“Have had exactly the same letter from B&B, been with them for 10+ years. I have never made a claim and always pay for my insurance annually, but now get told they cannot quote for my renewal without an explanation. I’m not impressed and IMO this is poor business practice. * out of 5 = NIL”
“Very surprised to receive a letter today saying they were unable to provide a quote. No reason given. We’ve never once missed a payment or tried to claim. We don’t have financial issues and we were expecting things to continue without even thinking of shopping around. I’ve very quickly got another policy in place with a well known insurer. Bit disappointed with Bradford and Bingley to be honest. Happy with our new insurer all the same and that now aligns with our car insurance so happy enough with the change.”
“Contents insurance for 2 years with B&B, then a letter saying they can't offer me a renewal quote and are canceling my policy. No reason given. Rang them to check, confirmed can't offer a renewal quote, but operator had no idea why(?)
On the day the policy expired, they sent an email saying "We would like to thank you for your custom for the past year and hope you will consider us again in the future." To add insult to injury, they then had the temerity to send another email asking me to complete a survey about my "recent experience with Bradford & Bingley Home Insurance"!
Utterly appalling.”
“2024 Home and Contents cover with B&B went from £441.65 in 2023 to £1140.54 in the renewal (no claims historically). A near £700 price increase has to be the worst I have seen.
Found an alternative policy with better benefits and cover with Admiral for less than my 2023 cover price with B&B.
Never going back. Avoid!”

Same scenario: insurance auto renewed, no quote sent in advance and only informed one it had happened - also doubled the monthly rate.
When I called though to cancel however, I can`t fault the service.
Spoke to an operator within 2min, took my details and cancelled my policy free of change, initiated refund of the first month paid already at 100%.
1* for autorenewing without notice and hiking the price, 5* for customer service and dealing with the problem”

“My 85 year old mother took out contents insurance in error (she unwittingly already had a policy). She cancelled it as soon as she realised (within days) and the fee is more than 50% of the premium. Extortionate!”

Customer service advisors that seem to be there to talk you into a new policy or talk you out of cancelling regardless of what you are trying to ask. Openly told me that 'the government is important but not every company can do what they say' to defend an illegal cooling off period charge they made. Absolute swindlers.”
“If you ever want to cancel your insurance with Bradford and Bingley do it through your bank and block their number from your phone. They will embark on a campaign of harassment using many different phone numbers but that’s ok. Just keep blocking them. Ignore their letters. It’s their own fault for making it nigh on impossible to cancel insurance online, through their website or email and even through their phone number. They deserve the chargeback. And they won’t be getting a penny from me. My only regret is not using a premium number for my contact number because I’d probably have made a tidy profit by now.”
“I made a phone call in January to see if I could make a claim on a front door that had locked shut (fire hazard in itself!). The claim was refused, however on renewal they have increased my premium by an extra £250 BECAUSE OF THE PHONE CALL I MADE!!”
“They automatically renewed our policy, without consent, they had put the price up £200 over the course of 2 years, annoyed with myself for it cancelling sooner! no claims made either. I then get a letter 3 months later asking to phone them and was told we owed them 3 months worth of payments, as they couldn’t take payment from us! I asked why they were calling about this 3 months in and not contacting us straight away and was told accounts looking into what’s owed every 3 months! Asked to be put through to customer complain and the call handler hung up on me. What a joke of a company! Won’t be using again!”
“I was about to take my home insurance policy as it had the cheapest quote. But given a thought why it is so cheap, so just searched for different sites for their reviews. Thankfully after carefully reading all reviews on different sites, I just saved myself from this company.
I feel sorry for people who suffered during their claim process and understand the feeling of being cheated but very thankful to them that all of your reviews saved me from the same suffering.”
