Was always impressed but recently have found always on hold and wrong information sent out to me. Am now seriously considering going elsewhere.

On renewal forgot to mention an accident my wife had earlier in the year in another car (hit a deer so technically driver at fault!!??) Got a semi illiterate snotty letter from Lancaster demanding to know the details and why I had not told them but also "fining" me £30 (they call it an admin fee) for the mistake. I challenged them on this but they initially refused to waive the £30 so I complained and cancelled the insurance. Complaint was upheld and I did not pay the £30 and have now moved to Hagerty International where you get treated with respect although it is more expensive. Lancaster are cheap (in every sense) but will hit you with "admin" fees that are excessive.

Their communication and explaining to you the policy when you start is the worst I've ever known. I was charged £80 for ending contract early. When everything was done correctly I asked them why I was not told this when the policy started I was then told I was when I deafly wasn't. That I was bombarded with threatening letters over the £80. This is the trouble with big companies they can do what they want. Make the rules to suit them. This closing free should've been explained in the very beginning clearly before policy was taken on and asked if I understood. As all this was done over Internet I can't see how you told me and Adam are do you tell me there was a tendency. And what costs £80 to cancel a document what a load of rip-off. And when there is money involved the service becomes very poor then and threatening as it was to me and my wife with debt letters in debt people calling. Personally I still wonder paid £80 today had a principle but my wife was absolutely fed up of people and threatening letters. And no I do not live in Newport so can't even get that right on on your page I live in Chepstow.

Insured my car with Lancaster 2022-2023. Found cheaper cover elsewhere for 2023-2024. Just had an email from them so out of curiosity filled in form. Quote was over £800. I'd already used Compare The Market and had a quote of £320. Needless to say I won't be using Lancaster.

I went through gocompare last year and Lancaster said my car was classed as a classic, I paid £141 for the year recommended to all my friends, now due for renewal £545, nothing has changed, however I wanted to know what renewal was and saw the horrendous feedback from others

Extremely disappointed and amazed that I have sold my classic car within 6 months of new insurance and expected after many years with Lancaster that I would get a refund, but not a penny. Regret now that I had recommended them to the new buyer who did actually insure the car with them! Be aware folks.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. No online facilities and almost impossible to get through to, then if you do, they can never help, you’re told someone will call you back, and surprise surprise no one does.

Be warned - if you insure your car annually with Lancaster Insurance and then have to cancel 50 days into your policy because you change your car and they won't insure it, you won't be due a refund. They just tell you it's tough luck and refer you endlessly to their terms and conditions. I won't be insuring any of my vehicles with Lancaster Insurance again.

I took out an insurance policy with Lancaster Insurance company for £108. When I cancelled after 26 days, due to selling my car, I got zero refund. Ripped off! I will never use them again.

Terrible company to deal with. Ended up being charged the full year amount for 86 days cover after cancelling the policy due to sale of the vehicle. They only 'refunded' 6 months of the premium for 86 days cover and then the cancellation charge convieniently was exactly the amount of that 'refund'. Will never use for any of my vehicles again.

Took out the insurance paid for the year, cheap but I have an old car so suited me. Only to be told could not use ncb then told no refund and they were doing me a favour by not charging a cancellation fee. It was them that wanted to charge more money and again me out of pocket, beware and check your no claims bonus is valid with them??

Someone suggested I insure my car as a classic and Lancaster was the first firm that came up. I did the on-line quote form and the result was nearly double what I am paying via a normal insurance. Within seconds someone was on the phone to me, hassling for the business and saying that they might be able to get the quote down to match my company. I asked why, if that was so, the quote didn't give that figure. No real response. A minute after I'd put the phone down, another rep from the firm called, saying much the same thing and again with no reason why the quote was so high. I imagine if I'd had the first year at the negotiated rate, the second would be much higher. All sounded very dodgy. Wouldn't dream of using them.
