I’m posting on behalf of my son who is now extremely anxious and distressed with this company. He took out a policy with this company a couple of weeks ago and was sent a ‘telematics device’ which he installed in accordance with the instructions sent including downloading an app for his phone. The final paragraph of the instructions states: ‘Once you’ve connected successfully, the light on your device should turn to blue. Once this happens, you are good to go!’ There is no warning in the instructions about taking the device out of the socket once the car is parked. He was happy as he was now driving. However, yesterday he received a warning email from the company stating ‘As explained in our welcome emails and online, your app and telematics device must remain connected and in use at all times; failure to record all journeys will result in the cancellation of your policy. You will also be asked to pay cancellation fees in addition to any insurer charges. To avoid cancellation, please contact us within 7 days so that we can discuss what happened in this instance. If we don't hear from you we will send you notice of cancellation.’ My son telephoned the company yesterday and informed them that after completion of each journey he unplugged the device to save battery drain. The customer representative stated that under the terms and conditions of the policy the device must be plugged in at all times. He accepted what the customer representative said and was informed that his policy would NOT be cancelled. However, today he has received another email stating exactly the same thing. He is now distressed and anxious that not only will his policy be cancelled despite what he was told by the company but as stated in the email he will incur charges and then he will find it difficult to get insurance in the future as he will have had insurance cancelled. He wants to do the right thing so he sent an email to the company asking for help and advice on the operation of the ‘device’ as when he is parked the light on the device goes out so therefore cannot transmit data and therefore would appear to be ‘disconnected’ before he phones the company again. Should the company cancel his policy and incur charges, I will be contacting the Insurance Ombudsman on his behalf.

Terribble cancel policey for nothing then refuse to fix the damage they have done to my car when putting box in cant even put me on the phone to the boss of company apparently he dosent have a phone 👍

I'm sorry to see but the first time I made the insurance with you I trusted you now I changed my mind, it's not normal I have 2 cars insured to you and I use no bonus clause for just one car, that car does not drive me all? do you feel normal? I'm sorry to tell you, but next year I do not want to continue your insurance with your company. thank you

Not very helpful at all. I have phoned several times to try sort out my payment plan. To be met with voices in background noone speakin then getting hung up on. I will no be renewing my contract with yourselfs ever.

Try to get so much money out of you. Normally i never complain about anything but this is the most ive ever paid for an insurance and this is my third year driving.

Instalation of blackbox after 9 days After 3 months my insurance score was 96 and from 150£ a month had go down to 130 In 2 driving days my scor was dropt to 75 ???#@?£?#?@@&?? What??? Nobody called me like other reviewers say and i didn't do any accident or something. So i called to cancel it before they do it. I pays 390 deposit ,90 instalatiotion and 70 to close it. After 2 month i wake up that i must pay them extra 53 £ ?????? You are allways stress oot at the wheel .I nevever had any auto event in europe for 9 years . BUY A NORMAL INSURANCE WITHOUT BLACKBOX

Very poor customer service and they are very quick to want to cancel the policy and charge you cancellations fees. Be weary they can charge you if you don't get your box fitted in time. This can easily happen because it is difficult getting an appointment within the time limit. Plus if the box doesn't work, you have to re-book the appointment, again if you don't respond quick enough they will cancel your policy plus charge you. If you wan't to change the simplest thing on your insurance they will charge you a ridiculous amount. Just called to ask them to transfer my cover onto a different car. The customer service advisor asked me all the questions she needed to regarding the new car, only to tell me that it says "NO Quote". I'm here like what does that even mean? Also am I the only one who finds their emails really threatening? Every email they send to you as a reminder comes with a threat of cancelling your policy. I'm grateful I've not been involved in an accident whilst with wise driving. I can't wait to switch.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! I have been with them for a year and had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE!! when getting the policy i was told i would need a black box which i was fine with, but i was assured there would be no curfew or timings on it as i work in a hotel so drive at all times of the morning and night. this was not the case and the main part of the black box score was about usage and what time of day i use my car, they then wanted to charge me for using my car at night. it cost me £350 to change the car on my policy, while changing my policy over the phone i changed my address which cost nothing. i then notice they hadn't changed my address so i called again to change it and they wanted me to pay £500 just to change my address!!! They have been taking money out of my account without notifying me £50 here and there which i called about and they said it was due to my driving score. i check my driving score regularly on the dashboard which has always been around 8/10 every month but they refused to refund me. nasty customer service who absolutely do NOT care!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Awful customer service! rude, don’t do what they say, advise you incorrectly and total rip off company. For 1 mth insurance they are charging me £700. I put £300 down paid 1mth premium at £128 and cancelled. I got advised no refundable deposit of £150 plus £75 cancellation free and any remaining money would be put back onto my card! I then receive a bill asking me for a balance of £300 for time insured!!

This not an insurance company to use at all. Changed the direct debit 2 times even before the first direct debit was taken. Cancelled the insurance suddenly for no concrete reason. Just because an appointment was missed I was charged over 40 pounds. They are completely unreliable!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree customer service is dreadful on hold every time for 50 minuets each time you ring.We sent the V5 to them 7 times as they kept saying they didn’t receive it and once received they added more money to the policy. Do not get insurance with them for young drivers stay well away

DO NOT GET INSURANCE THROUGH WISEDRIVING. I opted for the plug the device in tracker as I didn’t want them taking my car apart to fit a black box. I didn’t use my car for several days as I have been ill with anxiety and depression. The 13th March was the first day I used the device and my car. The blue light was not coming up, I sat on the phone to a lady and went through all reasons why the device was not connecting to my phone. Turns out the reason was because I didn’t have the app opened. After that it was working fine and the device was monitoring my driving and showing up my journeys on the app. 4 days later I received a letter dating the 13th March, stating my policy had been cancelled!!!!! Reason following previous correspondence. I checked my emails and no emails, no letters, no phone call! I phoned them straight away, the reason was apparently because my device wasn’t plugged in! Well firstly how do they know I had even drives anywhere in that week. Also where was my letter to tell me. Thirdly why is my app monitoring my driving perfectly??? I wasn’t able to speak to the relevant team the time I called so I asked somebody to call me the next day.. to which nobody did!!!! I rang them that day again and asked what was going on, customer service was terrible! I asked to speak to managed. I told managed the app is working and has been monitoring my driving fine she asked me to send an email with screenshots of the app which scores which I did!!! I was told would have to wait till Friday (2 days later) for a response from the underwriters on whether they could reinstate my policy. I waited and heard nothing so I called again and asked for the manager. Manager wasn’t available but told the members of staff to tell me the underwriters will not reinstate my policy. I called today (Friday) as I wanted to know my rights. Apparently I have no rights. Apparently I had emails sent to me (which I have not received) and there’s no way I can get my deposit back. I was insured for 2 weeks!!!! My £190 deposit would cover that but person on phone said I may owe money to underwriters....??? My insurance is only £85 per month!!!! Absolutely appalling company and has made me cry with frustration!!!! Never use them!!

My daughter is in the process of taking insurance out with these cowboys, i hope she isn't going to regret it as her original quote of £1300 went up to £1500 she needed to change the date and it went to over 2k!!! Called up a lad spoke to her and said they would honour the 1500 quote for the original date, my daughter spent 5 minutes seeing if she could get cover for the other few days on a day insurance, called back and they said her registration number wasn't on any of the quotes, total rubbish!! So she's ended up now having to pay over £1,660, absolutely disgraceful, they lost information and my daughter is to pay, I think its bad enough what younger drivers have to pay, i will be watching closely at any further costs and how customer service is maintained, i certainly hope to be seeing significant reductions during the year with this black box insurance for her and in their service!! I certainly wouldn't take insurance out with them, you have youngsters over a barrel, very murky world of insurance :(
