GT update your site and people only review the workability of the site and not your stupidity to get conned by scammers. If you don't read the safety advice, that's your problem.”

Gum tree very in safe when it comes to refunds. Always use Paypal, never use direct debit or credit card”
“My husband and I purchased a kitten last Saturday from Claire in Haddington Claire was kind enough to deliver the kitten to us following all of the covid 19 rules I myself is unable to wear a face mask due to underlying health condition. We called the kitten daisy her very own new pet carrier arrived today pink and black just waiting on her new blankets with her own personalized name on the blankets for her pet carrier. Her new toys arrived today as well . Daisy is very lively which we're very happy about . My other 2 older cats are curious about her but we've kept daisy in our bedroom for the time being hopefully in the next couple of weeks daisy can have the run of the whole flat before my holiday ends in a couple of weeks. We're slowly introducing daisy into her new family and it's going very well with the boys we have. I can see daisy running rings around the both of them. Anyway just wanted Claire to know that daisy is doing well and she has also settled in very quickly and thankyou.”

GumTree : protect contact numbers and run live chat customer service again. ( or is it well hidden?, can find in half an hour. )”

I can't actually access the gumtree. All I get is cookies constantly asking me to accept them. So I don't use this site no more as its not possible.

“Great site When You Get A Decent person / buyer. The problem is the majority of users are absolute dotes who enquire with no intention whatsoever of buying from you and just intentionally waste your time! People even arrange to view or buy things from you and then don't turn up.. and they can then leave you negative feedback! Feedback system needs to be removed or altered entirely.. People who don't buy anything off you can leave you should not be able to leave feedback.. Could you imagine this on eBay. It destroys reputable businesses!”
“I have posted a few ads recently and have had quite a few responses. However, the majority of responses i have had have been time wasters. They ask if its available, arrange to collect and then don't turn up. And when you message to find out what's happening they ignore and don't get back to you. There should be something in place to keep a track if the people who do this. Also, I have a response rating of 78% but I reply to EVERY message i get, which I am very confused about.”

“Today I went to pick up a Britax car seat (46 mile round trip) which was rated 'as new' and 'accident free', 'only used by grandparents a couple of times'. I went to view it & it looked ok so I bought it. When I got home I took the cover off (which had obviously been washed as it smelt all over of some sort of strong detergent?!) It had a rip in the cushioning and was very mottled/stained. The car seat was also abit dirty with crumbs etc. under the cover and in the crevices. I contacted the lady that sold it to me to let her know I was quite disappointed and felt I had been mislead, and asked if I could have a refund. The lady told me the seat might have been picked by a child.. then told me it wasn't like that when she sold it to me and I had probably ripped it myself. The lady refused to refund me instantly and said she wont take it back.”

I really wanted to share my experience of trying to selling items via Gumtree. I would advise no one to sell any valuable items via your site. It was one of the worst experiences I have had using an online app.
I am dumbfounded by the amount of con-artists, scammers and fraudsters that are on there trying to scam money out of me...
I was trying to sell my new i-phone and have never experienced something so draining and actually one of the worst customer experiences.
I can't believe that you still have not put any measures in place to protect customers or brought in security tools to authentic your users. I have had over 100 messages and over 90% on them trying every trick in the book to get money from me whether that be asking for my bank details, personal paypal info, share my work screen, passwords, googlehangout, credit card info...
It's an absolute joke and it's lucky i'm switched on and don't fool for this type of crazy. I would imagine thousands of your customers are getting robbed..
You have a duty of care to put measures in place to protect customers???? It's really not difficult to authentic your users....

“I had one successful sale but with the further two items I am becoming very suspicious of the standard ‘ is this item still for sale ‘ message relayed , which on being confirmed never gets a further reply . It’s free but only because they know they will draw many into making a further payment to boost (?) advert !”
