“I passed my driving test (reluctantly) at age 32, I'm not fussed on driving and was dreading getting involved with car insurance, especially because lets be honest - nobody wants to pay a months wage every year for car insurance!!
Ironically, I work for a car insurance company I do see an awful lot of the misunderstandings and "unfairnesses" that can occur between customers and insurance providers, and I am such a busy person that I was really dreading facing the hassle myself.
I took out my car insurance with the cheapest company to quote me on CompareTheMarket which turned out to be Diamond and with baited breath I hoped for the best. After a few weeks I called to make some changes to the policy and to add Motor Legal Protection which was no faff at all and I don't even recall any admin charges. I've had no bother all year, I even upgraded my car from a Corsa to an RCZ and everything was easy and reasonable. I was actually looking forward to my renewal invitation as I hoped it would be as effortless an experience as the previous 12 months had been.... well, I was horrified when my renewal price was literally DOUBLE what I was expecting, double what I paid last year, even though I had earned 1 year NCD. I called them up and spoke to Josh in renewals who helped me change some details on the policy and get my premium back down to a reasonable level. Really pleased. and looking forward to not having to worry about my car insurance again until next year. Thanks Josh.”
“Good quote for first time buyer. Helpful re policy on the phone. I hope quote this year i a bit cheaper with no claims discount but am sure it will be.”
“I had been with my previous insurer for 17 years with only a couple of claims when other people hit my car and had no problems making the claim, a couple of times when the insurance renewal came through I checked with other providers and as it was less than £50 difference I didn't see the point in changing. However last year my daughter passed her driving test and they wanted to charge me £1300 to cover the remaining 9 mths of my policy meaning that the annual policy would have been close to £2k, I shopped around and initially got a quote for £1700 when I rang to see if my previous insurer would match they weren't interested, I shopped around further and a quote off Diamond for just over £800 with no obvious differences in the small print. My previous insurer has now lost my household and pet insurance also as I didn't get quotes when I took the policy out on the basis I was happy with the car insurance, I let the policies come to an end and then shopped around and saved yet more money.”
