 215 species. Kudos to Skye Haas!”
“This was a wonderful tour with ernesto and Jared. With so many people, it was great to have two very knowledgeable guides. Both were very patient - making sure everyone saw the targeted birds. I loved exploring the ruins, the boat tour and hiking. Thank you.”
“What a great tour we had. Thank you so much. All went according to plan, and the birding was spectacular. At times it was hard to keep one's head tilted up observing the birds. The accommodations were wonderful, some more rustic than others. Loved the garden and parklike setting of the Bougainvillea, and the grounds of La Quinta De Sarapiqui, and of the Arenal Observatory Lodge. What wonderful, exciting bird and wildlife places. The Paraiso Quetzal Lodge was an adventure in itself, as it was quite cool there and with 4 blankets on the bed it was difficult to move around. The room was just not built for cool air that seeped up through the boards and blew under the door. But it was all part of the adventure in the mountains. And we saw the Resplendent Quetzal the one morning. Ernesto just knew everything about birds, and the flora and fauna, and at times he was a bit humorous. He was superb. And Steve was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about everything and very friendly. He was super too. Hard to believe that they know the birds by size, shape, colour and song so well. Would recommend this tour.”
“I was along as a non-birding participant, and I still enjoyed the incredible scenery and wild places. Guyana's lack of infrastructure makes for rustic accommodations, which I loved. Just don't expect every-day wifi. Bring and use insect repellent--I got munched by chiggers, which was my own darn fault and detracted from my experience. Paul is a fabulously kind and birdy guide who can track down tiny gray birds all day long, and our local guide Gary is an all-around great guy too, with an encyclopedic knowledge of Guyanese birds.”
“I have recently returned from the trip to Panama - Canal Zone and Darien and would highly recommend this tour. I was most impressed with the organizational skills and energy of both guides Ernesto and Kyle. What was most impressive was their extensive knowledge not only of birds but of all things in the natural environment. Every walk was educational including the night walks which were magical. Must also acknowledge our patient, polite and great driver Felix! Thank you Eagle-Tours”
“I have been on several tours with Eagle Eye and have no hesitation in recommending them; guides are knowledgeable and professional. I look forward to talking to the friendly and helpful office staff when booking my next trip.”
“This birding trip to Namibia etc by Birding Ecotours was pretty well as described pre tour. The guide was excellent and dealt as well as possible with all problems. The vehicle was not very good, tire problems, problems with the luggage trailer, air conditioner barely working in extreme heat. There was confusion about tips; which are included ? Every lodge has a guide or 2 added. Are their tips included? The accommodation was very good to fair, and food was good. Birding was very good with a decent final list. Overall happy with experience.”
“I have been recommending this company for a number of years now because of their attention to detail, quick assistance with trip queries, quality of bird guides and their support of Bird Studies Canada.”
“Great trip with a very good guide. Other travelers were super people. One recommendation: a better van with better air conditioning because it was really a hot time of the year. Lodging was great especially the Ngeti Lodge.”
