“Excellent service via phone when I called about the availability of a date! Quick postage and a really good website easy to use. Only reservation was price - thought it was a little pricey, but there is a lot of bonus extras that are free (such as the call centre who were happy to help, and the personalised certificate of authenticity is a really nice touch!)”

“Easy to use, excellent service, shipping was a little slow and it felt a little pricey (but that was because the recipient was a Sunday birthday and Sunday paper have a cost supplement) but the gift was beautiful, and much appreciated. Would definitely recommend. Thankyou.”

“Unfortunately there was an error with my order (wrong date of newspapers throughout the book). I reported this straight away and the lady I spoke to was extremely apologetic and reordered me another book which arrived fairly quickly. This was an 80th birthday present for my dad and it could have been a disaster had I not ordered the book in plenty of time. This is the first time I have used Historic Newspapers and I would certainly do so again, however, I do think that quality control department needs to be more vigilant when processing orders to ensure that the newspaper date ordered matches both the front cover and inside of the books.”

“Everything worked as advertised; delivery was fairly prompt, the paper was in good condition, so I was pleased with that. The price seemed high, but given there was no other source that I could find I was pleased that at least someone had archived it, and it can't be cheap to purchase and store all the material, so fair dues.”

“Easy website to navigate. Very quick delivery. Nice to have presentation box, only comment would be is that the presentation box is bigger than the paper so it slides around. Fine if you store it flat but less so if you want to store it vertically.”

“I ordered the historic cricket book for my Dads 80th birthday. Was easy to order and was delivered by the date that I was told. I opted to have it personalised with a message for my dad and have to say this was the only bit that was a little disappointing. It was just a square of paper stuck into the book with my message typed onto it... I don’t know why but I was expecting a little more than that. Other than that I think the book is great value and a great buy for a milestone birthday.”

“I ordered a Saturday newspaper but it came without the supplemental magazine, which was the part that I had wanted. This would have been less of a complaint had I not rung them before placing the order and been assured that supplements would be included. On the positive side, the paper was delivered very promptly and the returns procedure is straightforward. Also, the lady I spoke to afterwards with regard to my disappointment was very understanding and apologetic.”

“The ordering for this was smooth enough although I did have difficulty getting it to save the rewording of my personalisation text at the final confirmation stage. This book came perfectly packaged and was very well protected for transit. The book itself was great - I bought it for my mum and it was fascinating to see how they used to print multiple stories on the front page of The Mirror, rather than the far less interesting single paragraph of modern times. The book was personalised as I expected but what I didn't expect was that it was merely printed onto a little piece of paper and then stuck on. Surely if the book is "made to order" it is really not much of a stretch to print this properly onto a full page of the book. This choice means I have to knock 1 star off. But it's a very unique present - and I even managed to bag a 10% discount (for Father's Day - even though it was actually for my mum).”
