Have had an account for years, received a letter in August advising me of the interest, received a letter today saying as no activity on my account they were closing it. Spent 3 X 25 minutes on the phone holding and 10 minutes trying to register for online banking. Told me that they would close my complaint and send feedback? How does that help me?

Credit files have not been updated correctly and to my knowledge customers have not been informed about the internal issues / delays in updating. I appreciate the bank has lots to do at this critical time. However, I remain up to date on payments and made a lump sum to reduce the balance 3 months ago, but it is still not showing with the credit service equifax. The first customer services person I spoke to at the bank, blamed equifax and sent me to raise issues with them, the second (on the same day) confirmed that there WAS an issue at the bank. The second officer was courteous and 'may' be able to sort the issue, but there are no certainties and no time frames could be provided. This is clearly an issue that has got away from the bank and it does not have the personnel / facilities to deal with it. Not good.

Took out a car insurance policy online as it said I would receive 6000 reward points for doing it online myself. This was 6 months ago now and every 2 weeks I’ve been calling customer support with the promise of getting these points STILL HAVENT GOT THEM.!!!!!!!! What a scam I should have stayed with Direct Line. SHAME ON YOU SAINSBURY

My late wife had a couple of accounts with them. Absolute nightmare dealing with them. They lost a death certificate, at first refused to accepted a grant of probate because her account was in her maiden name - even though her using her maiden name was made clear. Delay after delay in closing the account. Shambolic. (Also takes ages for them to answer the phone.)

I've used Sainsbury's Bank in the past for credit cards and home insurance and found them to be quite good (though the real test of insurance is when you have to make a claim, and I didn't). So I recently decided to apply for a £25,000 loan with them. I intentionally used their eligibility check first, as I didn't want a hard search on my credit file unnecessarily if they were going to reject me (though my credit score is excellent so I wasn't too concerned). I did the eligibility checker and input my income and the loan amount and it said I had a very good chance of being accepted so I submitted my full application online. It was immediately rejected. I complained and the underwriters explained that Sainsbury's Bank would never have approved a £25k loan on my income. So the lesson learned is don't trust Sainsbury's eligibility checkers, had it worked properly I would not have submitted the application. I now have an unnecessary hard search on my credit file. I immediately applied elsewhere and was instantly accepted, with the £25k in my bank account shortly after. Sainsbury's have recently sold off their mortgage books, have tightened their credit card approvals (my sister who also has an excellent score received a woeful credit card offer from Sainsbury's - she would have got a lot better elsewhere) and it's becoming clear that something's amiss with Sainsbury's own credit worthiness. I will be steering clear of them going forward.

I recently ordered some wine via Sainsburys online store. This was under an offer which because of a hiccup which was no fault of either party, thye couldnt deliver before the end of the offer. Sainsburys offered to redeliver the following day - but then charged the full price for this delivery, rather than the offer price of the original contract. The wine they delivered then did not match the invoice they charged on being several bottles short and having mixed boxes of wines so it was difficult to count the order accurately. I have contacted them several times by email and telephone but have failed to get a reply from either the online delivery complaints department or the store complaints department. The order is being returned!

Applied online for a loan when the agreement arrived the name was wrong. Rang the bank to say name was wrong and was told I would have to re-apply . Application was accepted and agreement arrived was signed and returned with a note to say when the funds were required to be in my account. On the said date nothing was transferred to my account. Orange again and was told the transfer could happen anytime in the day. It didn't happen. I rang the next day to be told that further checks would be made on the day I had said I needed the money in my account which seems rediculous and that it would take two days to do this. This is Sainsbury's procedure. They have had a fortnight to make these checks why wait until the requested payment date to initiate them?? Fortunately I am able to make the payment the funding is for but not everyone is in a position to do this. Very disappointed with Sainsbury's Bank!!!!!!

Never ever deal with this bank... But If you like stress, abnormally huge stressful situations, talking with customer service representatives wxpect shouting and unprofessionalisam, being acused of stealing money, even clearly bank card is yours ,your main bank account and credit score screwed, they own contract for them is not in existence, they putting hands and doing what they want, taking money from your main account how much and how they like. If you like all that b******t you are person for this business...Another kind of people run away from this services. Shame there us not 0 stars. Hermes or newly called Evri in banking system.

REASON: you simply cannot get through to a person anymore - NOT EVEN TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT! I had to close it online - using a form. And, the last straw - it will take 10 days to process! TEN DAYS to close an account? You can open a MONZO account in 2 minutes - which I did - and I love MONZO, and I have converted to the MONZO credit card (called FLEX CARD). Good-bye Sainsbury, and guess what, I will now shop elsewhere too - LIDL, ASDA, anywhere except Sainsbury.

They gave my husband a credit card. He used it to make a few small purchases, we went to use the card for some shopping online, it was declined. I called the supermarket to fond out why it had been declined, and was told it was the banks fault. Sainsburys called to say it was the supermarkets fault and it would be rectified in a few days. My husband called again, to be told they are quite busy and to give it another couple of days. He called again after a couple of days, only to be told it had been passed on to the fraud department, wait another 10 days and he will have the results in writing, plus do not call again. Now he has tried to get into his account online only to find the account has been closed!!! I know they have the right to refuse credit, but why give someone the card with a credit limit and when the person tries to use it, they cancel it?

Rude, rude, rude ! Tried paying my credit card online. What a joke, the details quoted on the statement were not recognised by my bank i.e. the sort code and account. I called them, some rude rep said well thats your bank's problem. I then asked how can the details you have quoted on the statement not be recognised. Tutted and sighed "I'll put you through to automated payment then ". I AM a customer who do you think you are talking to???

Worst service ever. Payment gone out on C Card not recognised. Telephone lines dreadful, every other word cutting out so after seven calls and one hour+ on phone, can’t clear security as can’t hear each other properly - so now they’ve locked me and themselves out of my account. Will have to wait for a security code to come in the post! Given post these days that’s about 10 days. Asked repeatedly to escalate it to a complaint and the ‘agent’ just blocked the request every time. There’s not a separate number or email for complaints or to report suspected fraud - just the general number with really obstructive call handlers. As soon as this is sorted there’s a pair of scissors going to the card. Steer well clear.

I regret applying for the loan and was approved. So the repayment, they directly debited in your bank account is not really an accurate amount you still owes when you check your actual balance only, the total amount to pay has an additional interest to your statement. This is misleading and like a scam, it’s not clear from their website that a loan is 9.9% with interest, so if you applied for loan a loan amount of £25k payable in 5 years, you will end up paying a total of more than £40k,so be careful in applying as this will ruin your life.

Terrible service, staff have no idea what they are doing. Called after a couple of transactions on my statement that I didn’t notice, I was given a telephone number that related to the transactions and was told to call them myself (foreign number). I told the person I was talking to that I wasn’t willing to call the number and surely it was their job to investigate, after two very long phone calls, they’ve blocked my card and sending me another one. Extremely unhelpful and non existent customer service.

Avoid using credit card abroad I have had a Sainsburys credit card for a number of years and been quite happy. However a recent experience caused me considerable financial problems, and Sainsburys are not interested. On hoilday in South East Asia my card was suddenly blocked. My hotel had a slow internet connection which caused a timeout with the card terminal. This apparently was registered as an incorrect PIN, and after 3 attempts the card was blocked. Apparently, although not mentioned on their website, you are allowed '3 incorrect PIN attempts, or timeouts, IN THE LIFE OF THE CARD'. I telephoned Sainsburys and was told that the PIN could only be unblocked from an ATM in the UK, which was a great help when I had 3 weeks remaining on my holiday in Asia.

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a Bank. Appalling customer service with staff who don't have a clue.
