“As I catch the train from Howden, Hull trains is so much better than in the old days. One would be standing waiting for the train and find it had been cancelled. And when you are in the middle of nowhere it proved difficult especially as no taxis around!
Nowdays, they are on time, the staff are courteous and it has been a clean and efficient service so far this year.”
“I have travelled with Hull Trains many times and have always been very pleased with the service in general. One small criticism, however.....the on-board announcements that insist that we will arrive in Hull on time when it is patently obvious that the train will be late in.....and then no apologies or explanations are given.”
“Trains are comfortable; staff are friendly and efficient. My only concern is that pricing policy often leaves trains overfull to Grantham, and half empty from there to Hull.”
“On every occasion we have used Hull Trains the service has been on time. Staff friendly and efficient and an easy way to travel between Hull and London.”
“The Quiet Coach rules should emphasise not just the use of phones or whether some equipment is silent or non silent (I would have thought that silent mode would be appropriate anywhere on a train); the rules should also require that conversations be restricted and kept at a low volume.”
“would be better if other travellers actually observed or even read the reserved tickets placed on seats.
Nearly every time I get on at Howden some bright spark from Hull is sat in my seat, stress even before my journey has begun.”
“I enjoy travelling with Hull Trains as they offer inexpensive fares, relatively frequent trains and helpful and friendly staff. Furthermore, their trains have free WiFi and plenty of legroom.”
“The trains are much cleaner and it has made my journey a pleasant one. I particularly appreciated the free wifi which has allowed me to catch up with all my emails while travelling, Overall, I am happy with the services which are often of excellent quality by the friendly and helpful staff.”
“I've traveled Hull Trains several time.
I do find Hull Trains much comfier than the VEC.
Occasionally the smell of the toilet transfers into the coach.
Staff are always polite and helpful.”
“I've had problems with on line purchases and had to ring direct. I would prefer to book and pay online.
The on board service is excellent but in recent times the 'snack box' in first class was short of acceptable. The sandwiches, coffee, tea etc is good. We would prefer a hot meal in first class but this seems to be phased out.
Overall the standards are very good and if you book 3 months in advance great value for money.”
“Friendly staff, nice clean trains, great service - although prices seem to have gone up the last yr or so and its more difficult to find cheaper tickets
Otherwise good though, better than grubby virgin trains . !”
“From hull to kings cross the service is brilliant. However from kings cross to hull the service is not good, there are no seats available to book and it is extremely crowded , me and my six year old daughter had to stand up for most of the journey. Also, the service from hull to Manchester picadelly is good.”
“I always use Hull Trains to book my visits to London. I have generally found them competitive on pricing and I get my nectar points. The trains are comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly.”
“My journeys have been excellent with hull trains. Clean trains & seats
Good hot tea
We do wish trains were not so expensive, how come at times there r no more than 8 passengers in 1 car, yet if i try to book a few days earlier it comes up at £50.”
“Staff are very friendly and trains are always clean inside. Only down side is that the weekend menu has been the same for a long time, there are only so many times you can stomach the same egg and cheese sandwiches. Lets have a change please.”
