They have charged me for damage on the wrong vehicle even though the registration number is different to the one I hired despite their own photographic evidence. Trying to get hold of anyone to talk to and show their mistake on their documentation is impossible.

The car was fine. What really upset me was the extra £150 they charged me after the car was paid for. I was quoted £50 for the one way fee when I paid for the rental. When I picked up the vehicle, the one way fee was £200. When I brought this up and asked why there response was that's the fee, "Having reviewed the Intercity fee on your invoice, the charges are correct." That it was not what was quoted when the booking was paid for didn't seem to bother anyone at Hertz, they think this is normal business behaviour.

Hi everyone. Be careful of renting from this company in france nimes . They're fraud and scammer. Pls check the car properly before singing anything and lookout for chips on the windscreen and lift the both wiper up to check for chips or crack. They will take money from your credit card and charge you ridiculous amount for windscreen. I was charged £2500 to replace windscreen that's not fault. One of their worker told me the cracks was there and immediately the other worker speak French to him and he change his tone to I don't understand English. I've sent several emails asking for quotations. They never come back to me. Pls be careful with this company.

We picked up a Hertz (it was originally supposed to be Thrifty) hire car from Geneva airport which already had some reported damage. Due to the way that the car was parked (very close to the car in front) I was unable to inspect the very lower part of the front bumper. I did try to raise a small number of other bits of damage (scratches mostly) but these were waved away by the staff and not added to the pre-hire inspection report. I was unable to drive the car until I had agreed to the pre-hire inspection form, and therefore was unable to move the car to fully inspect the front until I had signed the form. I drove the car very carefully during our 4-day hire and did not notice at any time the small dint to the lower front bumper or the scrapes to the plastic underside of the front bumper. On return, the staff immediately identified the damage to the underneath of the front bumper despite it not being able to be seen unless you were lying on the floor in front of the car. I denied causing the damage and my wife asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. The staff then spoke among themselves (in French which we could understand) deciding who was going to be the manager and basically said that if we didn't have photos from the start of the hire then we had to pay. I have since received an invoice for about £1000 which they insist I need to pay by bank transfer. I continued to dispute the invoice on the basis that I was unable to fully inspect the car due to its parking location before signing the agreement. From the way the staff were acting, both during the pickup (retrospectively) and during the drop-off, I believe that they knew the damage was there the whole time and I am effectively the 'fall guy' to pick up the bill. At no point have Hertz attempted to address any of my concerns but have now referred the matter to a UK debt collection agency who are now threatening to take me to court. Hertz or Thrifty, never ever again. Hirers beware.

I hired a car from hertz, left £200 deposit, took it nearly 3 hours, i have done 33 miles return, when i took the car back, the agent has confirmed, everything was OK, Next day Hertz sent me in invouce of £35.52 to pay, because they claim i done £448 miles. But i only took the car for 3 hours from 09.00an to 12.00 noon. Is it possible to do 448 miles in three hours, plus they added some extra charges which doesn't make sense to me. If you are thinking of hiring from Hertz, think about the outcome and the extra charges that you will not be told about. The dispute will continue.

They claimed i had done damage to the rear bumper. Took pictures before and after. Looked exactly the same and i didnt hit anything with the car. Deducted 205 euros from my deposit. Pictures they sent were identical with the ones i took. Feels like a scam. Take the train instead if possible…

Disappointed by Unjust Charges: Hertz Norway Review My initial experience with Hertz Norway was promising; however, it was quickly overshadowed by their unjust and unilateral charging practices. Despite returning the rental car in perfect condition, I was hit with unexpected administration fees for toll charges not explicitly outlined in the agreement. Despite my attempts to resolve the issue, Hertz Norway refused to remit the unjustified amount. Such disregard for customer concerns and unilateral charging practices tarnished what could have been a positive experience. Beware of hidden fees and unilateral actions by Hertz Norway, which mar an otherwise decent service.

The Airport office was closed we landed just after 12 midnight Once we were able to locate the hire car, which was on an industrial estate twenty mins away a taxi cost us over fifty pounds We had an elderly chap with bone cancer travelling with us which was why we needed the car from the Airport We had hired the car from discover cars.com who passed it to Thrifty, who passed it to hertz’s All three would not help and change the drop off for the Airport even thou I explained about our disabled chap Heartless companies Didn’t care about our situation Customer service was shocking Thrifty and Discovercars.com are very good at putting the phone down thou Thrifty do one better and actually told me I hadn’t phoned them Awful experience

They lied to our face. Then when we called and confronted them they tried to say they didnt. But they knew they did. They said they would gove us a refund. But we would have to do it in person. Which I can not do because I work 9 to 5. When they are open. I will never use hertz again.

First of all before I used Hertz on this occasion I thought they were a reputable company who could be trusted. How wrong was I. I hired a car through Thrifty and on arriving at Girona Airport I discovered that Thrifty was part of Hertz and also Dollar. Obtaining the vehicle appeared quick and easy but they had no one to go over the car with me to identify if there was any marks or damages and I discovered latter they sent through an apparent documenting highlighting damage by email. The suggested damage they highlight was at best a different tone in the paint which I hadn’t even been able to see from my inspection of the car. I took impeccable care of the car and returned it in exactly the same condition as I had received it. I dropped it back at 0830hours and as, despite being at the airport, they don’t open until 0900hours I had to drop the keys off out of hours. I then get an invoice to say there was damage to the vehicle and they provided photos to show a small mark on the internal plastic panel of the drivers door. This was barely visible and has no impact on the use or cosmetics of the car. I suspect it would have been there previously however unless you spend 1hour going through every inch of the car with a fine tooth comb you would never have noticed it. For this small mark which I have attached photographs off they have charged £177 including a €35 out of service charge. As you can see from the photos this clearly would not render the vehicle out of service in any way. What was also of note is they hadn’t highlighted the mark that they had suggested was on the car when I picked it up. As such I suspect both these marks have been on the car for some time and the company just rotate them to charge unsuspecting customers each time they hire a car with them. Further to this despite submitting a complaint I have heard nothing back and they have lied on things such as the invoice suggesting I asked to pay in £’s rather than €’s so they could give an awful exchange rate to make even more money. Also rather than just keeping the disputed blocked on my card whilst liking to resolve me disputing the charges they immediately took the money from my account and again I have had no response to me disputing the damage and also the amount they have suggested it would cost. Just to be clear this hasn’t actually cost me any money as I have insurance that covers me for this however it is clear Hertz are conning their customers and doing this for a money making business. They are in essence committing fraud and I would advise against anyone using them. I certainly will not be using them again and will advise everyone I know to avoid them. If I could give this company 0 stars then I would.

Rental broke down and left stranded in a village in a foreign country. Promised replacement vehicle was cancelled and we told to make our own arrangements. Despite 4 emails and 3 phone calls, nothing received from them. Absolute masters of poor customer service. I always respected the name of Hertz for quality and through one experience, it's become the worst I have ever known! It really doesn't take much to say sorry with some meaning!

Re Hertz Malta. Do not use this fraudulent dishonest company. Visited Malta from UK for a long weekend. It was pretty straightforward on collecting the car, apart from being charged an on the spot out of hours fee which we weren’t aware of at the time of booking. We were handed the keys and directed to where we would find the car. Before we set off, luckily we took photos and videos of the condition of the car (which has scuffs, scratches, dents everywhere). We dropped the car off several days later and there was no one around to check the car in due to having to get a morning flight; we used the drop box. Again, vitally important, we took photos/videos of the car after we had dropped it off. A few weeks later £400+ is taken from my credit card without any prior notification. Upon querying this we finally received a response advising it is due to new damage. They produced documents to show before and after condition reports/photos. Had I not taken photo/video evidence I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on. However, my photos/videos clearly show the ‘new damage’ was already present on the car when I picked it up. Save yourself the hassle dealing with unauthorised fraudulent transactions and go with another rental company. Will never use Hertz again, anywhere in the world.

I was driving your rental when a 6 ft tractor retread came at me and I couldn’t avoid it without causing a deadly accident. Damage happened to the car. The amount of fees you are charging me for this are insane. You are robbing me for your cost of doing business. It is unethical and a completely ignorant way to do business. Not only will I never use hertz again but I will be discouraging everyone I know to ban hertz. The amount of social media posts I will be making will cause even more to go elsewhere. You also charged me for a toll and I was never on a toll road. You seem to think you can just use my credit card as though you pay the bill. You are a rip off unethical and ignorant company not to mention your total lack of customer service as I have been trying to contact your claims department and never get a call back or a live person to speak with.

Extremely poor customer service and rude staff behavior. Won't recommend taking hertz service and get last minute disappointed . Had my indian driving license and international driving permit and still did not allow me to take the car . Extremely painful experience whereas europcar was fast, easy and reliable . Would recommend europcar for their service

Stay away, avoid at all cost. They ruined our family Christmas holidays, our road trips were curtailed, zero quality control as cars we let out upon return with no service or cleaning, promises of a possible partial refund made by the service desk were reneged, we were given a total of 5 cars, 4 with defects over 3 days before driving off with something decent, we spent long hours at their hours. Never again

I rented an electric car from hertz Heathrow airport, there scum is , when you return the car , the battery would not be exactly fully charged , so they tell you that there will be a small charge, and they work it for you , they told me that I have to pay £18.06, as you sigh on a piece of paper , you will be sighing for the rental super insurance, plus licence fee, which was a total of £73, when you send them e mails they don't answer you to explain why, so be careful and keep away from them.
