A good range of all the materials a framer needs. The Lion catalogue is well produced and logically laid out and the functionality of the website has improved radically over the last couple of years. Unfortunate that us customers in the Scottish Highlands have to pay a premium for delivery

Lion Picture Framing Supplies are rarely unable to supply what is needed. Some frame moulding is a little expensive, most hardware and tools are very keenly priced. Their service is excellent, their website works well. Only major gripe is not being able to pay by card for someone else to collect.

Always been very happy with the service, my only very slight issue is sometimes the quality of the Ash wood I always use now and then the batches have saw marks on and I am unable to use those lengths, I never really complain as the rest of your services is excellent but maybe the white/black ash woods could be checked beter before you send them out. Keep up the great work.

(1) Exceptionally good catalogues and website information, especially detailed moulding profile view and sizing; (2) Very welcome advice sheets on all sorts of framing topics; (3)Top class web and telephone customer service; (4) trade counter staff also extremely pleasant and helpful; and available - compare for example Arqadia's rather desolate display/waiting room where a wait of 5 minutes to see somebody is the norm; (5) European sourcing ensures high quality mouldings; compare calamitous efforts by Arqadia/Simons/Wessex to source from Far East resulting in lower quality, difficult to cut mouldings but worst of all stock-outs even on standard certificate frame mouldings of 2 - 3 months!! (6) I sadly miss the former trade counter experience in Birmingham and London which was the only "picture framers' shop" in the business; located just under one hour from Birmingham I now tend to use Centrado's weekly and reliable delivery service which also includes glass, for all my hardware etc which I might otherwise have scooped into a basket. Seeing mouldings in their entire length (when not wrapped!) was also very helpful. Wessex Leamington are only 25 minutes away so I often rely on them for one-off mount board orders and one-off mouldings for retail customers. (7) Please, please use your influence to reform the FATG. There are at least a dozen framers in and around Banbury of whom only one is an FATG member (I lasted just one year). (7) I don't fully

Good products... Just tired of having to ask for a quote every time because we reside outside UK.

All good. Roland is a brilliant ambassador. Minus point is blade resharpening however. I had three sets hollow ground last autumn. They came back worse than when I sent them away. Pushing very badly.. I had to resort to buying a brand new set from yourselves. I sent the offending sets back ( along with 4 other sets ) _ and was then charged for them to be re ground. - despite assurances to the contrary. I'm still awaiting credit. Sharp and effective Morso blades are obviously crucial to most picture framing businesses. When they fail it is very irksome. It wasn't the first time it had happened either. Otherwise all good ..... except for missing Lion South . But I understand that was probably commercially driven ? Kind regards Stuart Herring

I think Lion score tops marks on most things. Generally the range of products is good. Lion offer a great range of conservation materials which other suppliers don't do. They offer a good range of machinery, sold at competitive prices. Deliveries are good, service is good. Generally I find Lion very helpful and accommodating. Tony Lion is always very helpful, with lots of knowledge to share. My only fault with Lion is the quality of the mouldings. We do not stock many Lion mouldings because I find many of the pre-finished mouldings a little bit lacking in quality. This is a problem because, since the other products are so good, we could easily place more orders with Lion. At the moment, most of our orders are for back boards, tapes, glues, etc. Their bare woods are great, especially the not so common woods like walnut and cherry. I would like to see more unusual woods as well as a wider range of bare wood profiles. Although one of our suppliers has a large range of bare woods, they do not stock every shape or every wood. I am always on the look out for alternative bare wood suppliers so we can add to our range.

The minimum spend for the regular delivery charge is not great, but other than that, the company gives a good service.

Overall, we are very pleased with Lion, there service good and very helpful and approachable if there is an issue or query. The only slight let down is occasionally the quality of the moulding lengths are not always upto scratch, a combination of damage and more common place, warping/twisting of moulding which surprises me when it arrives as it has obviously being deemed fit to supply. Apart from my small gripe, very good, thank you.

A good experience with ease of use of the website and completion of order. Good delivery by Tuffnels. However, I deeply regret that I have to use the Birmingham HQ now that the London branch is closed. The latter provided a good van service where it was not necessary to purchase large amounts of moulding. I am trying to cut down on moulding stock but still have to satisfy the needs of clients. I just end up buying a whole load of moulding I do not currently want. Nowhere near as convenient as before and not as customer focused as the system used to be.

generally pleased with service and range, a few points though - delivery via Tuffnells is quick and they are helpful but virtually every delivery arrives damaged in some ways - bent mount board corners, scratched mouldings etc, stuff gets tumbled in the back of the lorry on a regular basis. - for certain standard mouldings I use other suppliers as quality can be variable, especially with bare woods where knots, holes and splits are not filtered out before delivery. - Trade discounts are modest at best and minimum order quantities and amounts can be a nuisance

Lion staff are always very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful when I call. They are knowledgeable about the product lines and do not shy away from problem-solving. On-line ordering is clear, simple and efficient. Orders are despatched quickly and are always very well packaged. Excellent range of framing products, mostly reasonably priced. My only criticism - and in fairness this applies not only to Lion - is that the quality of the chop service has diminished somewhat, presumably because there has been an increased demand for this useful service. Quality of cut is generally not good enough, especially when brittle finishes are seemingly cut with a circular saw, leaving ragged edges. These days I generally add a cm or two to the lengths and trim them down myself.
