“Phone service staff are very good and helpful but trade counter not so good often long waits despite having phoned in order 2 hours in advance This could be helped by having a Fasttrack section for those who think in advance and just want to be in and out. A friendly and cheerful face is always nice !!!!! ?”

“The only difficulty I experience is with the quality of some mouldings, particularly natural wood mouldings, since the decision was made to restrict access to the storage area to staff (there was no problem when you could pick your own). Where mouldings come wrapped in pairs, it is difficult to be sure about the quality without unwrapping them then and there, and I have recently had two warped lengths.”

“I'm extremely happy with the products and service you provide. Whenever I do have a small problem you are always quick to resolve the issue. It just surprises me that when I order chop service frames there nearly always is just one fault somewhere, and it would save you time and money if these were avoided (but we're all human and I can't say I ever get everything right first time!!)”

“Disappointed that Hayes has closed as usually collect and could get small orders there. But you colleague on the phone was helpful and we found a solution to my requirement. happy to try the service again. But sorry to ,lose the opportunity to enjoy the "retail experience"”

“I'm finding an increasing number of issues on warehouse picking errors, either wrong item or an obviously sub standard moulding being picked. Seems like there is not enough training given to warehouse staff. Problems are always corrected very quickly by the sales counter team but its normally inconvenient and must be at a cost to Lion which I think would be better spent to enhance the quality of the service. Sorry, this one is a bit picky....it's a pain to unwrap mouldings which are bubble wrapped and then taped over with clear parcel tape, life would be much easier if standard brown parcel tape was used, at least you can then see where you need to cut. One small issue on website orders for local van delivery, singe sheet options are not allowed on many items, e.g. foam lite and they have to be added to the order by way of a note in the comments section or by phone. This used to be the case with styrene sheets as well but this has been sorted. Otherwise generally excellent service and a pleasure to do business with Lion”

“I generally frame oil paintings and use a slip to create a demarcation between the work and the frame. I find the range of slips for this application increasingly limited. I like the Bianco range and continue to use these a lot but I've had to go to DJ Simons for the gold slips which were previously available at Lion. They also carry many more gallery style mouldings but they are, of course very expensive. I think a look at the American approach to framing 'classical subject' oil paintings especially using the cassetta style, 'built up frames', would be useful for your buyers. They seem to use a lot of black or ebonized frames with gold lining slips to great effect, especially on smaller paintings where the 'valued added' is greatly increased, I suppose it's the fashion over there but the effect is extraordinarily good. I very much like the distressed/shabby chic frames Lion have introduced. all in all I find the range of supplies and service very good with Lion, the turnaround is quick and although I'm a small customer I am treated well.”

“The delivery was very good. My problem is that the service is now available only from Birmingham (since the closure of Heathrow) with separate MOQs in relation to both mountboard and mouldings. While an overall purchase of, say, £50 would be acceptable, it is now likely that I will only be buying one category at once and I shall be looking for other sources. As a result I am likely to buy less overall from Lion. I hope this feedback is helpful. Robin Moulson”

“The hanging system which I have been very strong and dependable . I have found that after three years use the wire have become a little kinked ., though still perfectly robust . I have opted to use the smaller hanging hooks on the end of the wires to act as a small weight . This does two things . It helps to keep the wires straight and should one of the hanging hook slip ( which has occasionally happened it acts as a fail safe . I think little screw on weight for the bottoms of the wires is a good idea .”

“I use your chop service quite regularly and have noticed the reason some mouldings have to be replaced is not enough care is taken when picking the lengths, and leaving knots and other defects in the cut pieces or two different lengths which are of two different colours . It would save money in couriers to be more discerning.”

“The only faults I can see are on the chop service, I give you the glass size and sometimes the allowance you add is not enough and the fitting kits have eight springs in them regardless of the frame size, do you do bags with more springs in them?”

“I had a couple of issues in the past with the mouldings chop, but customer service has always been very good and rectified the problems. Good selection of mouldings and products in general. Sorry that Lion South, the branch near London, is now closed.”
