They might be the cheapest you can find but there is a reason for this. We had car insurance with them and a driver hit us and from this point on it went down hill. We are still dealing with the claim 15 months on they don't reply to any letters they never call you back. I have now reported them to ombudsman. look on trust pilot if you want reviews from people with experience of this company.

I have been with this company with my House insurance for several years. This morning I received a renewal for this year. They wanted 275 pounds. I decided to go onto a comparison site to see if I could get a better deal. I was offered by same company Privilege. With a better insurance policy coverage for only 190 pounds. I was under the impression that there was a new law brought in a few years ago to stop this type of abuse of existing customers. As an existing customer, I was supposed to be provided with the lowest price. However, this is not the case be aware they would rip you off as an existing customer at every opportunity. Both quotes were done on the same day in the morning.

It's been 6 weeks since I submitted a claim with Privilege and they have done absolutely nothing about it. Every week when I call them, it's the same old story. We are busy, call back next week and we'll have an answer for you. But come th next week, I just get the same excuses again. I submitted all the photos, information and quote immediately after I made the claim. There is absolutely no reason why it should take so long to look at it. They are very quick to take your money, but when it comes to paying out a claim they take their sweet time. This is the first time that I had my car insured with Privilege and also the first claim I've ever made, but I will definitely never get car insurance from them again. I have complained several times now and every time I was promised that someone would call me back, but I never hear from them.

One of the worst insurance companies I know. It all depends on the situation in which the person is. They treated me like a fraud and tried to convince me that the accident was my fault. Without my consent, they agreed to half of the guilt I found out about after I changed my insurer after 3 years. I do not recommend it with all my heart

Spoke to a lady from complaints department called Sandy. She was trying to be firm with me and was very rude. When we applied for insurance they unusually asked for so many documents such as V5, drivers license, dvla codes. For some reason they decided to play with us and gave a deadline after delivering what they requested they still cancelled. Complete waste of time better of somewhere else BELIEVE ME.

Failed to pay out a claim, to provide a copy of the policy or schedule (despite repeated requests), to return phone calls or to respond to emails - on-going over several years. Utterly useless. I strongly recommend that you avoid them. By far the worst insurance (of any kind) experience I've had.

Everything from day 1 went wrong. I had to wait 3 weeks and make repeated phone calls to find out when my car was going to be repaired for a non fault accident. I finally got a date and then they cocked up on the vehicle. I drive an auto they hadn’t authorised it and I was given a manual. This then had to be changed after 3 more lengthy phone calls. Then they didn’t authorise the hire car for enough days and they had to keep calling me to call them. The customer service is appalling and I ended up spending £25 on phone calls to get things sorted out and resolved. Use them at your risk. Avoid avoid avoid is my advice

I've been with Privilege for 10 years and 3 cars, I haven't claimed a penny from them. I changed my car recently to a newer one (same class, nothing luxury or unusual), and amended my policy to cover this car instead of the previous one. The increase of premium was acceptable but the premium wasn't so attractive any more. I paid it having no time to shop on the marked. But 3 months later I received a renewal 45% higher!!! I called them but - obviously - they didn't have any other explanation than "you bought a newer, more expensive car". Well, it happened 3 times in the past with me always replacing previous car with newer, more expensive one and my premium never blew up. And I always thought newer cars were SAFER, but maybe it is just me. Obviously it was "good buy" to the Privilege and my new insurance - with very highly rated insurer - is 2.2 TIMES cheaper. This is definitely not a relation to a suppplier of services you expect after 10 years of no-claims history. Sorry, Privilege, I'm massively disappointed...

I have just been told I am at fault for an accident. That could not be more clearly the other drivers fault . Driving down main road let a car out of side turning but car behind shots out as well leaving me unable to stop Driver asks me not to go though insurance and says he will cover cost of repairs I refuse his offer and say no I am going though my insurance the car is repaired and returned to me this parted all good 10 months latter I get a phone call saying I am at fault for the accident . The fine fellow that pulled out in front of me has managed to decide he now did not pull out in front of me but I let him out then my foot slipped of the brake one I went into the side of him and he found a witness (friend) that saw it . This is not a joke this just happened and they believe him and say I am at fault AVOID AT ALL COSTS ALL THIS IS GOING TO STICK WIYH ME AND COST ME MONEY FOR YEARS PURE INCOMPETENCE

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS !!!!! £700 increase on my premium compared to last year, no claims, no accidents or motoring offences. Looking at comparison websites I am able to get a quote for £1000 (!!!!) less than what privilege has quoted me. I have been with this insurance company for a couple years and their customer service is abysmal. Tried using their messaging service on their website and have spent a total of 6 hours only to be told they can take £200 (still £800 more that comparison websites) off the renewal quote and weren't able to give me an explanation as to why my premium has increased so much. All round terrible customer service, an absolute waste of time and money.

EVEN WAIT 1 HOUR TO CANCEL MY POLICY WITH TMEM. Heartless company. Full of lies!! And I am carless thanks to theft and I thought I didn’t need to worry. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THEM... I CAN SAY 100 % RUN VERY FAR AWAY FROM THEM, ONLY WILL EAT YOUR MONEY AND WILL GIVE YOU STRESS. I am now stressed that these people are useless! Left me stranded and not communicated when they said they would. I can not stress enough….DO NOT USE THEM!!

Had to wait 5 days for an "emergency" plumber call out and 2 months later am still waiting to hear about my claim......the company didn't even know I had an on going claim even though I gave my full details, claim no and policy number!! Communication about the appointment for the plumber call out was none existent and it took over an hour for them to answer the phone and this was at 4am!! Pathetic is a complement with this level of "service"

Trustpilot reviews Trustpilot Thanks for your review! You reviewed Privilege Add photo Truth Speaker 11 reviews GB Rated 1 out of 5 stars Absolutely the worst company I've ever… Absolutely the worst company I've ever dealt with in any field, let alone insurance. 16 months after an accident where I was hid by a drunk driver, who literally ran fir the hills abandoning her car and blocking the road completely for 3 hours. The police said there was no way it was my fault, and ii had an independent witness who stated she was staggering, smelled of spirits and accepted full liability, and that markings on the road showed that she had lost control, veered up and bank before rebounding across the road and Headon hitting the rear quarter of my car so hard her airbag deployed. There is no way I could have hit the front of here car with the side of mine, but privilege recorded it as my fault, took over a year to contact the police and 16 months down the line are now trying to claim that they can't get hold of the witness and the police have no record of the accident, despite the witness assuring me that he has spoken with them, and my having provided photographs, video, witness contact details, and the incident report together with the police officers names and numbers. Never, ever use this company. I will regret it for the rest of my life. The only way forward for me is the ombudsman, the media, and the BBC who I am already speaking to.

I would have given them a zero ratling if it was an option. No previous claims made but when I had to call out a locksmith to get into my house at a cost of 300 pounds they insisted on a crime number is before they would '' consider '' my claim. They said they would get back to me within 48hrs, two weeks later after emailing and phoning them several times I was informed that my claim was being dismissed . Avoid at all costs. Also be aware that Direct line, who claim they are not on comparison sites actually are, same company. Be warned.

I had car insurance with them for 9 years everything was OK. This year they changed everything I didn't have any extras apart of glass damage 😡. They renewed my insurance and price for it was shocking 😡. On monthly payments they wanted me to pay £77 for car insurance where other companies price it for £50/55 , also giving a lot of extras like breakdown cover etc. I am very disappointed as loyal customer I was treated like that. Definitely not recommended Privilege to others.
