“I have been an ebay seller for years and it's been great. Last year they moved to managed payments having ended their relationship with PayPal. The idea sounds good ie direct payment from eBay not a third party thus saving on PayPal fees. In practice it is terrible. Before funds were available instantly now you wait days to get paid. I reckon many sellers will vote with their feet. It needs fixing to return ebay to the top spot. I did an online chat with them to see if zi can go back to PayPal but of course that is not possible. What was supposed to enhance their service has eroded it.”
“Been a member since 2008. Initially a very good auction site then the cowboys moved in - scasmmers and liars alike. Ive now noticed a lot of China based sellers are claiming items based in UK (nothing wrong with that providing its true) Ebay are aware of this but seem reluctant to do anything about it. The first the buyer knows is after placing their order when the usual 2 or 3 day delivery suddenly grows to weeks. Parcel then arrives bearing a customs declaration with the goods splattered with chinese writing. Not very good eh Ebay?”
“Resently bought boot that we’re suppose to be for a wide calf could not get my foot in them let alone my leg way too small they were inexpensive which means I did not loose a lot. I sent them back b carefull what you chosen on eBay and check it out first and read all the reviews and have a think first befor you tap that button”
“Good when honest traders are your sellers but flawed with ridiculous traders who pay selling fee when they sell the item and not before. Thus they ask for stupid opening bids such as 30 pounds for a steam generator iron for parts as not steaming when new costs 80 pounds.”
“quite easy to list and always sending offers but can be expensive as they take percentage of selling price plus the postage charges that you have charged @10% each. Plus the fact that when a buyer pays by Paypal there is a further 4.5% taken from your funds and as Paypal and Ebay are linked quite a good little earner for them. So please be aware when selling to take the above into consideration.
Another Big Bug Bear is that there is no way of getting a sellers details if you wanted to view something before buying, I think they are Paranoid about losing their commission. But message to Ebay if reading, there are simpler ways to prevent this like charging their fees if a listing is ended before the due date etc. Also biased towards a buyer for returns and just accept their word without any proof that there is a problem with their item meaning that you can end up giving the item away and paying for doing so.”
“you can be lucky with a seller or you can be unlucky... if you're unlucky it's really difficult to get ebay to help you as everything needs to be automated”
