Booked a holiday via Expedia. The hotel then decided to close for maintenance 3 nights before our booking finished so we had to book another hotel nearby. Hotel stated that they would give us a refund for the cancelled days but as we booked via expedia we had to go through them. Expedia have now stated that are unable to refund us - effectively stealing our money.

Appalling company. Lied to us, told us to cancel holiday in order to get a refund and rebook, which we did based on their advice. Then they refused to give us a refund which meant we lost £1400. Disgraceful. Just a bunch of crooks pretending to help whilst being passed from pillar to post. Awaiting their response still.

I had to cancel my flight, was told I would be given a refund but after months of trying I never received a refund. Expedia is a scam and you only have to find the Expedia victims page on Facebook to read about thousands more people who have had similar experiences to me. Also, why can’t I leave a review in their one website ? And all my comments on their social media are blocked? Never use Expedia or any of its affiliated companies - always book direct!

I have used Expedia several times in the past and never had any problems. Yesterday, was a whole other matter! I'm absolutely appalled and shocked at the lies and deceit shown by customer services. I booked a hotel for Rhodes in 2 months time. Roughly 7 hours after the booking realised I'd made a mistake in booking the hotel. I contacted Expedia via online chat to request a cancellation and full refund. I understood that the booking was non refundable, but thought that as I had just made the booking the hotel would show goodwill and grant a refund. Which I'm glad to say they did without any argument, no thanks to Expedia. The initial response I got from Expedia was they had tried several times with hotel to request cancellation, saying that the property manager refused to grant a refund and they couldn't do anything else for me! Liars!! I contacted the hotel directly and got a response fairly quickly saying that yes, Expedia had contacted them about cancellation, but that the hotel needed this confirmed by email and NOT just over phone. There would be no issues with cancelling the booking and they would of course not charge me. Expedia lied to me and had expected me to just go away and suffer the loss of £900! Little did they know that I don't give up that easily! SHAME ON YOU EXPEDIA!!😡 I will not be booking with them again and suggest you think twice about using them. They may have been okay in the past, but now are a bunch of crooks! 😡😡😡

Just stay away from Expedia, or any other company that doesn't allow you to register a complaint. Expedia has made it impossible to register a complaint, so these review sites are your only option.

My husband and I booked flights on 3.8.23 for our Anniversary/2nd Honeymoon. The particular international flight we chose was listed as a Delta/Air France collaboration, which we specifically looked for. When our itinerary came to my email, it only said Delta with no mention of Air France. We were going to try to upgrade it for the celebration, on the Air France international flight. After three separate calls and an utterly futile 32+ minute chat to customer service (both on 3.10.23) left us with little hope we'll actually fly on what we booked on Expedia.com (Air France/Delta) nor does an upgrade seem possible (I asked the chat agent for a price three times & got no answer). I have used Expedia for over 20 years, but after how much stress this experience has CAUSED rather than prevented, this well may be the end for me. We are exasperated and heartbroken!

Very bad service, never using Expedia again. Cant make phone call only chat available. Agents not helpful at all. Booked the hotel for £213 but made bookings for wrong dates by mistake. Expedia is charging £245 pounds for changing dates. Lost all the money. Horrible service, horrible experience, never ever using expedia service will also recommend everyone not to use expedia ever... This is a looting company, once they receive money they are not helpful at all...

I booked a package holiday with these including, flights, transfers and hotel. This was at the beginning of 2020. Well then COVID happened. Transfers and hotel were free cancellation so no problems there got a refund. As for the flights, we knew a refund would take longer we said we would wait for a refund. Then they offered us a flight voucher and there was lots of news about travel companies struggling so we took a flight voucher. I called to check what this would be valid for, they said it would be valid for any flight on Expedia. Great We'll wait for COVID to calm down then book again. 2 years later we start to look at flights again and when I ring they say the credit can only be used with the exact airline we used last time. Right, so when we look at the flights for this at the same time of year the prices are now 3x times the price. I have tried over the last year to try and get Expedia to raise this with the airline and get me a refund. But because they are sat with my money they don't want to do anything. I have raised complaints and got nothing back, I have raised section 75s with my credit card, raised it with the aviation authority and no one wants to know. They have conned me out of my money and left me with a voucher that if I use I have to spend 3x the cost on the same flights we booked in 2020. When the voucher was explained to me it was explained it was for any flight on Expedia. Now they have gone back on that. Their telephone numbers charge you a fortune to call, you are on wait forever, live chat it useless and goes nowhere. I have lost all my flight money and had to give up because the stress they have caused has caused issues with my mental health. Avoid, avoid, avoid. It's a complete con with terrible service who will tell you anything to get you off the phone. Ewan McGregor might want to read customers experiences before voicing over for these *****.

Cancelled flights on a package holiday then refused to offer a full refund as required by law. Agents either deliberately ignored package rules or were completely ignorant of them.

Disgraceful. Booked a Bali trip and got to the payment page, it took 6.5k from our account prior to confirming the booking that never even went through because the hotel was booked and so were the airlines, spent hours trying to get a hold of Expedia, phone numbers were disconnected, chats were disabled, and when you did get through it asked for a booking reference that didn't exist BECAUSE THE BOOKING DIDNT GO THROUGH. After hours of panic thinking we had been scammed the money was returned. Considering ourselves lucky that it came back in light of the reviews on here. NEVER BOOK THROUGH THEM. Truely incredible we got our money back from these scammers.

Avoid Expedia or it will cost you time and money. They trick you via their website into making a second reservation in order to pocket the $50 cancellation fee. It is just wrong. As well, the customer service team via call or online read from a script of standard responses, repeat themselves at nauseam, really do not care about the customer and just wait for you to end the dialogue. Again...Avoid Expedia!!!!!

I booked a package with Expedia to Canary Islands, we chosen a hotel in Lanzarote but to our surprise the flights were to Tenerife airport even though I explicitly choose Direct Flight in the filters selection and yes , I know, i should have check every single detail in the package but that's why when I choose DIRECT FLIGHT, I expected a direct flight to Lanzarote island........ Tenerife and Lanzarote are almost 300 km apart and the ferry takes around 10 hours, not to mention that the flight to Tenerife lands at 20:40 in the evening and there is no ferry at that time. Expedia suggested two options: 1. Cancel the hotel and book one on Tenerife and 2. Speak with the airline to change/cancel the flights. Needless to say the airline won't refund and you cannot change the flights as they do not even fly to Lanzarote! So here I am being basically force to change my entire trip plans and search now for a hotel on Tenerife Island otherwise I would loose the flight rickets (360 GBP). Apparently for Expedia, even though they are sorry, the filters are working just fine, giving me options, even though they are putting those options in a nice attractive package.

This company is horrible and a scam. I booked 3 rooms on the 24th of September 2022. I canceled 1 room the same day, ever since then I've been trying to get refunded as they promised to do so and nothing. Do not use these guys, i have to involve my lawyers on expedia to apply my refund but they will be paying much more

September 20, 2022 I booked a flight on Expedia. They immediately took my money for a flight which was supposedly sold out and told me I didn’t have a seat that it was done in real time is the reason the flight hadn’t been taken down. But they sure did take my money and still have it Oct 3, 2022! I can’t rebook until I have my money back in my account! Even if I eventually getting my money back on my debit card the hassle with Expedia isn’t worth it! Book directly with the airline!

I purchased a vacation package along with travel insurance, just in case my trip got canceled. So when my trip di actually get canceled, Expedia, wouldn't refund my money without a fight. Even though I purchased travel protection, they still wont do the right thing. What a bunch of scumbags!!!!

I recently booked a flight for me and my fiance to travel from Cebu, Philippines to Manila, round-trip. Expedia changed double flight protection for single flight. Tried using online chat to get customer service number, chat said cannot access phone numbers, could not even give me phone number to airline they booked tickets thru. Total cost online said $173.96, I pressed "book", when I receive confirmation email, total is now $280.69. Then another email is sent with a Receipt showing 3 round trip tickets, 2 travelers. Chat then referred me to airline, to which they have no contact details for me. Best advice, DON'T USE EXPEDIA, might spend a few dollars more with other sites, but won't get overcharged and will only pay what screen says total is. Am still searching numbers and answers, been over 3 hours trying to get answers.

On 5/19 my friend and I booked a complete vacation package for 4 adults/1 child through Expedia with flights and resort to the Bahamas leaving 6/12. While searching for airport transfers, we discovered Expedia had booked our flights to Nassau and our resort in Freeport. It was not until this time that we realized they were two separate islands! We called Expedia on 6/9 and spent HOURS being transferred from one agent to another. Although each agent was very apologetic and tried to help, they were unable to find us a different or connecting flight to Freeport. The next option was to change hotels, but they were unable to find a comparable all inclusive resort that allowed children in Nassau for our dates. After two days of trying to fix, our only option was to cancel the complete trip days before we were to leave. A refund for resort was given but only vouchers for airlines in which 1 airline charges a $99 fee for each ticket to change. We felt Expedia needed to make this right for their huge error and asked to expedite our problem to headquarters. We were first we were told we would hear back in 72 hours. After contacting them 96 hours later, we were told it would be another 5-7 days. We finally heard back from headquarters on 6/16. The lack of responsibility and customer service from headquarters was appalling. We were told there was nothing more they were WILLING to do, additional flight charges were out of their hands, it was not their fault but OURS for not noticing the airport error. Expedia is NOT a company that stands behind their services and they would rather place the blame on the customer than take responsibility for their errors. It was even pointed out to them that their website was still incorrectly booking the wrong airport with resort package. As of 6/16, the website is NOW corrected and giving correct flights. A formal complaint has been made with BBB, but wanted to warn and make others aware.
