“This was my first birding trip. I felt that I saw and learned a great deal more than if had I gone on my own. We were 3 generations in one family. The guide had an intuitive ability to respond at different levels and to find accommodations for our various dietary needs. All this, while introducing us the amazing world of birds! I would do it again.”
“Needless to say the staff, accommodations and food were excellent on this Adventure Canada tour of Scottish islands. The weather was fantastic for Scotland, though I'm not sure that Adventure Canada had much to do with that. I really appreciated the attention and planning of the Captain and management. When winds portended a rough landing, they arranged alternative visits. They also went out of their way to arrange a trip to Scara Brae. Without exception, the staff were knowledgeable in their fields (geology, botany, ornithology, marine life and photography) and were articulate in their presentations. Very highly recommended.”
“The Far East Russia Ring-of-Fire tour was all and more than I was hoping for. The scenery was spectacular, the birding was great and the guests and crew were a pleasure to be meet. For anyone up for an adventure to a part of the world few get to see, this is the trip for you. The expedition leader and his staff are passionate about Far-East Russia and all the wonders it has to offer. A great experience.”
“This tour is not for everybody because the environment is very challenging to begin with. Our drivers had to negotiate water on top of the ice in a number of places, & leads that opened up in the ice as we traveled. Fortunately the wind, snow, & ice on our tour was the best it's been in years, so nobody suffered. Also, camping out on the watery ice & slush presented slippery conditions for falling, but nobody got hurt & the Inuit guides helped us around very considerately & repaired our tent stakes. Taking a latrine with us everywhere we traveled on the ice was hard to do, but they managed to accomplish it. Fortunately nobody got sick in the cold temperatures. We had plenty of healthy food to eat & drink. I was impressed that the tour ar for me to eat lactose free meals on all 4 First Air flights. Wildlife spotting was flawless, & the guides managed to even chase down some polar bears. Adam was very helpful & knowledgeable, & he made a fine effort to find us lemmings when we requested to see one. The tour was the right length of days, too.”
“I would have liked to have given 4.5 stars (can't imagine giving 5 stars to anything). The combination of an otherworldly-like landscape, rich wildlife, attentive local guides (with cultural insights) and with-it, lead guide Cam made for an experience of a lifetime. A perfect balance of a sense of adventure without undo hardship. A trip to the arctic will never be inexpensive, but my trip was well worth every penny spent (and I paid for three!). Thank you Eagle-Eye Tours, Cam and the local guides.”
“The tour in May 2019 to western Spain was excellent. Our two Spanish guides were very pleasant and knowledgeable about birding locations and did find us many species including a couple of difficult ones. They also were able to impart a lot of facts about Spanish history, culture, geography and geology. Having two vans was a bonus. I did appreciate the opportunity to tour some Roman ruins and cities such as Ronda and Rocio as a break from birding. The food in Spain was excellent, except the breakfast at a few hotels was substandard as noted in another review. I liked the choice of having picnic lunches out in the field, provided by the guides and they did a great job. We did have a couple of lunches in a village, which was entertaining and gave us some insight into the local culture. The accommodation was varied and very good, especially the Artiem in Madrid. The scenery we encountered was just spectacular, both in the mountains and in the south by the Mediterranean. I would recommend that if possible, a closer view of Gibralter would be appreciated by future participants. I was hoping that one of the guides would make e-bird lists and share them, but that only happened for one location. I would highly recommend this tour for birders.”
“Just returned from Alberta Birds & Dinosaurs trip. Truly fabulous - 4 days of great birding thanks to guide Jody Allair. Jody's local knowledge and expertise in birding was amazing. Also found the dinosaur part of the trip fascinating. Enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour at the Royal Tyrrell Museum which offered up incredible views. Would highly recommend this trip to birders and naturalists interested in discovering the beauty of southern Alberta.”
“Narwhal whales, polar bears (including a mother and cub), beluga whales, birds, local Inuit culture, perfect weather, expansive ice stretching seemingly forever, riding in a komatik dragged by a ski-doo, icebergs, short hikes on Bylot Island as the vegetation comes to life, knowledgeable experienced tour and local Inuit guides and friendly and professional crew, Interesting fellow adventurers, Comfortable tents, delicious hearty food . . . This tour has it all!!!”
“A fine trip. Excellent guides, a well-planned route, and congenial company. The knowledge of the guides allowed desired birds to be tracked down with a high degree of confidence. Fully recommended.”
“The crew with Bluewater were very experienced, safety first for all guests, and made sure that we got to experience all encounters that came our way with no set schedule so we could whip up a side channel to see something unexpected if the opportunity came our way. Meals were fabulous (we had not one but two chefs on board-one in training). They both entertained us each day with their musical talents! Very well run expedition with Jonas at our helm. Thanks to staff at Eagle-Eye for their help in planning my trip.”
“I would highly recommend an Eagle-Eye Tour. Our small trip to SW England "Birds and Gardens" ran anyway, despite the 3 of us and one guide. This is a tribute to Cam and Kerstin. Pre trip question availability was always there. Our young English Tour Guide was consistent, enthusiastic, able to deal- with humor and kindness- to guiding 3 women day after day- long days with wonderfully good weather- seeing 8 magnificent gardens and 140 bird species. Well done all of you!”
“Good company with good to great professional guides and good accommodations and food. I believe you get value for money and see a large variety of birds. The only issue I have would be with advertising. Some trips can be exhausting with physical challenges and a quick pace. This is fine but the best information on these potential challenges should be more openly disclosed. I have noticed other companies do disclose this information making trip planning a bit easier.”
“This was the first time I had travelled with Eagle-Eye tours and with a birding group, after travelling to Africa twice on luxury safaris and being a bit dissapointed fellow travellers only wanted to see big game and not the smaller, but equally important, creatures which I appreciate. On this Eagle-Eye tour I felt I finally found 'my people' - folks who wanted to see birds, lizards, frogs, butterflies, snakes, flowers, bugs, bats and lichens - really knowledgeable naturalists. And boy we saw it all. It was a glorious trip. Ernesto our guide was like a nature savant...he knew everything about everything aspect of nature. Once, crouched over with his eyes glued to a spotting scope trying to locate some wee bird in the dense forest he said 'a toucanet just flew overhead' - that's how good of a birder he is. He drew birds in to us often with his own calls - and he knew where to find any bird. He took two of us out on a night time frogging adventure which I hope I never forget (red eyed frogs, brilliant forest frog, hatching dragonflies, cat eyed snake, and bugs galore). If any trip you're considering has Ernesto as a guide - sign up immediately. Our driver Jorge was also great, a lovely man, and good birder himself, and together they made a great team. The accommodations were okay, not luxury (except for our last hotel...and honestly...are you really going for the hotel rooms, or for all the great nature encounters you'll have) and the meals were simple (but as a vegetarian there was always something for me). The rooms were clean and most importantly the hotels were located within great parks/areas for birding - and that's what's most important - I'd give up luxury for location any day. The tour overall was well organized and designed to take you trekking in multiple, safe habitats. The only improvement would be to include one stop for souvenir/artisan shopping - but I seemed to be the only one among my fellow travellers who cared about that, and that's okay. I am definitely considering travelling with Eagle-Eye again, and especially with Ernesto. This was a 5-star trip for me, and that was largely due to Ernesto.”
“Guide was superb. Locales was great. Only change would be to include dinners and have less financial restrictions on menu items and expenses. I understand it’s hard to do but similar type trips have made this part more seamless.”
“The trip was more arduous than I thought it would be but then I’m 73 and a lot were younger in my group. All 7 participants were a pleasure to be with. Our leader, Ernesto, I have upmost admiration for.....kind, so intelligent, he KNOWS the birds. The bus driver was excellent also, Jorge. The places we stayed I will always remember. I felt well taken care of. I highly rate this tour. My bird list has expanded exponentially!”
“We went on a 10-day birding tour of Belize and Guatemala with Eagle-Eye Tours and had a wonderful time! The guides were great and the birds were amazing. The company kept us informed and prepared at every step before the trip, and everything went smoothly during the trip. We recommend them without reservations!”
“Our guide tour is an amazing birder. He can spot things my binoculars can’t. You will discover the meaning of life even if you don’t get a Great Gray. Sometimes it is more important to discover yourself than to spot an owl. Experience the borealis forest and Rudolf.”
“Belize and Tikal with Eagle Eye was a wonderful trip and I would certainly recommend the company again. Our guide Yousif was great and made each outing full of adventure, new sightings, lots of humour, and everything ran pretty smoothly. His photos and synopsis of our trip is something I will enjoy reading many times. Certainly my expectations of seeing many new species was surpassed and getting lots of walking in was great. I was looking forward to the 2nd location having a pool, but due to a booking mix up that did not happen for us. That was a bit of a disappointment, but short lived as the Ruins were fantastic to see.”
“We had a wonderful, relaxed tour that allowed us to see all the birds (and there were a lot!) while also enjoying the scenery of the places we visited.”
