Tutor not as advertised, refused refund of finder's fee. Found physics tutor via this website clearly advertised as offering GCSE physics. Paid £24.99 finders fee. After several lessons tutor told us he did not cover GCSE curriculum, only Nat 5 level which is a different syllabus and exam. I therefore contacted First Tutors for a refund as this is false advertising and in breech of consumer protection rights. They refused to give me my money back. Dishonest and unscrupulous treatment, and this tutor is STILL being advertised as offering GCSE on their website. I was told to leave a review on their website to get my money back so I did, which they then turned against me because I had said he was a great tutor but NOT as advertised, as I did not want to be rude about the person.

I've had a disappointing experience with First Tutors recently. Despite being a long-time tutor with positive referrals, my account was abruptly suspended without any prior communication. Apryl from customer service failed to address the issue appropriately, and I discovered that the suspension was a result of a system error during a discussion about availability. This incident is especially disheartening as I work with challenged children and 11+ and GCSE students, yet I've never faced such unwarranted punitive action elsewhere. First Tutors' lack of communication and swift decision to permanently block me is unacceptable. Considering other tutoring platforms that offer better pay for tutors and more reasonable charges for parents, it's clear that there are superior alternatives available. Save yourself the frustration and avoid First Tutors.

Have spent hours trying to pay these people the process is far to difficult if only someone would call back. The payment was made it came out of our account but they say it has not and want more details which makes me think if this a scam.

Not an ideal way of discussing with a tutor. You could at least set it up like a whatsapp chat. I have no problems paying a fee as it is security for the tutor being vetted. However it would be nice to chat with them before employing them.

Hi , I contacted the Richard Vaughan to give a few tutoring, one I purchased the fee he come very tudo to me and said he never received the payment I seen the proved to him , he is a big scammer , and come with no respect for people I been have tutoring all been so responsible with agreement mutual, but Richard Vaughan was a big scammer took the fee and come around with a lot of message to called stupid on my face and scammer me

I have been looking for SEND tutor on this website and paid for the service to release contact information however the last 3 tutors told me they were experienced in SEND learning with kids ASD & ADHD but it’s clear as soon as they start they don’t! I have had to raise this over and over to first tutors and still got an on. Going complaint going! I wouldn’t Recommend them for this reason!

First tutors, is solely web-based. If there are issues with their site there's no method to get help, forward complaints, etc. No customer service number or live chat for each country as such. You're pretty much on your own.

To get in touch with us, please select the CONTACT button at the bottom of the site pages. Unfortunately we haven't heard from you so we haven't been able to help so far. Vimala is very bad with children. She criticised my daughter from the first moment she started playing and she knocked her confidence in less than 20 minutes with my daughter ending up in tears. She corrected her every step of the way in a discouragibg way and asked questions about the previous tutor and why she was not taught this and that. I had informed her that my daughter was booked for an exam and that was all she cared about without checking with me if this was my priority. I would have expected her to talk me in private what was required without traumatising my child. Her attitude was unrpofessional and completely insensitive. Avoid at all costs!

Absolutely awful website, much better webites out there where you can meet the tutor online before agreeing to use them as a tutor. They demand a finders fee when you have not made a decision on your tutor and block communication with them if you do not pay. Total waste of time. Stay clear of these guys.

I met with Veronica for a couple of sessions as starter lessons in 2019, which I offered to pay for but she kindly insisted were free. She was very enthusiastic and I thought I had found a good tutor to teach me and really improve my Spanish. However, after these initial two sessions, I would arrive at her house for a lesson at the given time only to find she was out. This happened twice. I phoned her at home to clarify the situation and she arranged to meet me again that day, for a lesson . When I arrived, she was out. She didn’t answer any further texts or phone calls. I would have appreciated a simple conversation that she didn’t want to teach me. I have been reluctant to leave a review as she seemed nice, but I feel it was inappropriate behaviour.

I see you started tuition with this tutor in 2019 so we are a little surprised you have left feedback now on this platform which is to review the running of First Tutor's website, customer service etc. and not the service the tutor has provided. I see that you didn't contact us via email to let us know there was a problem. We do have a system where you can leave feedback for the tutor on their profile and obtain another tutor free of charge. So bad agency,asked me first to pay fee website to release tutors info and then the tutors wasted my son's time and no reply at all, asked them to refund my money back ,they kept wasted my time asked me to check with other tutors,be careful

Hello, Yes I made contact and explained Dimitrios has Crohns Disease and was in hospital. Now he is out and having treatment, he needs help to revise before his AS Level maths in a month or so. Sam says "sorry I full up". Of course I am very unhappy as Sam should not have accepted the introduction, then filled up without contacting me. This is a young person's future. Either refund the nonexistent introduction or find another tutor, with a moral standard. Iexpected a reputable tutor

At no point in the experience is it clear that you actually need to pay to get the tutors details. This sprung on you at the very last moment It's very briefly mentioned on the home page, but you need to scroll down the page I'm on a large monitor and still managed to miss it The tutor also wasn't aware of this

Paid £12 in order to access the tutor Had an intro chat with him .. Correspondence was great Face to face - talked the whole way through at us and my daughter barely managed to say a word! Played himself through the session until I suggested does he want to listen to how my daughter plays. This was in the last minute.. Very bizarre
