My wife purchased goods from them online and since then we have have been inundated with catalogues from companies selling all and sundry. This company has obviously sold on our details, without our permission and contrary to data protection, to a Company called Epsilon Abacus who then pass your details onto all catalogue companies. So not only do they take your money for goods they are so greedy and have such little disregard for their customers that they pass you on. Give them a miss unless you want to be plagued by catalogue companies.

Everything! From sending the parcel with the worst delivery service ever To Evri loosing the watch To having to call yourselves at least 6 times to no avail To finally being told that the parcel was list and I am now awaiting a refund as the watch had sold out.

I was trying to place an order online, but Bruar’s website had an issue. It’s 2 weeks ago now. Phoned several times. Been blatantly lied 🤥 to that someone had phoned and left me a vm, but the Advisor couldn’t tell me what the message was!!! Still unresolved. Even emailed the Director, you guessed……. No reply or even acknowledgment. Bitterly disappointed 😔

Today my husband, son and 2 grandchildren were in the restaurant. One of my grandchildren has a chronic allergy that is life threatening if he eats the wrong food, or foods that have been cross contaminated with another intolerant food. Anyway, we were at the carvery counter and myself and husband ordered the roast beef, and to be honest the quality was not as good as it used to be, last time was April 2022(we are quite regular customers as we travel this road to visit grandchildren) my son asked one of the guys behind the counter if he could have 2 bowls of chips for the children as they were our safe bet, but my husband asked if he could have fresh ones that were in the drier. The guy said those in the Bain Marie were fresh, my son said he wasn’t disbelieving him, but the tongs that were on the chips could have been used in other dishes of food as you can’t guarantee a customer don’t use the same tongs/ spoon for other food. My son was just trying to keep his son safe, but the guy behind carvery said, there’s not dairy or anything in them they’re just potatoes, and he started to laugh!!! My son was so taken aback by his attitude that he raised his voice and said he wasn’t stupid and he knows what chips are made out of, but couldn’t guarantee that they had not been contaminated with the tongs if they’d been used for anything else. To be honest, it was a small ask to wait for fresh chips but yet your staff member had to make a thing out of it. I was standing down the line from my son, then the guy came to serve me and he was laughing and said did you hear that guy, I said I did and told him it wasn’t a laughing matter and he was my son. He then shut up and got on with serving. The other guy behind the carvery took over and served my son. I’m just appalled at the customer service. I worked in tourism for most of my career with Visit Scotland and have recommended thousands to the House of Bruar over the years. But after today I’m so upset and disgusted( that’s a strong word) but I am. How can a first class 5* establishment change so much in a short time. Not sure if you still have the 5* but I don’t think if that’s the attitude to your customers you should have. Also just to point out, my son has to carry an epi-pen with him as my grandsons allergies are life threatening.

First purchase white cashmere roll neck - it is not white. Sludgy oatmeal. Second purchase long sleeved berry cotton top. Very small sizing, slightly odd shape under arms. I could shrug my shoulders and say just not my fit, but we pay postage, and then we pay to return goods. I have paid £9.80 in all to try on tops. Would have been twice that had I not complained and been given a return postage paid voucher. No more purchases, I'm done.

Purchases and refunds VERY slow. Bought two Harris Tweed coats one long length for formal wear and a pea coat for casual. Horrified to see pea coat £100 cheaper a couple of weeks after my first purchase,along with a jumper reduced by £30 !! How about making things a little cheaper to begin with? Worn the pea coat first time today, found material thin and not vet warm as with the other coat.lining is cheap and uncomfortable and internal fastening button has been lost within1/2 an hour so will have to find another and do some sewing..... on a brand new coat !! Love wool garments it’s the best material ever, but these guys are just too overpriced for the quality given. Won’t be back in a hurry ... if at all !!

I have returned a gilet that was too big for me (at a cost to myself) & 4 weeks later I am still waiting for my refund. I have emailed them many times & have had no response. Luckily I paid through paypal so have opened a case against them. It is so very disappointing as I have visited the shop many times over the last 20 years but their on line service leaves a lot to be desired. Won't be using it again!

“Buyer, beware.” This company charges for returns, basically they are not offering a mail-order service. Which is very disappointing. I feel the marketing team should make people aware that they do not give free returns. Or maybe this is part of their marketing ploy. The end result is of course is that I won’t ever be doing any business with house of Briar again, As I feel I’ve been scammed. I returned the products at a cost of £7. This was to send, second class, as it would have cost me considerably more to insure the contents worth £470. To be honest it’s not about the money it’s about the principle of the thing. There are many companies supplying similar quality products online. I suggest any customers who like tweeds and country attire look elsewhere. Lord Mark Durrant

Poor packing trousers unwrapped with bits of lint on them evidently been worn before ? Wrote an email didnt reply. Sent an item back didnt contact me to say they were sending a refund eventually Couldn't care less attitude . Avoid.

I bought a shawl collar cardigan color moss for my partner, amd it is absolutely amazing, great cardigan! He loves it. I simply adore! I have a soft spot for cardigans and this was 5th cardigan I gave him. I was trying to find something that is warm, cool look, like, a bit over sized, and stylish, but also rural. And to my surprise this was the perfect cardigan! I love it so, that I wear it, when my partner is not. I do want another one, just so I always have one to wear! I do find it super cool on me too! Moss color is just so beautiful! Quality is amazing! Truly, my favourite cardigan now! Thank you House of Bruar! Also, I received it in a fine box, that made it even better for a present! Absolute love!

So am u being unreasonable. I bought nearly a 1000 pounds of gear off briar 6 years ago. Most of it has worn well .except a jacket of a suite I bought at the same time and have worn 5 times and the lining has come apart in the jacket and the pocket.. they are saying its to long since I bought it .I'm saying I've worn it for less than 12 hours total.

I ordered a large size ladies' sweater 'a few left' so I put it quickly into the basket. I was told that my order had been confirmed by email. I wish I had not accepted this and instead printed off or taken a screen print of the basket-page. When I got home late last night I found that the 'confirmatory email' confirmed an order for another item which I had not made and did not want. Not surprisingly (at c 10pm) the sweater concerning the order I HAD made was 'out of stock'.

My Husband ordered online a ladies jacket on my behalf as a Birthday gift . The picture showed the jacket in a lovely pale green with an orange lining. The jacket did arrive promptly, however was nothing like the picture on the website. The jacket I received was a deep dark green with an orange lining. We explained the problem to an assistant on the online chat, who just said, return the item if you don’t want it. It wasn’t my fault that the colour was not as described but I’ve had to pay £12 to return the jacket, which I’m hoping will be refunded sooner rather than later, although from reading some of the other reviews I have my doubts. I am surprised that no explanation has been offered by the company for this error on their behalf, as I get the impression they regard themselves as providing a quality service. I won’t be shopping with The House of Bruar in the future and will not be recommending it to others either.

Picture of what I was buying very different to reality. Marzipan vegetables in a basket. Very disappointing and will not be giving it as a gift as planned. Never buying from them again.

Absolute disgrace Absolute disgrace. Never buy from this company. I placed an order on 19th November. It was to be a Christmas present. I’ve been chasing them about this order for weeks. They informed that the item was in the warehouse, was being checked & was about to be dispatched. On the evening of 21st December they emailed me to say the item is not in stock and they cannot fulfil my order! They even had the nerve to ask me to be understanding! What a cheek! I now have to go shopping on 22nd December when I’m living in a Tier 4 lockdown. Outrageous!

Please do not buy anything online from this company. I ordered sheepskin boots which had bald patches and were worn away at the seams when I received them. Their website avoids to mention that these boots ( and other products) are, in fact, made in China. I have no problem with goods made in China, should I have the opportunity to make an informed purchase - but they should not be advertising under the banner of 'quality Scottish goods' Their customer service stops when you make a purchase. No manager will respond. I have been informed that I need to return the defective items at my own expense. Caveat emptor is the over-riding factor with this company, sadly.

Just opened my "white" cashmere snood, what an absolute joke!!!!!!! the colour is CREAM exactly the same colour as my other one from John Lewis and the quality of this cashmere is terrible, thin flimsy and very disappointing!!!!!!. will never buy anything from this company ever again , may i suggest you send this item straight back to its manufacturer - China I imagine!!!.

I nearly didn’t order from this company after reading the online reviews. I had been looking for something very specific after seeing someone wearing a suede jacket on TV, couldn’t find it anywhere else, so decided to take a chance. I’m very glad I did. The customer service was excellent. I followed their size guide and it fits perfectly. They advised when it would arrive, and that’s when it arrived. It was well packaged. It’s beautiful quality and exactly what I expected. I’m a bit of a bargain hunter and made an exception paying full price for this. So if it hadn’t been perfect, I absolutely would not be writing this review. So just goes to prove that the online reviews shouldn’t always be what makes my decision when ordering online. Thank you House of Bruar, I am a very happy customer and wouldn’t hesitate to order from you again.

THEY DON’T DESERVE TO BE IN BUSINESS. TOTALLY INCOMPETENT - AND DON’T SEEM TO CARE. Every time I have ordered from this company they have messed up. They have absolutely no idea how to sell online in the age of Amazon. Their customer service is totally incompetent- and the staff just laugh when you tell them how badly they have let you down. They have no sense of urgency. They get orders wrong. The do not reply to emails. They don’t answer the phone. They take a week to return your call when you can’t get through and they have asked you to leave your number - because they are “unusually busy”. No wonder they are busy - dealing with thoroughly disgruntled and disappointed customers. Don’t ever shop with them - I certainly never will again.

SERIOUSLY APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE! I ordered a red suede belt back in November and paid for express delivery. I received a purple belt. Unfortunately no paperwork or returns information with the belt. At this point I called House of Bruar to be informed that they do not have the ability to email a returns label and I will have to wait for one to be posted. Ten days later I’m on the phone chasing up the label and again after emailing and it finally arrives the week before Christmas. After receiving no returns confirmation that the belt has been received back, I email but get no response. Then on the 31st of December I get an email to thank me for my order and it will be despatched shortly. Again I phone to find out they are sending a replacement (5 weeks later!) I say no thank you and ask for a refund as expressed quite clearly back in November. I’m told it will be two more weeks before I get my refund and that they will not be sending me any kind of email to confirm any of this!! Seriously!! What kind of way is this to operate a business. I’m appalled! HOUSE OF BRUAR!! Why don’t you spend less on glossy brochures and invest it instead on customer service!! Seriously shocking behaviour in today’s market! I will never shop with this company again!
