“I needed a maths tutor for my son so checked out the First Tutor's website . After looking at the various options I chose a tutor and the contact was made quite quickly which was great.All very well organised.”

“Communication with tutor was difficult as many characters in the message are obscured, consequently the tutor thought we were enquiring about English Literature rather than Language. System worked well once payment had been made for contact details.”

“I found the First Tutors website very easy to understand and to use. A tutor was quickly found, though I will not be having my first lesson until March 2017. One feature which I found annoying about First Tutors is that, you only have a limited amount of time to seek a tutor before you are told that you will be removed from their register due to inactivity.”

“Have used First Tutors in the past for my son and now using for my daughter. We were very happy with the tutors for my son. This time we had problems with the working of the site, logging in etc which was irritating. Also when the tutor sends messages of availability the numerals are covered with *** presumably so that telephone numbers are not given out so I couldn't actually see the availability and had to ask for times etc to be written out in words. Some tutors did not respond at all which was irritating too.”

“Easy to locate potential tutors (I have now successfully engaged two tutors - one for beginners Ancient Greek and one for A-level Philosophy). Slightly clunky software interface, difficult to use on my iPad (functionality went a bit weird) so had to revert to desk computer.”

“Good website however i think the charge to see a tutors details is far too high. A set price that can be paid to see all the contact details of all the tutors would be more ethical”

“I personally contacted 5 tutors - one responded quickly and I have engaged him, although his fee is actually 20% more than what was advertised (and he's quite expensive); one turned out to say she wasn't available after all, and another contacted me after 72 hours. So overall, it was ok ish. I sent a help request - no reply from your administrator. I wouldn't say I got value for money as yet.”
