“The inserts themselves are good. My only knock is the shipping time. I understand COVID disrupted things, but it took forever for these to arrive.”

“Bought enough acoustic inserts to cover my entire second floor (open concept) and my main bedroom. A few of the inserts didn't fit as snug as the majority but they seem to be secure. Bedroom (third floor) was a nice improvement. Second floor left a little more to be desired but it was still an improvement than without. I'd guess 35% noise reduction with my double pane windows. I do plan to buy inserts for the remainder of my windows.”

“Aside from supply chain challenges driving a 3 month lead time (completely out of your hands, we understand), the process was very easy. Your representative was very informative and helpful, and the self measuring and installation instructions were easy to follow.”

“I am revising a past review after working with Indow's customer service to handle a communications problem. I am ordering my second pair of inserts, and they work well for the areas promised. They effectively cut out high and mid-range frequencies. On the day I installed the inserts, there was a party across the street with approximately 20 loud children. The noise was completely blocked when I installed the inserts. I've also had a few times when I've been in my office and the neighbor's kids were playing in my yard; can't hear them at all. When I travel to visit my parents and get woken up by a dog barking somewhere in the neighborhood, or an HVAC machine kicking on, I think about the inserts because I'm positive they would block that sound. On low-range frequencies: the inserts aren't so great at blocking these. I was really hoping they would be, but not solidly expecting it. Low wavelengths are extremely difficult to block. I live by a noisy road with a steep hill. The high pitch swish of traffic gets blocked out, but low motor noises and engine sounds do not. I've found noise-cancelling headphones to be effective in this case. If you are buying these to block low pitched sounds, do your due diligence - you might not get much benefit from these (or much else, to be honest). But other sounds - dogs barking, the swish of a freeway half a mile away, etc - I think you'll be pleased. There was a communications issue on my last order, but it was promptly resolved.”

“We have four AC units outside the master bedroom window. The Indow inserts have probably reduced the noise by about 50%”

“Most folks I know have issues with street noise. The excess noise is caused by a wide bandwidth of frequency. The high end Japanese cars are now MUCH quieter, by half according to the app Sound Meter. (Compared to readings taken by the back sliding glass door. The hot rod style exhaust has a lower frequency and is joined with the guy with the "thumpa thumpa" comes by. Make sure you analyze and measure your Db levels of concern. Clean and weather proof using caulking and sealing products, measure again. That may actually take care of a large portion of the problem.”

“Our property is adjacent to a busy street. We have two windows in the Master Bedroom, one window in the master bath and two windows in the "game room" that face this busy street. The new Indows are installed in the bedroom and the noise level is noticeably lower. We might consider the other windows for our next project.”

“The inserts significantly reduced the noise for our bedroom. They were easy to install. The entire procedure from purchase to delivery was very easy. The only portion that I would change is the chain and pull on the window. We were actually nervous pulling on them when adjusting as they don't feel very sturdy.”

“The service was great. The inserts have helped to reduce freeway and train whistle noise which are about a mile from our house, although I can still detect them but in a more muffled sound. I am very pleased with the results.”

“I installed them in mild weather when neither AC nor heat is required so I haven't realized their energy-saving potential yet but I'm optimistic because drafts I used to feel coming in through the closed windows I now don't. Everyone I dealt with at the Indows company during the purchase process was great.”

“There was some miscommunication on shipping between Indow and UPS freight which made for a frustrating delivery. Be expected for the delivery dates and times you receive from either company to not be accurate and somewhat variable. When opening the inserts, scissors are not strong enough to cut the bindings, would recommend a sharp knife. The inserts themselves are very easy to unpack and fairly easy to install. I only required additional help as my windows are over 12ft tall. There is some sound damping, but not sound proof. I would say decibels have been lowered by maybe 1-2db.”

“My main issue in my place is airport traffic and airplane noise. It is a hard issue to address and we were to minimize a little but not as much as I would like to. I also hear some round traffic noise, it is less noticeable but still there.”

“Communication throughout the process was very good, and I appreciated the initial video chat/consultation. The measurement kit was robust and easy to use, and the customer web portal made it simple to input (and double-check!) the measurements. Our insert arrived well packaged, with plenty of supporting videos & documentation for unpacking, installation, and maintenance. The fit, ultimately, is as accurate as I could expect for our application. Time will tell if the insert will hold up in its shower environment--over two weeks of use currently and all is well. Once I cleaned up the insert, it looked attractive for the purpose, and its privacy opacity is just right. I do have to mention that it arrived surprisingly dirty e.g., black smudges and streaks on the gasket and frame, particulates, grit, and grime on the acrylic window portion. There was no protective film to peel off as I'd been led to expect.”

Hi, Brian. Thanks for your review and picture. That Privacy Grade Indow insert looks great! We are so happy to hear you are satisfied with the Indow team and the performance of your insert. We do apologize for the smudges on your inserts upon delivery. The reason this happens is because the tubing is left unwrapped during shipment. We do this intentionally because silicone tends to have an unpleasant smell after it's made, so leaving it unwrapped until it arrives allows more time for the smell to dissipate. “Overall it works to reduce a lot of noise outside. But it is much heavier than I expected. So removing the inserts needs some time, and better two people. The only drawback is the dirt on the frame tube. You can see the frame tube is pretty dirty and sticky and hard to clean. This may be due to the dirt in the manufacture or the compressed packaging during shipping.”

You're on track regarding the root cause for the dirt, and fortunately it should be easy to clean with our cleaning instructions. The reason this happens is because we intentionally leave the tubing unpackaged while it's in transit. This allows it to air out and ensures that there aren't any unpleasant smells from the manufacturing process when your inserts arrive.
