“We thought the postal charges for such a small item was excessive. The items could easily have been put in a jiffy bag and sent via royal mail for a quarter of the cost.”

“I buy Lion mouldings, because I want fsc timber made in the UK. I have been very happy with all the wood I have ordered over the last year and a bit. I also buy sundry items. I recently had to specify a shade of a particular bare wood moulding, and this was fulfilled without any problems. The delivery, in my experience, is extremely quick, and the drivers and customer service people pleasant and helpful. I have just cut and used the first sheet of conservation backing board, which is lovely stuff and is not only far easier to work with, but cuts without the dust and smell of hardboard. Much healthier to have around the place, and- assuming it does the job as a backing board long-term- then it is going to be well worth the extra cost. The only thing is that the packing protection was lame, and the corners were dented- (hence 4 stars, not 5). I already expect that this is what I will use in the future, so please improver the packing! The next thing I would like to see on the site is UK-grown timber indicated. Show me UK-grown, fsc timber, UK processed, and I will be very interested indeed. Thanks very much for the great service!”

“I run a small gallery and use Lion as my supplier, recently I had some product water damaged during delivery, there was no quibbling, there credited me for the amount damaged, I always recommend Lion to fellow artists, they have absolutely everything you could want to run an art business.”

“We have had a major exhibition this year and consequently have bought a lot of your chop frame product. We made a special trip to seek advice and to place our order. The initial reception was very poor with young men pretending they knew the answers to our question. They seemed surprised that we were prepared to wait to see Archana. We were glad we did because the contrast was profound. We like the M11 profile but find that it usually requires cleaning up which I do with a wooden coffee stirer. I've bought this type of frame from you for perhaps 20 years and don't remember having to clean up the cuts in the past. Generally we have found that your telephone operators are excellent. A special thanks to Tracey who trusted me with the measurements over the phone when our WiFi was playing up. When we have talked to your staff at the Spring/Autumn Fair we found the advice very useful. Your catalogues are excellent and revealing of the constant flow of new products. We may not be big spenders with you but we are certainly good ambassadors for Lion.”

“I have been using Lion for a number of years. I find that as a small framing hobbyist, I am treated no differently to a large framing business. The support and customer service I receive make me feel a valued customer. The wide range of stock and ease of ordering together with fast delivery make Lion my first choice every time. Living some distance away, I have tried a number of other providers over the years but Lion has always been my first choice with its vast range of stick and family value service.”

“My response is mixed, but it's been helped vastly by one visit from Steven (Stephen?) who I think is an outstanding salesman because he has the framing experience and has both feet firmly on the ground. We were very impressed with him and we hope he stays as our rep for a long time. Bad bits for me: the finishes on your open grain mouldings can be a bit rough, but I am also aware that you have contract framers as customers so you need mouldings that appeal because of price as well as those that appeal because of quality. It means I have to be quite careful about what I stock. I had an issue with online ordering that I had asked two people previously to sort out. The issue didn't get addressed, nine months had passed and I was getting very jaded with Lion. Steven sorted it immediately and has won us back as customers. That said, you have some truly terrific mouldings, your dispatch is pretty much faultless. Your courier choice is good, drivers are courteous and things rarely arrive damaged. Your catalogue is excellent. Oddly, I read it for pleasure! The Designer range is amazing - top class - I'm trying to find a way to justify the outlay on some of those mouldings ;-) Thanks for listening.”

“I was pleased with the rapid dispatch and quality of my order. But I needed some of item 7106. So, I rang last week about 16.5.16. because the website showed item 7106 was not available in white. I was assured by a young man he would check the supplier and email me that day with availability. No email to date! So I checked the website this week, still item not available. I rang on Monday, 23.5.16 and spoke , I think to the same man, who said he would check and email that day. I have still not received any email from you regarding when they might be available. I am getting a bit desperate for them now.”

“As a framer just starting out in the business, sometimes the minimum order makes it a bit more expensive than I want. One of your competitors will deliver very small orders for the small delivery fee of £7.95. The carriage isn't an issue but the minimum £30 mouldings order is not always welcome. Otherwise the range of products is great.”
